BEFORE:
"This kid has plenty of potential," Ali admits with a smile. "But. She's not at championship-level yet. And, it may have been a while since I've been in the ring, but, I absolutely AM a champion."
"Ali's a skilled, experienced veteran," Tate says with a nod. "This won't be easy. But, I AM going to get another win."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and the four-sided giant screen lowered over the arena, which means Asylum Beach, is about to get some use. And that's 'She's Kinda Hot' by Five Seconds of Summer you here, and here comes blonde beauty Ali Larter across the sand!"
McCarthy: "Nothin' but a number. This girl is a THREE-TIME lightweight champion and Weirdo's Dancing Hooker hasn't won anything but a bunch of set ups against tomato cans!"
O'Dell: "Ali into the ring and helped off with the robe and she's clearly still in great shape if the crowd's reaction to Ms. Larter in that yellow bikini is any indication. And, that's 'Vicious' you hear hammering through the arena, and that can only mean that 'The Calgary Crusader', Tate McRae, is on her way across the beach..."
Tess: "Tate continuing to work her way through the developmental stage here at Front Street, picking up wins and improving along the way..."
O'Dell: "McRae climbs between the ropes and is helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and the crowd giving it up for the lovely brunette in that admiral blue number she likes. Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Tate. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Larter's a champion. Ali!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Here we go. Tate getting to work showing that athleticism. She is bouncin' and misbehavin' out there, snapping that jab, circling, popping forward and getting off quickly, then circling away. This is flyweight stuff from a girl who can fight welter..."
Cassie: "As Uncle Wiz always says, the best athlete ever in the FCBA..."
McCarthy: "She can't hold a CANDLE to J-Mac!"
O'Dell: "Larter looking to find spots to get some work in here, but she's having trouble getting much going. Tate just on a roll here early, finding spots and getting off in combination. Blonde on the back foot and the brunette is keeping her there..."
Tess: "Excellent stuff from McRae, who doesn't seem to be slowed much by the sand."
O'Dell: "She's kickin' up a TON of it right now, though, as we head into the final ten seconds of the first. SHARP combination by Tate backs up the blonde and there's the bell. Not close at all in the first. McRae takes it wide and leads 10-9."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Ali settling in some now. Tate continuing to move, but the jab and circle routine has turned into more of an effort to bounce forward and get off quickly. Larter looking to limit those with her jab and she's managing to do so."
McCarthy: "No substitute for experience. None."
O'Dell: "And, the blonde has that in spades, no doubt. She's getting that jab home, following on, putting punches together. Tate, meanwhile, getting to those middle distances with the bounce and scoring well when she does so."
Tess: "Not a lot of separation in this one."
O'Dell: "Not much at all as we head down the stretch. It's been good, two-way action, as both fighters get work done and neither is able to take control. Final seconds tick away and there's the bell. Nothing in it at all. Even round."
Cassie: "And Tate continues to have the one point edge, 20-19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third underway on the same terms as the second. Ali wants to box at range. Tate not quite willing to do that, she wants to pop forward to middle distances and get off quickly. And, again, both fighters getting some, but not all of what they want."
Cassie: "LOTS of sand being kicked up right now..."
O'Dell: "Sure is, because there's a lot of foot movement going on. Both of these fighters are good boxers and both move well. Larter's using her range and experience to offset McRae's athleticism, and we've got ourselves another two-way round..."
McCarthy: "If Larter just stays patient, she'll GET this kid..."
O'Dell: "We're coming down the stretch in the third. Again, not a lot in it, as both fighters are getting work done and neither is taking control of things. Ladies trade there and Tate landed a solid right hand. There's the bell. Close. Ali."
Tess: "And, we're even at 29."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Into the fourth, and both blonde and brunette continuing to work their fight plans. Larter at range, using the jab, Tate popping to middle distances to get off in combination. And, for the third round in a row, nobody gaining a real advantage..."
Tess: "I'm impressed with Larter. She's not in her prime anymore, but she's still slick and still quick..."
O'Dell: "And that jab is still plenty accurate, as Tate has found out again and again. Ali working it, dropping in a right hand, Tate pops forward and STAGGERS LARTER with a right hook! Ali stumbles back and CRASHES TO THE SAND AFTER A STRAGHT RIGHT!"
Cassie: "NASTY punch!"
O'Dell: "McRae to a neutral corner. Larter down on her back, staring up at the referee. Count at three, four, five. She rolls to her belly at six. Pushes off the sand at seven. Gets to all fours at eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Ali can't get off her hands and knees and it's OVER and your winner by KO4 is 'The Calgary Crusader' Tate McRae!"
McCarthy: "Lucky punch!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go across the street to Cassie Scerbo!"
Cassie: "I have our winner, Tate McRae, and, Tate, you seem to like the sand..."
Tate (smiling): "Well, I'm pretty light on my feet, so it doesn't slow me down. I can move well on it, so I have an advantage over some girls on the beach."
Cassie: "Are more fights on the sand coming?"
Tate (grinning): "Light, welter, beach, JMDD, I'm ready for any of it. The rest is up to YOU!"
