TESS VALMORE
.Once again, I present this month’s edition of my much maligned predictions.
As usual it is littered with unflattering comments, unjustified criticism and cheap shots. Last month I went 33-13 running me total to 3577-1016 or 78% correct.
TIGER FREE/M.CYRUS. Tiger Free enters this fight with a 17-7 career record. She has won both of her fights this year and six of her last ten. Her big win during that period was over Cicchino. Cyrus has a 29-30 FCBA career record. She is 5-5 in her last ten. She has held the Unified Flyweight Title in 2014. Age and height are not factors. I think Tiger Free will win.
ZEIGLER/CICCHINO Zeigler made her debut last year finishing 2022 with a 10-3 record and has won both of her fights this year. Cicchino made her debut I 2021 and already has a 35-12 record. She has won eight of her last ten. Both are twenty years old, but Zeigler has an almost three inch height advantage. Cicchino has beaten fighters Zeigler’s size before. I think she will beat Zeigler
E.ROBERTS/ALCOCK Roberts enter this bout with a 39-23 career record and has won eight of her last ten. I have no idea who Alcock is. My rule is go with the known. Roberts wins.
PORTMAN/MORETZ. Portman is an eleven time Unified Flyweight champion and is a member of the Hall of Fame. Now 41, she has won seven of her last ten. Moretz has a 26-20 record and has won seven of her last ten. Moretz is slightly bigger, but is sixteen years younger. Portman has recently handled that age difference beating Cicchino. Portman should be favored, but I am going to take a chance on Moretz.
CAMERON/ORTEGA. Cameron has a career record of 23-20 . She held the Unified Flyweight title last year with four successful defenses. After losing the title, she went into a funk and has lost three of four. Ortega made her debut last year and has won five of six. She has impressive wins over Cole, Zeigler and Lavigne. Her only loss was to Millie Bobby Brown in a title fight in January.
For some reason I never thought much of Cameron even after she won the title. I’m going with Ortega.
De ARMAS/PELA. De Armas has a career record of 14-6. She is an unpredictable fighter. After winning her first ten, she has lost six of her last ten. In her last two fights she beat Lily Collins and then lost to Dove Cameron. Pelas has a 11-14 record and has won five of her last ten. De Armas has a three inch height advantage. That will prove to be the difference. De Armas in five
S.GOMEZ/P.R.LIST. Gomez has never held a title but she has a record of 47-26 and has won seven of her last ten. Boxing World has her ranked as the number seven contender for the bantam title. List has a career record of 15-9. Since joining Front Street in May 2021, she has won 12 of 13, but she hasn’t faced a fighter like Gomez. It won’t go well for List. Gomez in four
LAMBORGHINI/COWAN JMD
VISMARA/MONREAK. JMD
MUDD/BENSON. JMD
SCODELARIO/BUSH Scodelario is a former bantam champ and has a 48-21 record. She has won five of her last ten but lost her last three, one to Lil Reinhart in a title fight. Bush will be forty in a couple months. She has a 36-36 record and she is 5-5 in her last ten. Scodelario has fallen to 27 in the Boxing Worlds bantam rankings while Bush holds down the 44 spot. I have to go with Scodelario
N.A.LIND/S.MITCHELL Lind has a 24-17 record and is 5-5 in her last ten. She has fought a tough schedule. Mitchell has a 38-34 career record and has held the Unified Bantam title in 2017. Lind is twelve years younger than Mitchell but Mitchell has a two inch height advantage. This looks like a 50/50 fight. I will go with Mitchell choosing height over youth.
BENNET/MCADAMS. Bennet is a former Unified Bantam champ. She has a 55-7 record fighting for Front Street. She has won her last eleven. Her last loss was to Naomi Scott in a title fight. McAdams, now 44, is a former four time Unified Bantam champion. She has won five of her last ten. Bennet it almost twelve years younger and two inches taller. I have to go with Bennet to win.
STEINFELD/SWEENEY. Steinfeld made her debut in 2016 and has a career record of 8-13. She has won six of her last ten but hasn’t fought since last August. Sweeney has a career record of 15-7 record and has also won six of her last ten. She has recently beaten Olsen, Dobrev and Minka Kelly. Steinfeld has an three inch height advantage, but it isn’t going to help her. Sweeney in six
TAYLOR-JOY/ROSE Taylor Joy has a career record of 19-6 and has won five of her last ten. Her losses were to top bantams. Rose is a former Unified Bantam champ who has a career record of 34-12 and has won eight of her last ten. If power comes from the rear end, the advantage goes to Rose who has one that could say is rather large. Taylor-Joy however, is five inches taller. I have to go with height. Taylor-Joy wins
B.THORNE/WEAVING. Bella Thorne is 25 and is well on her way to the Hall of Fame. With 74 bouts under her belt she has won 55 (just five short of the required number of wins to get into the Hall of the 100th fight) She is a former Unified Bantam champ and has won nine of her last ten and is ranked as the number three bantam contender. Weaving has a 15-11 FCBA record winning six of her last ten. One of her fights was a title fight in January, I think Weaving is a little over head fighting Thorne since Thorne is four inches taller. Thorne in four
OLSEN/CHARLOTA This is a could have been a Hall of Fame fight for Olsen. This will be her 100th fight and she has the required win ratio. A win could have put her in the Hall of Farm, however management in their wisdom put her in three JMD fights. After this fight need three more fights. She us former Unified Bantam champ. Charlota has a 9-5 career record. She fought Olsen losing to her in a KO6. History will repeat. Olsen will win by a KO.
