BEFORE:
"Look," says Christina with a smile. "I GET that this girl is athletic and all that, but this is WELTERWEIGHT and it's JMDD. She can NOT compete with ME."
"Yeah," says Tate with a smile, "She's bigger than me. But, she's NOT better than me."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Step On' by Happy Mondays, and here comes redhead beauty Christina Hendricks."
McCarthy: "Hendricks was here LAST year and she should have beaten Perry. Perry's a Dancing Hooker, of course, but she's better than this McRae kid. Hendricks is gonna DESTROY this wannabe!"
O'Dell: "Christina into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a black number that has the crowd popping in a big way. And, that's 'Vicious' you hear hammering through the arena, and that can only mean that the singer of that tune, 'The Calgary Crusader', Tate McRae, is on her way to the ring."
Cassie: "Tate's been everything we expected her to be and more. Management is VERY high on her."
O'Dell: "McRae into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and the crowd loving the brunette that in that admiral blue two-piece we've seen before. Ladies just about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Tate. Mac?
McCarthy: "Like I said, Hendricks is going to DESTROY this kid..."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Here we go. Christina coming forward immediately, wants to bring that power to bear and Tate hanging right in there with her, banging right back! It's JMDD, sure, but I've got to admit, I figured McRae was going to want to box here..."
McCarthy: "That's what she SHOULD be doing, but her management is CLUELESS..."
O'Dell: "Hendricks getting some heavy leather going and backing up the younger woman, working a little early jug. Tate firing back, trying to hold canvas, but she's not getting that done at the moment. Instead, it's the redhead who's taking control now."
Tess: "McRae clearly has a ton of power and she's VERY sturdy, but standing in front of Hendricks might not be the best of ideas..."
O'Dell: "Down the stretch we come, and Christina in complete control now. She's not managed to hurt the younger woman, but she's got Tate on the back foot. Brunette's unable to get out of reverse right to the bell. Not close. Hendricks."
Cassie: "And, Christina grabs the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins with more of what we'd expected to see from McRae. She's working the left hand, moving the feet, forcing Hendricks to work to close. Christina's seen this all before, of course, so she's stalking patiently."
McCarthy: "Sooner or later, Hendricks hits a big one, and, when she does, the Dancing Hooker goes to dreamland!"
O'Dell: "Tate with a good combination. She stops the redhead briefly in her tracks, but only briefly. Christina forward, tying up, shoving the lighter woman back, landing a solid right hand. McRae fires back with a nice combination..."
Cassie: "That right hand got Hendricks' attention..."
O'Dell: "It certainly landed with some power. We're under twenty seconds to go in the second. SHARP exchange there with both fighters landing a good right hand, and there's the bell. Close this time. Tate gets the points..."
Tess: "And evens things at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third underway with Hendricks aggressively forward. She's boring in behind the right hand, forcing the brunette backward. Tate not going to stand in front of her this frame. She's moving laterally, giving ground..."
Tess: "Like we said earlier with Jovovich, you have to think, the longer this goes on, the more it benefits McRae..."
O'Dell: "Absolutely. Which is likely why Christina's dialing up the aggression. She's landing some good shot here, though not as much as she'd like, because the Canadian can be plenty elusive when she wants to be..."
McCarthy: "She's running away is what she's doing."
O'Dell: "We enter the final thirty seconds of the round with the redhead maintaining the aggression. Lands a GOOD right hand there that backed up the brunette. Five seconds left. Tate circling away and there's the bell. Hendricks easily."
Cassie: "And Christina now leads 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "McRae on the move as we start the fourth. She's jabbing, circling, moving the head and hands, on her toes as Hendricks looks to work forward. Brunette hooking rack off that jab now, and Christina not at all liking it..."
Cassie: "But staying sound and working forward."
O'Dell: "That's what a good, veteran fighter does. Right now, though, it's the 20-year-old who's getting the work done. Tate using all that speed and athleticism very, very well. She's getting the jab on target, dropping rights behind it..."
McCarthy: "Then running away. She can run, but she can't hide!"
O'Dell: "Final twenty seconds of the fourth. Best round of the fight so far for the brunette. GOOD combination McRae and she hooked some more rack in it, ducks a rejoinder, lands a solid right hook in counter, and there's the bell. Not close. Tate."
Tess: "And, we're even at 38."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Fifth begins the way the fourth ended. McRae in rhythm now, movin' and groovin', landing punches in bunches and slipping away before Hendricks can...RIGHT HAND, TATE AND CHRISTINA IS HURT! Hendricks all WOBBLY BUTT as the brunette goes ALL IN!"
Tess: "Not sure how many girls in the FCBA take that and keep standing, but not many..."
O'Dell: "McRae hammering away, driving Hendricks to the ropes and GOING RACK NOW, pummeling away to jug as Hendricks tries to tie up, tries to cover up, but she is taking a BEATING and DOWN SHE GOES! A right hook to the jug and a left to the chin and DOWN SHE GOES!"
Cassie: "That may do it..."
O'Dell: "Christina down on her left side, parallel to the ropes Tate to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Hendricks reaching back for the ropes, pulling herself to a sitting position. Six. Seven. Hendricks to her feet at eight. Ref going to give her the mandatory...and wave on Tate! McRae all OVER the redhead now. Christina pinned to the ropes. Tate HUP HUP to jug. Hendricks trying to tie up. GOOD right hook, Tate...it's OVER! The referee has seen enough and it's OVER! And your winner by TKO5 is 'The Calgary Crusader', Tate McRae!"
McCarthy: "Hometown ref!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Tate McRae, and, Tate, a lot of slugging from you early..."
Tate (nodding): "I'm not as big as the biggest welters, girls like her, but everybody needs to know I can stand in there and bang with any girl in the FCBA, and that's what I wanted to prove early."
Tess: "Later on, you got rolling..."
Tate (smiling): "Well, being athletic in there, that's my thing. I knew I could control the geometry with my quickness and movement, and I did. Sooner or later, I was gonna get her. And, I did THAT, too."
"Look," says Christina with a smile. "I GET that this girl is athletic and all that, but this is WELTERWEIGHT and it's JMDD. She can NOT compete with ME."
