MELISSA BENOIST VS BRIE LARSON

Before: Melissa Benoist enters this beach bout in an unusual position. She used the prefight press meeting to explain it to her fans.
“I had been offered an opportunity to join the roster of the Queens of Absolution,” she says. “I will admit it pained me to leave the PLP. I have been with them since 2017, but you reach a point when you look at where you are going and think a change is needed. I will always be grateful for my years with the Punchers. They are good people, but I now have the chance to start over with a very new organization. I want to finish my PLP years with a win, but win or lose, I will be moving on to what I hope will be a career renewal.”
Brie Larson doesn’t try to match the drama of that narrative. Instead she says: “I appreciate that Melissa will be fighting extra hard I this fight, but I have a job to do: when this fight for MY stable. This will be my first fight with ‘Supergirl’ and wouldn’t want someone to say ‘Captain Marvel’ couldn’t beat her.”
This makes Melissa smile: “Now don’t go say things like that. Supergirl never backs down from a fight and not even a cosmic superheroine like Captain Marvel can intimidate her.”
“I am not trying to intimidate, I am just warning what to expect,” Brie replies.
“Then you should expect a lot more than you are bargaining for,” Melissa says with a tight smile.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way,” Brie says and offers her hand.
“Me either,” Melissa said shaking Brie’s hand, “and now let’s give the crowd what they have been waiting for.”
The fighters are soon assembled in the FCBA beach ring. The bleachers are filled with excited fans. Brie and Melissa have shed their short robes before climbing into the ring. Brie is in a dark pink faux lingerie bikini with white gloves and pink laces. Her hair is in a simple ponytail. Melissa is in a white bikini with dark blue leaf designs. She wears blue gloves with white laces with her hair pulled back in ponytail. The ring instructions go smoothly. There is quick tap of the gloves and very shortly the fighters are in their corners looking eager to go as crowd vlume rises expectantly. The bell rings: DING!
R1: Brie and Melissa are out smoothly on the sand as they head for the middle of the ring. Melissa striking first with quick jabs into Brie’s face. Brie steps back, ducks down and then comes back with a hammering right uppercut to Melissa’s chin. Melissa recoiling in confusion and Brie quickly to take advantage of Melissa’s dazed state. Brie smacking rights and lefts off Melissa’s jaw until Melissa can get her high guard up. Then Brie goes with hooks to the midsection. Melissa using her jab again to disrupt Brie with blows to the face. Brie circles, bobbing and weaving to draw Melissa off balance. Melissa looks just a little slow in staying with Brie and this allows Brie to score with answering face jabs of her own. Melissa gets her high guard back up, but again Brie responds with hooks to the body to close out the round. Brie Larson wins it wide.
R2: Melissa and Brie again out smoothly and quickly, but this time Melissa lands terrific right to Brie’s cheekbone that swivels her head. Then Melissa brings in a left to the jaw, a right to the jaw and then a right to the chin. Brie staggering from these successive impacts. She stumbles back, her gloves up lose to her face and Melissa presses forward to the body. Meaty hooks from Melissa tear into Brie’s rib cage and breasts. Then down to work over Brie’s abs. Brie trying to fight back as Melissa strives to get her on the ropes. Brie manages to keep off the ropes and even offer some late jabs to mark up Melissa’s face to avoid the shutut. However Melissa Benoist has won the round wide.
R3: Melissa Benoist now opens by crowding in close to Brie Larson as they resume action in the new round. Melissa using her hook to batter away at Brie’s already tenderized torso. Close in pressure is bottling Brie up, but she fights back with hooks of her own. Now both bodies are getting worked over under the blazing sun and sweat is spraying off their bodies as the round grinds on. Tough, in the trenches fighting and both fighters are pushing in, However a series of belly hooks causes Brie to gasp audibly and then a quick Benoist right to the jaw. Brie Larson knocked back. She shakes it off and tries to hold Melissa off. They are back with the body banging to the bell. Close, hard-fought round, but the judges’ give to Melissa Benoist.
R4: Out they come for the new round, Brie moving forward and looking to regain momentum with shots at Melissa’s head. Melissa banged early, but drops back, regains her senses an then circles back at Brie. Brie coming in hard and fast. Now they are in a sharp exchange of punches to the jaw, chin and head. Hard, head turning blows and crowd on its feet cheering them on as they sense something’s got to give. AND BRIE LARSON GOES DOWN! Not so much one blow as the build up one punch after another to the chin and jaw from Melissa Benoist. Bries uddenly just gets dropped hard into the sand and sits there with a blank look on her face. Melissa hastens to the neutral corner and looks back hopefully. Unfortunately for Melissa, Brie is able to shake off enough cobwebs in her brain to get her body upright to break the count at “EIGHT!” Fight soon resumes, but Brie now very defensive, just trying to block or duck Melissa’s punches, and it does get her to the bell still standing. However the knockdown assures Melissa Benoist that she’s won the round wide.
R5: Brie Larson now comes at Melissa Benoist and challenges her with more toe-to-toe body punching, Melissa answers with a barrage of body blows of her own and the pace grows rapidly. Although breasts and ribs are given a working over by Brie she settles late with a sustained attack on Melissa’s belly. Melissa begins to shudder and tip forward under the impacts as they radiate through her body. She is gurgling and gasping, though still trying to stand there and punch. Brie stepping up the already torrid pace in the final moments and she has Melissa doubled up at the bell. Melissa looks shaken it takes a few moments before she an pull herself together to return to her corner. What still a close round, but Brie Larson pounded a close win with that relentless belly attack.
R6: The fighters are out promptly at the bell. Brie starts by going after Melissa to the body once again, but Melissa not interested this round. She is hitting at Brie from a distance, banging her up to the face and head. Brie hanging in as close as she can, but she is eating a lot of Melissa’s jabs in the process. Brie then goes hit-and-run. She darts and pounds Melissa’s badly bruised abs. Melissa hunching up and its slowing down her counters as she struggles to guard her throbbing midsection. In and out Brie goes until she’s got Melissa in a rhythm, expecting more punches to her aching belly and trying to block this. Then Brie suddenly goes to the chin and jaw with lightning strike right/left combos that the distracted Melissa doesn’t see coming. Melissa trying to get back, but her legs become entangled MELISSA BENOIST FALLING ON HER SIDE! On the way down, Brie able to add one last right to the jaw as a coup de grace. Melissa lies huddled on the sand as Brie trots to the neutral corner. Referee counts. Melissa stirs, but all she can do is push up on one arm and realize she can go no further. Se hangs her head as the referee concludes:
“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!..YOU ARE OUT!”
THE WINNER: BRIE LARSON DEFEATS MELISAA BENOIST KO6!
After: “That was some fight, wasn’t it?” Brie Larson remarks after the fight. “I will admit she gave me a scare with that knockdown. If I hadn’t been able to clear my head and make it up in time, I would be talking to as the winner. Melissa is a dangerous fighter and any opponent who doubts that could be in for a very unpleasant surprise.”
Melissa takes the time to shake hands with her PLP corner crew and stablemates for the last time as a Puncher. Then she speaks to the press: “Of course I was hoping for a better outcome in this fight. I was glad to hear Brie call me ‘dangerous’ because I think a very dangerous. I am hoping that my new management will help become the big winning fighter I just know I am.”
Not the farewell to her old stable fight that Melissa Benoist had hoped for, but she certainly gave a very good try and nearly pulled it off. Unfortunately for Melissa, Brie Larson was tough enough to come off the sand and fight her way to victory. Very good win for Brie. Melissa can now head for her new stable and see if a re-tooling will bring her a rising win column in record
