Diamond Boxing Tournament 2024 announcement:
So for those who have been wondering, yes the Diamond Boxing Tournament will be back next year. Eight women in the welterweight division will duke it out in a round robin tournament, wins and losses are what matter. The winner will take home the tiara and trophy after seven long months of battle. This is a marathon event, not a sprint.
The eight combatants were chosen by members of the FCBA committee (thank you to Caspian, Lookout! And Vassago for helping to choose these fighters) so without further ado, here are your fighters:
*Lorella Boccia {age: 32, Height: 5'7½, W/L: 25-11 (25KOs), Former FCBA JMDD champion} (Revolution Boxing):
The Italian model joins the tournament that saw her national compatriot Raffaela Modugno take part in the last one. Lorella will hope to do better then her by going all the way. She has held a title once in the FCBA in the JMDD division, is this the time she shows she is truly an elite welterweight?
*Bridget Satterlee {age: 28, height: 5'10, W/L: 2-1 (2KOs), current and the first ever FCBA AMDD champion)} (Queens of Absolution):
Bridget has certainly went looking to make impact after impact in her short career. She became the first ever AMDD (abs of mass destruction) Champion in September, she nearly beat Kate Upton in a barnstormer and now she looks to take down eight top fighters to prove she is already the woman to talk about in the welterweights.
*Valerie Kaufman {age: 29, height: 5'11, W/L: 1-3 (1KOs)} (Femme Fight Club)
Russian star Valerie hasn't started her career as she'd probably have hoped. This tournament has had a history of kick starting careers before. Can Valerie turn things around with this tournament?
*Lorena Rae {age: 29, height: 5'11, W/L: 7-15 (7KOs) (Black Eagle Boxing):
The German stunner has never shied away from the tough tests in her career. While her record isn't one to brag about, she has wins over the likes of Sophie Howard and Olga Kurylenko. She also has tournament experience under her belt.
*Jesinta Campbell {age: 32, Height: 5'10, W/L: 8-2, Curren ACB welterweight champion} (Downunder Boxing)
For the first time in this tournaments history, a world champion from another organisation has entered. The Aussie model has battled the likes of Elizabeth Debicki, Josephine Skriver and Hilary Rhoda. Can she add more accolades to her résumé?
*Alexandria Morgan {age: 29, height: 5'10, W/L: 1-5 (1KOs)} (Free Agent)
The All American beauty hasn't quite lit the sport on fire yet in the ring as she'd have hoped. She does hold a dominant victory over former BBU welterweight title contender Vogue Williams, has had the task of trying to take down Eden Cohen, Hannah Ferguson and Hailey Clauson, so you can understand why her record does look so great. Now she gets the chance to fight regularly and prove her doubters wrong.
*Antje Utgaard: {age:29 height: 5'10 W/L: 27-15 (27KOs)} (Front Street Boxing):
For the first time in tournament history we have someone giving it another crack. She finished seventh out of the eight competitors but this time around she has the backing of her old stable Front Street Boxing. Could their support help Antje improve up the table and maybe even compete for the trophy?
*Alice Goodwin {age: 37, height: 5'8, overall record: 16-22 (16KOs)} (Free Agent):
While Alice has a great record in the FCBA, Alice has been a top fighter in the BBU and around the JMDD division for years, a run in next year's tournament might push her to new heights. At the very least she is not an easy out for any fighter wanting to win the tournament.
We will be announcing the rounds each month. The first round of fights will take place on the Fight Night Live: Proving Ground 24 event in January 2024. We hope you will follow the tournament, cheer your favourites and let's see who will join the past winners of Camille Kostek, Robyn Lawley and Hailey Clauson as the fourth ever winner. Remember so far two of those three have won world titles and we suspect Hailey will win one in the near future. So winning this tournament can certainly make careers.
