We join in on a show already in progress with Natalie Dormer hosting at her mark and guest Amy Acker sitting in her chair at the first guest mark, speaking with the blonde English woman.
Natalie: I have to admit, Boxing World Online did bring up some good points in their most recent commentary about our show. What does face a stable of this size?
Amy: Well, you have to remember, they are coming from a much older, much more sluggish perspective even though they’ve been a part of the FCBA through two commissioners. I enjoyed the perspective they had to offer but the reality is: we’re not Front Street and we do things a lot differently because we both have different goals in mind. And those different goals is what makes us more adaptable to the climate than they are.
Natalie: Such as how anything with them is planned ‘months in advanced’ as a paraphrase and that rigidity causes the loss of being able to participate or change directions on a dime when needed?
Amy: Exactly. To start, I think Front Street, on BWO made it clear that their main goal are those title shots - etc. See, that differs from us as title shots are nice and we look forward to having them but we want to put on a show for the fans of the FCBA; something which I think gives us more freedom. That means sometimes we make interesting choices and one of those has led us to being the largest stable in the FCBA. Showmanship is something we look for in addition to other qualities.
Natalie: So in the Queens you’re not just competing in the FCBA but you are also having to think about how to give others entertainment?
Amy: Indeed. So think of it this way. We’d love to see Elyse, Krysten, Tiera, or any of the other welterweights on the Queens have a welterweight title shot. But we also like Saraya who is always a show and a fighter. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that as it allows us to push boundaries on the entertainment side. An FCBA event with the Queens is very different than with someone like the VIXENs and that’s not a bad thing.
Natalie: So how do you balance all of those individuals?
Amy: Rotational teams but giving our fighters the option and freedom to take part in a challenge in a PPV that they’re not up for rotation for. And to make it easy we have three rotations: one led by Elyse, one led by Krysten, and one led by Tiera. Then of course, we select who makes sense for an event so no one is sitting on the bench unless we really can’t find a suitable match for them.
Natalie: So to phrase what the Man In the Hat said more accurately: “the smaller model is what you need for today’s FCBA if you are linear in what you want to do.”
Amy: Exactly. Which is fine - not everyone wants to be at the boundary pushing the edge like we do. So let’s talk about it this way, when you compare Queens and Front Street you’re comparing Apples to Oranges.
Natalie: I should take a moment that Amy did want me to mention here that we’d love to work with Front Street and compete against each other in front of the FCBA at some point.
Amy: Now those predictions from Tess…
Natalie: I know you don’t like her too much at all.
Amy: No I don’t but I do like she predicted Jess to win - if only because Tess doesn’t know much more than the height advantage. Kelli losing on the other hand, well, I want to see the outcome of the match.
Natalie: Finally, let’s talk about events that the Queen’s host; I know those are a central focus for the Queens.
Amy: It is and we have Prelude to Retribution, Retribution, and a few others coming up later this year. Some of the events are still in discussion with our commissioner and others will have their date posted by him!
Natalie: Sounds exciting! Alright everyone, we’ll be right back after this.
