Ana de Armas vs Hilary Duff
(Writing: LMW / Results: Lookout!)
Ana de Armas
(35, 5’6, 18-6 FCBA, League of Mighty Women)
Hilary Duff
(36, 5’2, 10-22 FCBA, Free Agent)
Pre-Fight: League of Mighty Women’s Ana de Armas will be facing Hilary Duff, who is a free agent at the moment. Ana started the year with a loss, but she has put together a winning streak since then, including one of her most important wins against Elizabeth Olsen earlier this month. So, she is looking to finish the year on a high note. As for Hilary, it has been a while since she did well in FCBA, but a shocking win over Sophie Mudd this year catapulted her through the rankings and gave her a chance to make it to the elite level once again. It is rumored that Hilary is interested in Anya’s (Taylor-Joy) title, so a win here against her stablemate could lead to a title shot indeed.
Ana is the first fighter to address the audience during the pre-fight press conference. “Hilary tries to revive her career both here in FCBA and outside. I don’t care what she does elsewhere, but I will make sure that she goes back to obscurity in FCBA. She just got lucky with one win and she thinks that she can challenge my good friend Anya? Not on my watch! When I’m done with you, you will feel stupid for even thinking about challenging her.”
Hilary looks confident as she starts her own address. “I said it before, I’ll say it again. I am a good fighter and I’m in great shape right now, so it wasn’t an upset! I won because I was the better fighter and I will win again, because I’m better than Ana too! I also don’t get why she got so protective, but I will first beat Ana and then I will beat and ride her ‘good friend’ Anya!” Hilary looks over at her opponent with a smirk, which is not taken well by Ana, so she gets up and walks up to Hilary. She gets up and holds her ground too, so they end up touching foreheads and stare each other down. They both keep their cool though and decide to wait for the fight to throw hands.
It is fight night and Ana makes her entrance first with her coach Gillian Anderson accompanying her, unlike her last fight. Rumor is that Anya asked her to work with Gillian instead of Summer (Glau), hence the coach swap for Ana. She seems to be in a good mood though as she waves and blows kisses to the fans cheering loudly for her on her way to the ring.
Ana is wearing a red sports bra with matching trunks, black gloves and boots with her hair tied into double Dutch braids.
Hilary enters the arena next, with her coach trailing right behind her. She also waves and blows kisses to the fans cheering for her as she makes her way to the ring, looking very confident. She shadow boxes as she listens to her coach in the ring.
Hilary is wearing a blue sports bra with matching trunks, white gloves and boots with her hair tied into a loose ponytail.
Both fighters come to the center of the ring to listen to the final instructions of the referee and then they go for a stiff touch of gloves as they glare at each other. They now step back to their respective corners and we are ready for 10 rounds of bantamweight action!
Fight: Round 1: Instant fireworks as both fighters rush to the center of the ring and let their fists fly. Ana lands a jab-straight combo as her opponent gets inside, but then Hilary quickly answers with a couple of shovel hooks to the body. They both seem intent on hurting their opponent rather than protecting themselves as they continue to trade leather. Ana scores with a straight and a hook to the chin, while Hilary fires back with a hook to the ribs and an uppercut that lifts her opponent’s chin. Hilary tries to take advantage with a big hook, but Ana raises her guard in time, blocks the punch and counters with a hook of her own that catches Hilary off guard and lands hard. Hilary is forced to step back and switch to a defensive approach after that last punch as she looks a bit shaken. Ana is trying to put the pressure on her opponent to keep her on the back foot. She throws a lot of one-two combinations and while most of them are getting blocked, she is able to slip some good shots in. Ana controls the action for the rest of the round and wins it in dominant fashion.
Round 2: Ana looks confident at the start of the second round as she stays on the attack, hoping to pick things up from where she left off. Hilary is sticking with a more defensive style, but she is clearly on the lookout for opportunities to go on the offensive. The first minute goes by with Ana controlling the action and tagging her opponent from the range as she uses her height and reach advantage. Hilary fires back occasionally, but not really troubling Ana so far. After the halfway point, Hilary starts to get more aggressive with her search for openings to disrupt Ana’s rhythm. She cuts angles and steps in as she ducks under Ana’s one-two combinations to land an overhand to the face or couple of hooks to the body. She is not overstaying her welcome though as she got the worst end of the stand-and-trade in the opening round. The body shots start to add up and Hilary takes over the control of the fight slowly, but surely. Her late offensive is enough to steal the round and tie up the scorecords. During the break, Gillian goes over some countermeasures that Ana can use to gain the upperhand in the fight again.
