BEFORE:
"I know I'm here to give McMann a test," says Paula with a nod. "She's a good fighter. They want to push her. So. Here I am. Problem is, I'm a test she can't PASS."
"Paula's a challenge," Kennedy admits. "She's right about that. But, she's a challenge I WILL meet."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Movin' Cool' by Outkast featuring the lovely lady coming to ringside right now, Paula Patton!"
McCarthy: "And, I can't WAIT until she knocks out that FRAUD!"
Cassie: "HERE we go..."
McCarthy: "SHUT UP, SCABBO!"
O'Dell: "Patton into the ring and helped off with the robe. And, if the crowd reaction is any indication, she's looking PLENGTY good in that black number she's wearing..."
Oh the shark, babe
Has such teeth, dear...
McCarthy: "I WILL SUE! I WILL SUE!"
Tess: "For the MILLIONTH time, Wiz BOUGHT the rights to the song. You CAN'T sue!"
McCarthy: "SHUT UP, WALMART!"
O'Dell: "Drink up, boys! And, of course, that song you hear is 'Mack The Knife' by Bobby Darin, and that can only mean that Kennedy 'Mac The Knife' McMann is on her way to the ring..."
McCarthy: "FRAUD! She's A FRAUD!"
O'Dell (sighing): "McMann into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and the crowd popping for Kennedy in that lavender bikini she likes..."
McCarthy: "They must be BLIND!"
O'Dell: "And it's about time for some picks. Tess likes Kennedy. Mac?"
McCarthy: "FRAUD! Patton!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "There's the bell and the ladies right to range to get to work. Both are long and like to get their respective boxes on. Moving head, hands, feet, getting the jab on target. Good stuff from both redhead and brunette right now..."
McCarthy: "Patton's going to knock this FRAUD out!"
O'Dell: "McMann and GOOD combination there, and that backed up Paula. Kennedy stepping forward, landing another combination, and Patton gives ground again. McMann getting it going right now and she's got the older woman on the back foot..."
Tess: "All coming off that jab, Jenny..."
O'Dell: "Sure is. Redhead gets it on and follows with right hands. She's taking control of this thing as we head into the final seconds of the round. GOOD combination, Kennedy, and Paula's backed up again at the bell. No doubt in the first. McMann. Wide."
Cassie: "And Kennedy grabs the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "More ranged boxing as we start the second. Patton making a little adjustment now, showing more head movement, getting the gloves higher, looking to pick off that left jab. It's working after a fashion. McMann not as effective this stanza..."
McCarthy: "This is what I'm talking about. She'll knock this fraud OUT..."
O'Dell: "Two-way stuff at the moment. Both fighters getting some work done and neither able to gain a real advantage in this frame. SHARP exchange there and both redhead and brunette landed a solid right hand in it..."
Cassie: "Patton showing why she's such a dangerous opponent. Very slick. Very."
O'Dell: "No question of that. We're down the stretch in the second. It's been nip and tuck the whole way and that's not going to change late. One more trade of punches and there's the bell. Close. But, McMann's got the points."
Tess: "And, Kennedy pulls into a 20-18 lead."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Back to range with brunette and redhead both working well, snapping out the jab, following on with right hands. Once again, good, two-way stuff with neither fighter gaining any real advantage and THERE'S A RIGHT HAND, PAULA!"
McCarthy: "YES! KNOCK HER OUT! KNOCK HER OUT!"
O'Dell: "McMann's knees do a shimmy and Patton is all in! Paula letting the hands go, backing Kennedy into the ropes and working her over to head and body. McMann tying up, but Patton shoving her off and getting back to work..."
Tess: "Redhead just trying to ride this out..."
O'Dell: "Is, indeed, but the brunette has other ideas. She's looking to finish this thing. GOOD right from Paula and that gets the ref's attention. Ten seconds to go. McMann ties up. Holds on. Ref breaks the fighters and there's the bell. Paula. Wide."
Cassie: "And she cuts Kennedy's lead to 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Patton looking to end this thing. McMann still clearly buzzed and Paula is ALL OVER HER right now, firing away with both hands. Kennedy giving ground, trying to manage a bit, but having precious little success doing that..."
Cassie: "Playing for time."
O'Dell: "And Paula knows that very, very well. Patton cleaning up beautifully, but Kennedy staving off defeat here and beginning to fire back in spots. Legs coming around as she shakes the worst of the damage. Patton still having the better of things, though..."
McCarthy: "Ref should have stopped this thing last round. He's bought and paid for!"
O'Dell: "We're into the final seconds of the fourth. Ladies fighting on fairly even terms now, but it's much too late for that to matter as far as the points go. There's the bell. Not close in the fourth. It's Patton for the second round in a row."
Tess: "And we're even at 38."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Back to even terms now. Paula no longer pressing forward, willing to go back to boxing now that McMann has shaken the damage from the third. Redhead and brunette both working hard at range once again, both scoring well..."
McCarthy: "Patton just needs to stay patient. She'll get this FRAUD..."
O'Dell: "Both fighters staying patient right now. Both moving the feet, head, and hands. Working the left jab, dropping rights off it. NICE exchange there and both women landed a hard right hand in it. Both take the shell and keep working..."
Tess: "Got to wonder if Kennedy gets an advantage as this goes on, being much younger than Paula..."
O'Dell: "Could be, but Patton's clearly in great shape. We're down under fifteen seconds to go in the fifth. It's been close the whole way and nothing's going to change that now. SHARP trade and there's the bell. Very close. Patton."
Cassie: "And, Paula leads it 48-47 at the half."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Pattern pretty much set now. Both fighters want to go ahead and work at range, and both have been plenty successful at it so far. McMann setting up behind that long left. When she gets it on target, she follows with solid right hands..."
Cassie: "And, Patton doing the same..."
O'Dell: "And having quite similar success. GOOD exchange right there and Kennedy backed Paula up a step, but Patton right back to the front foot. Not going to let the redhead toss her onto the defensive again like she did in the first..."
McCarthy: "Keep after her. She'll crumble!"
O'Dell: "That's what Paula's doing. Meanwhile, Kennedy also working hard and scoring well as we head into the final seconds of a competitive sixth round. Nice combination from McMann and there's the bell. Close. This one to Kennedy."
Tess: "And we're even at 57."
ROUND SEVEN:
O'Dell: "Right back to range to start the seventh. Brunette and redhead working the long left jab, looking to create openings for hard right hands. SHARP right hand there from Paula snaps back Kennedy's head and Patton stepping to now..."
McCarthy: "GET HER! GET HER!"
O'Dell: "Paula inside working body. McMann banging back. Ladies trading some serious shots now and DOWN GOES PATTON! Oh, a short left hook from the redhead lands on the button and Paula NOSES IN AT HER FEET!"
McCarthy: "GET UP! GET UP!"
Tess: "What a SHOT..."
O'Dell: "Kennedy to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Paula pushing to hands and knees at six and SINKS BACK TO THE CANVAS AT SEVEN. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO7 is Kennedy 'Mac The Knife' McMann!"
Cassie: "What Tess said. What a SHOT..."
AFTER:
O'Dell: 'Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Kennedy McMann, and, Kennedy, tough and physical in there..."
Kennedy (nodding): "No doubt. Knew it would be. She's slick and tough and can really hit. A real challenge. But, I met it. Just like I knew I would."
Tess: "2024 is looming and it looks like you might be in the title picture at two weights..."
Kennedy (smiling): "That's what I'm hoping, Tess. That's what I'm hoping."
