3. Rosie Huntington Whiteley vs Karolina Kurkova

BEFORE:
Both these models have met twice in BBU competition before with Karolina coming out on top each time. However, Rosie believes third time's the charm and vows to upset the Czech rival even though the betting odds don't support her claim. Karolina flew to Muscle Beach, CA straight from Hawaii where she stopped Irina Shayk in seven during Lioness Club's Brooklyn Decker introductory event and that was a perfect rehearsal before kicking off her Victoria's Secret beach boxing campaign tonight.
There's a lot of animosity during the pre-fight introductions and Rosie refuses to touch gloves but the pundits reckon she might well crack under pressure regardless, and her feisty attitude actually fails to enclose the lack of confidence she has displayed time and time again during her otherwise lackluster boxing career to date.

Determined is the word early on - and that comes from Rosie who really wants to avenge both her earlier losses. She cracks a promising hooking drive and follows it up with a nasty uppercut that briefly stuns Karolina on her heels. However she displays a solid defense after that poor initial tangle and forces the English model to bounce off her guard repeatedly until a low switch allows Rosie to regain control of a high-octane opener. Karolina's forced to work from behind the guard but she throws far less clean punches compared to her rival and gets backed into the ropes late as Huntington really turns up the heat here. Still, she doesn't really inflict physical damage on her opponent and looks upset over Kurkova's beaming smile at the bell.
Some people in the stands don't actually understand why the Czech model was smiling at the end of round one but a quick hooking combo immediately puts her on the board in round two as she splits Rosie's infamously mediocre guard and keeps piling on the point-blank range pressure. Huntington begins to wince in pain as several of Kurkova's shots find their target; she has to yield real estate but shows enough agility to avoid a complete disaster. Karolina barks at her retreat but still maintains the high-tempo pursuit until she traps the English blonde with another hooking combo that tears a bloody patch under the left eye to sink the younger model in the corner. And there's no stopping Kurkova there but she has to revert to pounding the fellow blonde's guts to run away with the numbers as a yelping Rosie manages to block off the shots upstairs.
Rounds 3 & 4: Putting the heat on Huntington-Whiteley is always the way to go and the English model's approach changes dramatically during the next couple of rounds. The wound under the left eye might have played a huge mental part in her stance as she clinches and wrestles herself to safety rather than trying to deliver the juice outright. Karolina is clearly upset by this and only lands single punches to the body most of the time but the referee's half-hearted efforts to separate the two blondes don't really sit well with the California crowd either. Still, Rosie actually manages to drill Kurkova's breadbasket in each of these rounds, helped by the fact she accidentally head-butts the older model on the chin. Karolina doesn't smile anymore as she pleads to the ref to do something about Rosie's tactics but she gets blasted with a late hook towards the end of the fourth and spins back to the ropes where the English model beats her for a left-on-left and squashes the Czech woman's lips in the process.
Round 5: Karolina is furious now and injects immediate wrath upon the initial tangle in the center of the ring. Since she manages to beat the fellow blonde for the opening punch, she sinks Rosie behind another miserable earmuff but sends brutal harpoons around the elbows to make sure Huntington doesn't try to stall the action again. Actually, she's the one aiming for a head-butt and bumps Rosie onto her heels before a left/right combo clatters into the temples and drops the younger model into more spasms. Rosie fails to adjust her feet during this Czech onslaught and trips back to the turnbuckle where Karolina lasers in with more aerial pressure. She splits the mitts of her opponent and camps in her face rocking the ponytail back & forth which sags her on jelly knees. Huntington's scowls are getting louder and louder and she just can't keep her guard in tact anymore; Kurkova runs out of time to really blow her away here and force a stoppage but the cut under the left eye has grown bigger in the process and Rosie looks like she's swallowing some tears at the bell as she heads back to her corner with her eyes glued to the canvas.
Round 6: Kurkova resumes the aerial attack and Huntington's guard is all over the place again. She gets beaten for another left-on-left tangle and then eats a right hook on the lips that makes her stumble backwards on the spot. She tries to duck to the right but she's not quick enough and Kurkova BLASTS her across the nose before another sizzling uppercut finds the jaw and shuts the younger blonde's eyes shut... Ugh! She wobbles on her heels with her arms dropping by her waist and the Czech model has all the time in the world to nail her with a brutal hook on the nose THAT DROPS ROSIE FLAT ON HER BACK in a blink of an eye!!! And she really smoked her with that one!!! The count is slow but it doesn't change anything as the English blonde simply fails to embrace that knockdown and needs to be revived by the medical crew as soon as the ref declares the fight being over! KO6 Karolina Kurkova!!!

It's fair to wonder if Rosie thinks of another revenge mission against the Czech model as she got utterly wrecked in that sixth round. That's three in a row for Karolina who admits she really wanted to punish the fellow blonde once the questionable clinching tactics prevented her from securing a dominant position a little earlier than she should have: "I'm the superior fighter and I proved it tonight... again! I'm sorry but she's just a glorified punchbag. I still don't know why Gail Kim keeps her skinny ass in the gym? But that's not my problem..."
The odds are Karolina will face another Eastern European, Barbara Palvin, in round two. After stopping Irina Shayk last month the Czech model is poised for a special run against fellow Slavic models but that only adds to the lore of the Victoria's Secret roster which is filled with these European beauties. Several pundits say that Karolina is past her peak these days but her recent results simply don't support these predictions. However, if Palvin beats Erin Heatherton then she'll be the favorite to end Kurkova's mini-run as the younger generation of models is destined to enjoy a massive break-through during this high-profile event.