Round 3: Both fighters make a quick start to the third round as they are both willing to trade again. Hilary is still getting the better of these exchanges as she keeps bobbing and weaving to avoid a lot of Ana’s punches, while hitting her with hard body shots. Gillian can be heard shouting instructions to her fighter from the ringside to help her turn things over. Ana listens to her coach and manages to do that right as we enter the second minute of the round. She catches a ducking Hilary right on the chin with an uppercut that lands hard and disorients Hilary, who starts backing off unsteadily. Ana tries to drop her opponent with a couple of hooks, but she cannot land them cleanly. Still, she forces Hilary back to the ropes and starts to rain down punches to finish the job. Hilary tightens her guard and defends well for the most part, but she is still taking significant damage from Ana’s relentless assault, so when she finds an opportunity, she clinches with her opponent to slow her down. After getting separated, Ana takes control of the action and lands some clean punches, but she cannot find another opportunity to finish her opponent off until the end of the round. She wins the round wide and retakes the lead on the scorecards though.
Round 4: Ana is in control again as she pursues her opponent, while Hilary is forced to defend and find another solution to slow her opponent down and turn the tables on her. Ana tries to put the pressure on her opponent, but before she can land anything significant, Hilary clinches with her. They wrestle for position and land some body shots from the clinch. Hilary uses her strength advantage to start bullying Ana around in the clinch as she overpowers her. The referee ends up separating them, but before long, Hilary gets her opponent in a clinch as well, pushing and pulling her, while scoring with more body shots. Ana looks helpless to avoid Hilary from gaining complete control of these clinches that they keep getting into throughout the round. Finally, Hilary pushes Ana to a corner, traps her there and launches a barrage of body shots. Ana turtles up and braces for impact and while she manages to block the majority of the shots, she is still getting hurt with some nasty punches that slips her guard. Hilary keeps blasting her opponent’s body until the bell, but she fails to get a knock down, which she seems to be a bit frustrated with. During the break, Ana’s corner team applies ice packs to her reddened body, while Gillian tells her to fight smart, use her reach and keep Hilary at a distance at all times to avoid any more clinches.
Round 5: Ana makes a more cautious start to the fifth round as she is still hurting from the body shots she received last round. She is listening to her coach as she keeps her feet moving and uses defensive double-jabs to keep her opponent at bay. Hilary is chasing her opponent around the ring, wanting to get inside and finish the job she started, but she starts to get frustrated as she fails to do so. She is taking more risks and getting careless as she tries to find a way in. It is what Ana has been waiting for though, so she starts tagging Hilary with one-two combinations every time she tries to get inside and then moves back to keep her distance.
After a particularly stiff jab-straight combination, Hilary steps in to clinch with Ana to slow her down. Ana is ready for it this time though, so she lands a lead uppercut that buckles Hilary’s knees and then big right hook floors Hilary! Ana walks over to the neutral corner as she pumps her fist, while the referee begins the count. 1…2…3… lying on her back, Hilary slowly rolls over 4…5… she gets up on all fours and shakes her head 6…7…8… she waits in that position briefly to muster her strength and then gets back up to her feet, showing the referee that she can continue. The action restarts with the referee’s signal! Ana quickly comes in and lands a one-two combination up top. Another hook to the chin and Hilary is already back in trouble as she steps back with shaky legs. She blocks the next couple of short combinations, but she ends up getting backed into the ropes. With her opponent trapped there, Ana starts blasting her with wild hooks. Once her defenses are breached, Hilary starts to sway left and right on the ropes with each impact. She is not defending herself anymore, so the referee stops the fight to prevent unnecessary damage! It is all over!
Official Result: Winner by TKO in round 5, Ana de Armas!
Post-Fight: As the referee tries to separate them and make sure that Hilary doesn’t take any more damage, Ana goes chest to chest with her defeated opponent and flexes as she mocks her. “I told you I will send you back to the obscurity, where you belong, chica! You are not worthy to be ridden by Anya either!” She then turns and goes back to her corner to celebrate her victory with her team. On the other side, the referee and Hilary’s coach help her get to her stool slowly and then she gets checked by the medical team and leaves the ring with her head hanging low after she gets cleared by the doctor.
At the center of the ring, Ana gets her hand raised by the referee and then takes the microphone. “As expected, I made quick work of her. Like I said before, she tried to make a comeback just because she got lucky one time this year, but I brought her back to the reality that she sucks! It should also serve as a warning to the rest of FCBA. Unless Anya calls your name for a title shot, keep your mouth shut or I will deal with you myself!” Ana drops the mic after what sounded like not only a general warning, but a specific message to certain someone. She then leaves the ring triumphant alongside her coach Gillian.
