THE WINNER MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD DEFEATS SAYUKI MATSUMOTO KO6!
After: “It got pretty intense after that 5th Round,” MEW acknowledges in the post-fight. “She has got a mean right hand and I was really feeling it in those body punches. I hung on because I was determined not to let her think she could beat me. That’s kind of my secret: I just don’t give up after a bad round. So once again, I was able to come back and take down an opponent who thought she had me beat. That’s part of the ‘MEW Experience’. I will acknowledge there IS a “Matsumoto Experience’ and I have a date with some ice packs to prove it.”
Mary also drops by Sayuki’s corner to check on her. Sayuki clearly not happy how this turned out, but is polite to Mary’s inquiries. To the press Sayuki says later: “Mary Winstead is a god fighter, but she is not invincible, I still think I could be one to beat her, but I am no hurry to face her again.”
Another hard hitting Mary Elizabeth Winstead vs Whomever fight. In this case, it was Sayuki Matsumoto who found out just hurting Mary isn’t the same as actually defeating her. One has to wonder how long Mary can keep this up, but. Clearly, she is still going strong after tonight. Sayuki Matsumoto was no doubt disappointed but she’s still not plenty of punch left. We look forward to seeing what both fighters will do in coming bouts.
