Evangeline Lilly versus Peyton Roi List

BEFORE:

Bantam contest sees veteran Hall of Famer Lily taking on much-traveled List, who may well be seeing her last best chance at FCBA success with The Consortium. And, while there's no doubting the potential of the blonde, she's yet to live up to same, unlike the confident Evangeline. "She's got tools," the brunette admits. "But, I get RESULTS, just like I'm going to do tonight."

"I'm glad to be back in the ring," says Peyton with a nod. "HISC is giving me opportunities. And, I'm going to take advantage of them."

ROUND ONE:

List takes advantage. Vangie's giving up plenty of years and some quickness at this point, and Peyton uses that to create terms to her advantage. She's movin' and groovin', snapping that left into the brunette's face, keeping her at bay. Lily wants to close and bring her power to bear, but she can't get it done in the opening stanza. Instead, it's Peyton who's enforcing terms, boxing well, touching up the older woman as Lily tries to get the geometry to work and finds that none of the theorems or corollaries are making much sense. Instead, it's the blonde who's piling up points right to the bell, and, when it rings, she's taken the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Adjustment by Vangie. She's in a half-crouch now, working in, angling, kicking up sand while List continues to do the same in what becomes a war of movement. Lily's now having some success getting to middle distances and even into the phone booth to get off...but not consistently. At other times, it's Peyton on the outside snapping jabs and following on with right hands. Result is a good, two-way round in which both blonde and brunette have moments and neither is able to gain any kind of control. Things are in doubt until the final seconds, and, when the bell rings, there's absolutely nothing in it. An even round leaves List up by one, 20-19.

ROUND THREE:

More of the same. Vangie's solved a portion of the equation here. She's finding ways to get her offense going, but she's unable to establish control, much like Peyton, who's having moments like those in the first, when she's able to work at range, put punches together, fight the fight she wants, but others when Lily's in her face, backing her up, working her body. Again, it all adds up to a good, two-way round in which both fighters get work done and no one can separate on the cards. Once again, it's in doubt into the final thirty seconds, but this time, like the veteran she is, Evangeline turns up the heat, puts together some nice flurries, puts Peyton on the back foot, and steals the points to even things at 29.

ROUND FOUR:

Things have settled into a pattern now. Good, two-way stuff between blonde and brunette with List in control when she's able to work at range and Vangie dominating when she gets inside Peyton's defenses...BOOM! Right hook, LILY and DOWN GOES PEYTON! Vangie sets up a perfect right hook to the chin with a left hook to the ribs and the blonde CRASHES to her right side in the sand. Lily to a neutral corner only to be surprised when the blonde struggles to her feet at eight. Ref gives her the mandatory and waves on Vangie! Lily calling in all the reserves as she batters Peyton back into the ropes and WORKS HER OVER to body, going upstairs only to go back down. List hangs on in a tight guard to the bell, but, when it rings, the brunette's in the lead 39-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Lily looking to finish now, walking forward behind the left, backing the blonde across the beach. Peyton giving ground, jabbing back in spots, legs still looking a bit iffy...BOOM! Right hand, LIST and Lily is HURT! Vangie all WOBBLY BUTT after a NASTY right hand counter from the blonde and Peyton's now over to the offensive, letting the hands go, driving all before her, pinning the brunette to the cables and banging away. She's ignoring the on-sale body and instead concentrating upstairs, looking to finish. Crafty veteran, however, running clock, playing defense, hanging on to the bell. When it rings, the blonde's taken the points wide, but Vangie still leads 48-47 at the half.

ROUND SIX:

List now the one determined to finish. Blonde walking the somewhat wobbly Lily down behind the left hand. Vangie giving ground, keeping the hands high, staying off the ropes, looking to run clo...BOOM! Right hand, Peyton and DOWN GOES LILY! A straight right from the blonde sends the Hall of Famer crashing to her back in the sand. Peyton quickly to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Vangie rolls to her belly at six, pushes to hands and knees at eight, begins to rise and STUMBLES BACK TO THE SAND! It's OVER! The count passes Lily by and it's OVER and your winner by KO6 in comeback fashion is Peyton List!

AFTER:

Peyton scuffed but smiling. Big opportunity and she took full advantage of it. "I couldn't be more grateful to HISC for the opportunities they're giving me. I know I can win championships for them. Just wait and see! Just wait and see!"
