Our reporter and his blonde companion enter Front Street to find all three rings in use. In one, Gemma Arterton works with Anna Torv for Mariska. In another, it's Leighton Meester and Jamie Lynn Spears as Britney looks on. And, in the third, Leven Rambin works with Grace Park as Neve shouts instructions. The reporters walk through the gym, waiving greetings at several ladies conditioning on various pieces of equipment around the ring before making their way back to the hall leading to the offices, turning right, and finding the door at the end open.
Man In The Hat: "Tess! Come on in! Get IN here, Zlatko!"
The reporters enter and take seats in front of the desk.
Reporter: "So, Wiz, what did you think of the Punchaholics card?"
Man In The Hat: "Some good fights on there. That Popplewell kid. I like her. Acker's already proven she's a contender. Minaj might surprise some people yet. Montgomery's no pushover. Lawley's issue is the same as the one as Gale. She's so big nobody wants to fight her. I still like Hendricks a lot. But, as I told everybody when she came here, Schumer's big and rugged and has the power to fight anybody."
Reporter (smiling): "What did you think of Tess' predictions..."
Tess: "SERIOUSLY? Do you WANT to be single???"
Man In The Hat (laughing): "I liked them. Just like I always like them. I enjoy Tess' insights. And, I like the way she writes."
Reporter: "Is Pink coming to the end of her career, like Tess says?"
Tess: "Somebody is just ACHING to..."
Man In The Hat: "That depends on Pink. She's 37. But. She's in great shape and lightly raced. She can fight until she's 40, like Grace did. Or, maybe she won't want to go that long. It's up to her. She's on a lifetime deal, so, when she decides to retire from the ring, she'll step into a VP role here at Front Street. I don't expect that to happen any time, soon, though."
Reporter: "How about Mack making the Hall of Fame?"
Man In The Hat: "As you know, I don't really expect any of our girls to make the Hall because of the way we book and the way we use our fighters. This next fight will be Allison's 78th fight. That means she'd need 22 more. She'll likely get one more this year. Maybe even two, but, either way, she'd need to fight four more years to get to 100. Will she? Up to her. If she wants to, that will happen."
Tess: "Before my betrothed asks another question and gets in even deeper, you're talking about retirements...albeit some years into the future. You've had Jewel, and Neve, and Grace..."
Man In The Hat: "Here's the thing. This wasn't something we had to deal with initially, as we were signing girls in their primes and young, developing fighters. But. We'll have been around seven years come February, so, careers progress. Allison's, obviously, only 34 and still has plenty of good years left. She's not going anywhere. But, retirements are something we'll be dealing with in future years. And, as was the case with Jewel, Neve, and Gracie, the fighter will tell ME when she's ready to step behind the scenes. It's not something I'm expecting to deal with soon. But, it's something we know we'll deal with in the future."
Reporter: "Tess says she isn't completely sold on Meester..."
Tess: "When you're in a hole, stop digging..."
Man In The Hat: "Well. That's a prudent position to take, frankly. This was always going to be a big year for Leighton. And, it has been. She's had a good one. And, as I've said, beat McCurdy, and it will be MORE than just a good one. I think it puts her in the title picture and right up with Kristen in our pecking order."
Tess (smiling): "What do you think of my position on Spiridakos?"
Man In The Hat: "Also prudent. Though, I will disagree with Rambin's current Front Street position. 2016 is a big year for Leven as well. And, it's been a very GOOD year. If she can show something against Tracy, well. I'd say 2016 will turn out to be JUST the year she needed. That being said, Tracy's the favorite, and she should be. She's a heck of a fighter."
Reporter: "Tess had some good things to say about Kesha..."
Man In The Hat: "Again, prudent. Big K is one of our most improved fighters. She's always been dangerous, because of her power. But, she's more than that now. She's a total package fighter, one who can, I believe, beat anyone in the FCBA. And, I mean ANYone. As Tess points out, Rihanna's dangerous. Plenty dangerous. So, it will be a heck of a fight. And, a lot of fun to watch. In fact, it will be almost as much fun as having Chef's grilled lobster paella..."
Tess: "Let's..."
Reporter: "I hear you. I hear you...."
