The November PPV is now history. The card was smaller than usual to the relief of those who do the archives. Those fifty fight cards may be great for the FCBA, but they are a pain is the ass for those who do the history work.
The card contained three title fights. There wasn’t a lightweight title fight. That is scheduled for early December. None of the three title fights on the card resulted it a title change. Vanessa Hudgens retained the flyweight title by beating Camila Mendes. Priyanka Chopra kept the bantam title by beating Natalie Dormer, who hadn’t beaten a ranked fighter in at least eight years. Kate Upton is still the welter champ after KOing Daniele Herrington.
The Wiz stole my thunder by naming possible contenders for the titles. He thinks that Maddie Zeigler should get a shot and I cannot disagree with him. Also he likes to spread the titles around and that eliminates Lavigne and Cameron who have had titles recently. He has a fighter in his own stable who could get a title shot and that is Billie Eilish who is undefeated in 24 and has beaten some good fighters. For the next flyweight title shot I go with Zeigler of Eilish.
That bantam division is very deep. Bella Thorne’s name come up frequently when talking about bantam condenders. Kosarin’s name also comes up. Forget her. She has already had a title shot. Thorne looks good, but there is one who has the credentials, and that is Selena Gomez who is 6-1 for the year with a win over Chopra. She has fought Chopra twice and won both times. Will Chopra take that chance?
The lightweight title is up for grabs with Stana Katic fights Taylor Swift on the FNL Final Resolutions card on December 8.
Upton is still Queen of the Welters. As for as contenders are concerned I can’t recall a time when Righetti’s name was not on the table. The welters for years was a closed club but has become more competitive. Hannah Ferguson’s win over Palicki continued a great year. Kostek has beaten Ferguson, but a loss to DiDonato probably eliminated her. Even if Valmore is now with Front Street. we still have our sources of information. It looks like Righetti or Ferguson, but we understand that Upton under intense pressure to be the champion when she fights on the February 2004 PPV which would dictate she fight a lesser opponent. Seems her February opponent wants to fight a title holder and not some JMDD queen. I doubt that will influence her decision, but will it be Righetti or Ferguson? If it was me I’d take Ferguson,
