Our reporter and his blonde companion sit in the Man In The Hat's office at Front Street.
Reporter: "So, Wiz, quite a finish for the Diamond Boxing Tournament..."
Man In The Hat: "Like I've said repeatedly, son, that tournament has been a star maker for the bigs. You've seen girls like Gillan and Lawley come out of it, and now you've got Willerton and Clauson. I can't wait until next year's event."
Tess: "Some of the other fighters may have been helped, too..."
Man In The Hat: "Agreed. Getting a bunch of consistent work is usually a good thing for a fighter. And, some of these girls have, no doubt, caught some eyes..."
Reporter: "Clauson was the big winner...and I can't help but notice that she's lost ONE of her last 14 fights...and the girl who beat her is Kara Del Toro..."
Tess: "Are we still ON that?"
Man In The Hat (laughing): "Well, it ain't often I defend Smackeroo, but this part I get. The decision on Kara is not exactly chalk..."
Reporter: "Again, two fights, both title fights..."
Man In The Hat: "You remember Eddie George, son?"
Reporter: "Sure. Pro Bowl back for the Titans back around the turn of the century..."
Tess: "I know why you didn't ask if I remember Eddie..."
Man In The Hat (laughing): "I was pretty sure I knew the answer to that one. Anyway, Eddie was, of course, a BUCKEYE before he was a Titan and he's also a Philly native. I always liked the guy. But. Do you know what his career yards-per-carry was? 3.6..."
Reporter: "That's not a great number..."
Tess: "Especially because, as I recall, he had some issues with fumbling..."
Man In The Hat: "It is not. And he did. And, advanced metrics, which they didn't HAVE back then, show exactly what you'd expect for a guy averaging 3.6 yards a carry. Yet, he was allowed to eat up tons of touches despite logging a NEGATIVE value over average in most of his seasons. Now, I'm not sayin' the guy wasn't an NFL caliber player or even a good player. He was. But, his production, despite the Pro Bowl nods and MVP votes was pretty average..."
Reporter: "OK, wait..."
Man In The Hat: "Now, before you go jumpin' to any conclusions, I'm NOT sayin' Del Toro isn't a good fighter, or even a VERY good one. She is. I'm just sayin' that we felt we needed to make a change at lightweight. We had an opportunity to do that with Cristy, and we took advantage of it. And, you know what ELSE you want to take advantage of? Chef's stuffed burgers..."
Tess: "Let's GO!"
