Before: “I thought it was about time I had a look at Jenna,” explained Lucy Hale at the pre-fight press gathering. “She’s got talent, but how well can she handle someone with experience. I think we are all about to find out.”
Jenna Ortega nods: “I believe you certainly will. I know from your record you like fighting younger opponents, but not with a lot of success. I will do my best to help make sure she maintains that lack of success.”
“How nice of you to say,” Lucy says with sarcasm.
“It was my pleasure,” Jenna says/
In the ring we find Lucy in black bra and panties with matching boots and white gloves (black laces). Lucy’s hair is loose but wetted down. Jenna in white bra and panties with black gloves and boots (white laces). Hair in a battle braid. Referee goes through his instructions. Two tapgloves and go to their corners. Very smooth. The bell rings.
R1: Lucy out very aggressively against Jenna. She is firing head and body shots in a rapid fire, but shifting pattern. Jenna clearly having trouble keeping up in the initial going and eats a lot of Hale leather. However, as the fight swings into its second half, Jenna seems to have adjusted and starts blocking Lucy’s head shots. Then Jenna rattles Lucy’s head with a solid series of right and left shots to the head. Lucy circles and comes back, scoring again against Jenna to the head before Jenna can get her defenses up. Jenna is fighting back late and this seems to make a clos round, but it is still Lucy Hale who wins it.
R2: Now Jenna goes on the attack. She goes after Lucy with a determined attack to the midsection. Lucy getting bent forward as the right left hooks drive deep into her belly. Lucy try to fight back with body punches of her own, but then Jenna snaps her head first to the right and then to the left with successive big jaw shots. Lucy has to fall back, pawing at the charging Jenna with an ineffective jab and then just covering up to the head. Jenna slamming away at Lucy’s belly and ribs as the round ends. Jenna Ortega wins round wide.
R3: Lucy and Jenna both out quickly at the bell and head for the center f the ring. Lucy able to connect first with bashing right to Jenna’s cheekbone. Then follow-up left smites Jenna to the chin. Jenna back on her heels , but not for long. Jenna comes back strong, working Lucy to the body once more. However Lucy strikes back with driving hooks and carve deep into Jenna’s belly and hammer her ribs. Jenna falls back, but she has a strong jab that slows Lucy’s pursuit. Lucy keeps trying and gets in afinal series of hooks that have Jenna doubled up and gasping at the bell. Another close round, but this one goes to Lucy Hale.
R4: Lucy and Jenna clash again at mid-ring and this time Jenna scores with a lightning jabs to the side of the head and then a right to the jaw. Lucy staggered by the blow. She falls back with her gloves up to protect her head. Jenna now goes after Lucy to the body with a systematic attack. She works Lucy ove from breasts, to her ribs and finally her abs. Soon she has Lucy hunched up and trying to fight back, but she can manage only a few desperate jabs. Jenna now looks to be trying to drive Lucy into the ropes. But Lucy managing to avoid this even as Jenna is bouncing shots off the top of her head. Bell finally ends Lucy Hale’s ordeal as Jenna Oretega wins round wide.
R5: Hard work by the PLP corner seems to bring fresh energy to Lucy Hale. She is fast out her corner and throws a punching barrage at Jenna Ortega, Jenna makes a hasty retreat in the face of this leather storm. Lucy driving her around the ring hitting her to body and head, not giving Jenna the chance to anticipate where the next incoming punch would come from. Jenna finally able to fight back late as she struggles to keep from being driven into the ropes. Lucy dancing around her, firing in the punches to the head and now to Jenna’s flank ribs. Jenna firing bout a few stubborn jabs, but mostly she is all hunched up and just trying to ride it. Finally, the bell rings, and a sweating Lucy steps back. Jenna dripping with sweat too, but she glares defiantly at Lucy before heading for her corner. Round goes wide to Lucy Hale.
R6: Now it the GBS corner’s turn to patch up a battered fighter. They do get Jenna Ortega out from the new round and she looks determined moving forward. Lucy Hale moving forward too. There is a sharp exchange at the ring center and this time Jenna finds Lucy’s solar plexus early with a heavy hook. Lucy shudders and is jackknifed forward with a gurgling gasp. Now Jenna strikes with rising rights and lefts into Lucy’s upper body. Lucy stumbling back, trying to get upright so she can strike back, but unable to do so. Jenna now herding Lucy back into the ropes and as Lucy;s black pantes touch the ropes, Jenna unleashes a hug right uppercut that finds Lucy’s chin. Lucy jerked upright and falls back into the ropes. She slides down to end up like a discarded rag doll. Referee moves in as Jenna trots to the neutral corner. Referee starts to count. Lucy stirs and seems to realize her plight, She graps the ropes she’s leaning against and tries to pull herself up as the count rises. She almost makes it up, but then her knees buckle. Clutching the ropes, Lucy tries again, but….
“NINE!...TEN!...OUT!” Calls the referee as Lucy makes erect just a little too late, but she has to hod the ropes just remain standing so it is unlikely the fight would have allowed to continue./
THE WINNER: JENNA ORETGA DEFEATS LUCY HALE KO6!”
After: “I will admit that the old girl gave me more trouble than I was expecting,” says Jenna Ortega after the fight. “She knows how to punch and how to block a punch. I it took me a while to finally get to her and get the win. Now I feel ready to move on to younger and better fighters. I can’t wait!”
“I still think I could have won the fight, but once the roof caved in on me in the 5tth and she blasted me into the ropes. It was over then. I tried to get up, but it was too late. That;s about all I have to say on the matter.”
Once again Lucy Hale just can’t seem to resist taking o young flyweights only to have the bout turn out badly. She did to well at times, but once Jenna was able to lower the boom in the 5th, it was pretty much over for the veteran. Nice win for Jenna Ortega and her fans hope to see in action again soon
