Odds & Ends Beach Season openers have been the official beginning of the spring season since 2013, and this year was no exception. What we can expect to see this year:
1) Lightweights The O&E Tiffany division has struggled since Lima lost the Ice Hotel five years ago. However, the platoon of Kelsey Merritt and Neriah Fisher are a combined 5-1 on the year with only one opponent making it through the fifth. Clearly comfortable at the weight and against their opposition, there's been no real grumbling about Didonato's decision to give Merritt a shot at the Lightweight belts.
2) Brianna Dale Odd Man has never been ashamed to have a 50-50 fighter to put on the front of the card. Kendra Wilkinson fulfilled that role for years, Demi Rose was clearly intended for that role until she lived up to the hype accompanying any short, round pressure fighting bantam and actually BE the second coming of Dani Fishel. She may well never hold a belt, (but the tiaras may not be out of her reach) but Tractorpull should get used to looking at those tats, because fighters who can shake off four knockdowns or come out on top in the first three knockdown round we've seen in a decade, are not going anywhere anytime soon
3) The O&E/IBB feud. It is indisputable that there are more IBB bikini tops in the O&E trophy case than the the reverse. It is also indisputable that since IBB opened hostilties by taking two out of three beach bouts from the O&E bantams in 2021, IBB has acquired 2 JMD and one JMDD titles, while O&E can only claim the Princess of the Beach. The two stables are trying to occupy the same space, they are both trying to shove the other stable out of said space, and so far neither is showing any signs of budging. Which leads us to:
4) Camila Mendes The only fighter in either stable who has not suffered a loss in this extended stable war, barring fighters like Trivizas or Sabatini who have not yet taken part. She suddenly finds herself the most powerful piece on the board, as she is now:
a) O&E stable rules require the fifth defense of a title to be in-house. Demi Rose will be defending her Princess of the Beach title on Memorial Day, and barring Hannah Palmer taking a dive for Amanda Trivizas sometime in the next few weeks, Camila is the only eligible challenger.
b) As the only undefeated fighter in the O&E/IBB melee, Mia Khalifa has to be considering her for a JMD title fight.
c) She's 1-1 vs Avril Lavigne, putting her in a position where the new Hall-of_Famer flyweight champion may well be forced to take a number to get a crack at a rubber match.
5) Amanda Trivizas TP insists there is no such thing as a moral victory. This sure looked like one. A fighter in her third fight knocks the bantam champion on her heels and keeps her there for the entire first half? It's only April, and Amanda has already proven herself to be the sexy-fighting gatekeeper for Demi that Samara Weaving was supposed to be.
6) Demi Rose It HAS to be a concern for O&E management that Demi has failed to win a fight on canvas in over a year. But for these coming months, it can move to the back burner. No unbiased source can claim she is anything but the best sand fighter the FCBA has ever produced. She has beaten infighters, outfighters, sluggers, and counterpunchers. She has taken out fighters who should be considered lightweights. She has won dirty, she has won clean, but she has won nineteen times against her peers, and Jenny Mccarthy.
