Our reporter sits in The Great Room at The Manor watching baseball and sipping cold beverages with Poindexter Del Crunchy and the Man In The Hat.
Reporter: "So, guys, Amy Acker had some things to say about Front Street that, maybe, weren't so kind..."
Pointy (smiling): "Now, lad, are you trying to stir up trouble..."
Man In The Hat (laughing): "Well, I didn't find much to be upset about. Now, I don't think the word 'sluggish' applies to us. Yes, we DO tend to plan out our Asylum cards two or three months at a time, but that doesn't prevent us from being agile. For example, you were at the gym today. Did you notice who was workin' with Anna Torv?"
Reporter: "Sure. Cristy Ren."
Man In The Hat: "Exactly. I think that was a pretty agile move. We didn't plan for months to make that move. We looked around, thought we needed to make a change, and MADE it. And, the same is true with Asylum cards. Yes, we plan them out months ahead, but, we remain flexible. If other opportunities arise, we make changes. So, while I agree that we have an OLDER perspective, as we've been around here a long time, I don't think it's sluggish."
Reporter: "That's the only thing you have to take issue with?"
Man In The Hat: "Pretty much, yes. The rest of what Amy said...our stables are different, yes. We have different goals. Yes. We do things differently. Yes. And, as she indicated, there's nothing wrong with that...in fact, it's a GOOD thing. Every stable here is different. Every stable does things differently. We all have different goals. And, that's what makes this place great. If we were all the same, well. It would get pretty borin'. When there's only one way to win, that's exactly what happens. Why do you think baseball just changed the rules?"
Pointy: "And, in the FCBA there ARE a lot of ways to win. Take a look at some of the long-standing stables here. HISC has always been a smaller stable, usually competing in only two divisions. But, that hasn't stopped them from being VERY successful."
Man In The Hat: "Sceej has always been even smaller and just signed its first flyweight EVER. But, none of that has stopped the stable from winnin' titles, plenty of 'em. Even carryin' around the wrinkled albatross that IS McCarthy hasn't done THAT."
Reporter: "So, you're not saying what Queens is doing won't work?"
Man In The Hat: "Not at ALL. It may well work for THEM. It won't work for US. Because we do things differently and have different goals. And, allow me to be clear on this point, much like Amy, we hope to work with Queens goin' forward. We think they have a bunch of talented fighters over there that we could make great fights with. And, they DO entertain. A LOT. They're good for the FCBA and we wish 'em well. So. No hard feelings. Now. Let's watch some ball, shall we?
