TESS VALMORE
I usually leave Philly for Nashville on Sunday night, but when I saw this PPV posted, I called Fred and got permission to stay in Philly and cover this card
LYNCH/RAWLINS Lnych is an up and coming bantam. Since I don’t cover bantams, I wouldn’t guess where Smackey is going to rank her in his next edition. She has a 9/2 record, but really need to step up in the competition. Now having said that, she has fought Ren who is a top lightweight twice and beaten her once. She should do well in the top tier wars. I have no idea who Rawlins is. This is her debut fight. I think age 29 is a little late to come to the game. I have to go with Lynch by a KO
KRSMANOVIC/WOZNIACKI Krsmanovic is one of the new wave of welters. She started off fighting most of best of the new wave and it didn’t go well. She, then stepped down in competition and now has done much better. I think Wozniacki is a tennis player. She has had nine fights all against opponents who I assume are tennis players. They were fights that I didn’t see. So let me say I know nothing about Wozniacki. I revert to my usual, go with the known. Krsmanovic will win
HEARD/VALANCE I was surprised to see these two on the card. They just don’t fit the mold of the rest of the women on the card. From 2014 through 2016 Heard had five fights and lost them all. This year she has stepped down in competition and won all three of her bouts. Valance has been around for ten years and fought many of the top lightweights. She has been relatively inactive only having two fights in the last three years. She is on a four fight losing streak. I think this is a 50/50 fight. I will go with Heard since she has been more active this year
ROHRBACH/TEIGEN Rohrbach is another on the new wave of lightweights she has a fine 10-3 record with her losses being to Swan and In her last two fights to Upton and Ferguson. Not too shabby competition. Teigen has had only one fight and that was at JMDD. You know what I think of JMDD. That experiece is not going to help her. Rohrbach by a KO before the end of round six
FEGUSON/CLAUSON Is this for real? Is this a fight just to pad Ferguson’s record with another “W”? We have Ferguson ranked at number three in the welters. Boxing World’s last welter rankings had her at two. Where’s Clauson? Well I stop at ten, but Boxing World had Prejean was ranked at 95. Clauson didn’t make the rankings which went to 113. How’s that for a recommendation. She has had one fight which she lost to Kremanovic. I suggest the fans enjoy the Rohrbach/Teigen fight and then leave to beat the traffic or get a good table at the restaurant. There is not going to be any suspense in this bout unless you are worried about the bout ending in a funeral. Ferguson by a KO If you grade fights for good competition. Give this bout an F
