BEFORE:
"I haven't always fought my best on this side of the Atlantic," Scarlett admits. "But, I AM an American after all, and all that changes tonight."
"Scarlett's won in the BBU," says Tate, "And, that means she can win in the FCBA. What she CAN'T do is win TONIGHT."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Fire Woman' by the Cult, and here comes blonde beauty Scarlett Leithold..."
McCarthy: "AKA, a Typical Dancing Hooker Opponent with NO FCBA wins!"
Cassie: "Leithold's mostly worked in the BBU, but she HAS had some FCBA fights..."
McCarthy: "None of which she's WON!"
O'Dell: "Blonde into the ring and helped off with the robe, and the crowd popping for the willowy Scarlett in that white two-piece she's sporting. And, that's 'Vicious' you hear booming through the arena, and here comes the singer of THAT tune, 'The Calgary Crusader', Tate McRae!"
Tess: "Tate's had another good year for Front Street. She's working her way up the rankings at both light and welter, and if she wants to keep that momentum going, she needs a win tonight."
O'Dell: "Tate into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that blue bikini she likes. Fans showing appreciation as usual. And, the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Tate. Mac?"
McCarthy: "NO FCBA wins. McRae!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Unanimous in the first, but it's Scarlett who's getting it going early. Blonde very aggressive, stepping to the brunette, backing her up with heavy shot. Tate thrown to the defensive early here, jabbing back in spots..."
Cassie: "Not a lot of movement from Tate..."
O'Dell: "Almost none, except of the backward variety, but that's on Scarlett. She's taken control of this thing with an accurate left hand that's setting up some solid rights and keeping the brunette on the back foot, at least for the moment..."
McCarthy: "ALL of these Dancing Hookers are overrated...except Stewart."
O'Dell: "Ten seconds remaining in what's been a great first round for Leithold. Blonde's got it all going right now, and she's going to bring it home with another solid flurry that forces Tate to cover up. There's the bell. Scarlett and wide."
Tess: "And, the blonde has the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins with Scarlett pressing forward and Tate holding ground and it's HAMMER AND TONGS in there! Ladies just GETTING AFTER ONE ANOTHER in the second round, banging away with both hands and not giving an inch..."
Tess: "Everyone wants to take control, but nobody wants to cede it."
O'Dell: "And the result is some serious fire being exchanged in the middle of the ring right now. GOOD right from Scarlett and TATE backs the blonde up with a right hand of her own! They are sitting down on EVERYTHING right now..."
McCarthy: "Something's got to give..."
O;'Dell: "The question is, what and how soon! BIG exchange there as both ladies land a hard right hand and there's ANOTHER, sweat flying as heads are snapped back and there's the bell! What a round! Close. McRae on the board."
Cassie: "And we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Things settling down a little in the third. Leithold still looking to work forward, but doing so with less aggression. McRae giving a little ground here and there, mostly staying in front of the blonde. Still not seeing a lot of the movement Tate is known for..."
McCarthy: "Kid is POORLY TRAINED. It's not HER fault."
O'Dell: "Both fighters getting some work done in this stanza, and, like the last round, it's good, two-way stuff, with first Tate and then Scarlett putting together punches. The difference is, we're seeing a lot more tactical stuff."
Cassie: "And, both fighters showing they can do this as well as they can bang away like they did in the second."
O'Dell: "Definitely are. We're under fifteen seconds to go in what's been a very competitive round. SHARP exchange there and Leithold backs Tate up a step and there's the bell. Very close, but it's Scarlett who grabs the points."
Tess: "And goes back into the lead, 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Fourth underway with Scarlett again looking to work forward, but now she's having to deal with Tate's athleticism. The brunette' s bouncin' and misbeavin', slipping that jab, ducking left or right, getting off in combination, then bouncing away..."
Tess: "THIS is the kind of thing we usually see from Tate..."
O'Dell: "Brunette definitely playing hard to find right now. Leithold resolute, trying to get that left on, but she's not having much success. Instead, it's Tate who's calling the tune now, getting to spots, getting off in combination, slipping rejoinders."
McCarthy: "Looks a little like J-Mac right now! Not nearly as HOT, of course..."
O'Dell: "Down the stretch in the fourth, and Tate's turned this fight completely with her speed and athleticism. Scarlett frustrated, can't get much done. Tate, on the other hand, landing hard shot aplenty to the bell. Not close in the fourth. McRae."
Cassie: "And, we're even at 38."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Fifth begins the way the fourth ended, with Scarlett trying to get something going, but she's having all kinds of problems as Tate's slipping or blocking that left. At times, she's countering, at others, just moving and then getting off."
Cassie: "McRae's taken over. She's giving Leithold a beating right now."
O'Dell: "Sure is. Brunette's doing what she wants WHEN she wants at the moment. Blonde trying to hang in there, still working hard, but she doesn't have any answers right now and DOWN SHE GOES! Straight right hand from Tate and Scarlett crashes to her back!"
Tess: "That might do it..."
O'Dell: "McRae quickly to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Scarlett flat on her back, rolling over at six. Blonde pushes to hands and knees at seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Leithold still on all fours as the count passes her by and it's OVER and your winner by KO5 is 'The Calgary Crusader', Tate McRae!"
McCarthy: "Luck! Pure luck!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Tate McRae, and, Tate, kind of a slow start tonight?"
Tate (nodding): "She was trying to get big on me early, and I didn't want to allow that. Had to just hang with her and bang back. Once I established that, I could get into what I wanted to do...and, when I did, I got everything going."
Tess: "You're one of those girls who does a lot of things. Light, welter, JMDD, beach. What's next?"
Tate (shrugging): "That's what management is for. I just worry about training hard and being ready for...whatever!"
