The June PPV was a large 44 bout card that featured title fights in all four division. Of course, there was a plethora of fights for meaningly worthless titles that seem to be so popular today. Avril Lavigne defended her flyweight title by turning back Jenna Ortega. Kira Kosarin is still the bantam champ after beating Selena Gomez. Emile DiDonato retained her lightweight title by disposing of Taylor Hill and finally Blake Lively remained the welter title holder by knocking out Hannah Ferguson
In the flyweights, Billie Eilish probably made the biggest upward move by beating Natalie Portman. Dove Cameron also made a big move by knocking out Emma Watson. I think the next title fight for Lavigne should come from Vanessa Hudgens, Billie Eilish or Dove Cameron. Cameron’s chances for a title fight are somewhat lessened by her holding the title eight months ago. I don’t know how management feels about spreading title fights around.
The bantams continue to be ruled by Kosarin. Possible challengers for the title could be Bella Thorne, Lil Reinhart and Priyanka Chopra. Thorne and Chopra are out since Kosarin has already beaten Thorne it a title fight this year and she beat Chopra late last year. Lili Reinhart may be hurt by her holding the bantam championship last year. Demi Rose is another who lost a title fight this year. Natalie Lind could be a choice, but she lost to Kosarin last year. About the only top ten bantams Kosarin hasn’t beaten recently are Reinhart and Bennet. Of the two, I would prefer Reinhart
In the lightweights, the situation is similar to that of the bantams. DiDonato has beaten a number of the the top ten lightweights or attractive challengers. Kendall Jenner would be a top choice, but she lost to DiDonato last December. Ren would be a choice, but she just lost to Jenner. I think the best choices are Hailey Clauson, who is 10-1 this year and Kelly Rohrbach who has won eight of her last ten. Of the two, Rohrbach would be my choice
No matter what some say, the welters are basically a closed club. That said, Lively is somewhat of a mystery. This year, she has fought a bantam, lightweights and welters. She may be a throw back to Theron in her prime when as a lightweight, she won a number of welter titles and even a middleweight after which she returned not to welter, but to lightweight. Like the problem in the bantams, similar problems exist. She beat Righetti early this year and Upton in the middle of last year. I think the top fights would be a rematch with either of the two. Another who can’t be overlooked is Lawley.
At this point in the year. there have been forty nine new fighters introduced into the FCBA, far outpacing last year. This is becoming a problem as fighters aren’t retiring and are fighting into their fifties. This year, we had one fight involving a 58 year old. A lot of the fighters in their forties are active. As usual most of those new fighters will be lucky to get three fights in their career and the fight index gets longer and longer. Again, I think that anyone who wants to introduce a new fighter should guarantee five fight in the first two years or permanently be barred from introducing new fighters.