KENDALL JENNER/FRADEGRADA. Jenner had an off year (for her) last year going 11-7. She’s off to good start this year winning her first two over Cohen and Taylor Swift. Fradegrada has a 19-11 record. She has lost seven of her last ten FCBA bouts, but she has won eight of her last ten BBU bouts. At the end of last year she lost two of three to Taylor Swift. In the past, she has beaten Strahovski. Jenner is almost two inches taller and slightly younger. Jenner will win,
KRUPA/BURNS (Cougar Bout) Krupa has a 21-18 record. She has won seven of her last ten, with all three losses coming in the Jaguar tournament. This is an example that the term “Jaguar” isn’t going over. Lightweights over forty are still using the term Cougar. Back to business. Burns has a 1-7 record. She has lost her last four not lasting four rounds in any of the fights. Her last win was in November 2015. After this fight, her last win will still be in November 2015
ALDRIDGE/DADDARIO. Aldridge comes into this fight with a 24-14 FCBA record and has won six of her last ten fighting a mix of good and average fighters. Daddario has a 21-21 record. Like a lot of other fighters on tonight’s card she has won five of her last ten. This is another 50/50 bout. I will go with Daddario
Don’t ask me why
YUSTMAN/RITTER. I have always liked Yustman. She has a 48-34 record and is a former Unified Lightweight champ. Unfortunately she has lost seven of her last ten, a couple to fighters she should have beaten. Ritter is a fighter on her way to nowhere. She made her debut in 2013 has managed to get a 2-9 career record.
She got management in late 2022 and won her first fight over Jenny McCarthy, a bantam. She lost her first two fights of this year to some good fighters. I have to go with Yustman for old times sake.
N.HENSTRIDGE/THERON. Barred from predicting Theron fights
DECKER/HERRINGTON. This will be Decker’s 98th fight, but she is a ways from the Hall of Fame due to a number of JMD/D fights. Boxing World has her ranked as the number six welterweight contender. She has won six of her last ten with four of those fights being against Hannah Ferguson who she beat in the best of seven. Herrington made her debut in 2020 winning all four of her fights. She had ten fights in 2021 losing six. Apparently management was not happy ad she didn’t have another fight until November last year followed by one in December. She won one of the two. She’s bigger and younger than Decker. It won’t help. Decker will win
SABATINI/CORRIN Sabatini made her debut in 2021. She has a record of 14-9. After going 7-7 last year. She has faced some pretty good competition. Her big win was over Palicki. Corrin also made her debut in 2021 and went 5-4 last year but she for some reason hasn’t fought since last July when she lost her fourth straight. This is a fight she needs to win. The two fought in 2021 with Corrin winning by a KO7. I think Corrin will repeat. She has more at stake
MERRITT/KUBICKA. Merritt is another who broke in in 2021. She has a 10-5 record with two of those losses being to Taylor Swift in a body saddle series. She did manage to beat Swift in one and has also beaten DiDonato. Kubicka has a 24-9 record. She has won seven of her last ten with her losses being to DiDonato, Kendall Jenner and a disastrous loss to Ratajkowski, a bantam. Age and height are not factor’s. I put Kubicka on my top ten lightweight watch list. I have have to back that up whether I like it or not. Kubicka will win
FISHER/DAY. The twenty two year old Fisher has a 5-4 record. She is listed as a bantam. She has won two of four bantam fights, but she has won three of five fights against lightweights including a win over Corrigan. Day is a lightweight with a 15-9 record. She has wins over Fradegrada, Yustman, Kerr and Gonzalez. I am going to go with Day. She is a little bigger and has fought the better competition,
BOCCIA/G.ATKINSON. Boccia is one of IBB’s better members. She 21-8 record fighting top competition and has won six of her last ten. Atkinson is 38 years old and has a record of 19-40 and has lost her last fourteen. She will lost fifteenth straight.
COHEN/CERNY. Cohen enters with a 19-10 record. She has won five of her last ten Two of those wins were against a bantam. Cerny has a 8-10 record and she has lost eight of her last nine. Cohen will win.
H.FERGUSON/A.WILLETON (Body saddle bout) Two of Boxing World’s top ten welters. Boxing World has Willerton at five and Ferguson at seven. This is Ferguson’s 102 bout but she not into the Hall of Fame due to JMDD fights. She will make the eventually Depending on JMDD fights, it will probably take a year,
She has won eight of her last ten. Willerton has a 12-5 record. She has won six of her last ten. One of those losses was to Ferguson. Hannah will repeat.
RHODA/I.BALDWIN Rhoda is ranked at the number nine welter contender. Baldwin is ranked at eighteen. Rhoda has won seven of her last ten, but she has avoided top ten fighters, fighting only Willerton. Baldwin has only had eleven fights winning five. Two of those losses this year were to Willerton and Lawley
Rhoda will win
SWIFT/CORRIGAN (Mistress of the Body Saddle #1) Swift has been defending the Mistress title since August of 2021. She has successfully defended it four times all in three fight sets. Despite that success, she is 12-10 since the beginning of last year, but she fights a top schedule. Corrigan has won six of her last ten with one of those wins being over Ren. That big win was somewhat offset by a loss to Fisher. Corrigan can win this fight, but I think Swift will win bout one.
LOWNDES/KHALIFA JMD Title
CLAUSON/E.TURNER. JMDD Title
GARNER/KATIC JAGUAR Title. Not reignite my dispute with CWF over the word “Jaguar” but this title doesn’t seem to draw a lot of interest. Since Garner won the title in November, there has not been a single challenge. Not to belittle the Jaguar title, but I think there is Princess title. Quite frankly, I have lost count of these minor titles, but if there is one, there has never been a challenge to the “Princess. Garner is in the Hall of Fame. She is now fifty, but has won nine of her last ten, six of those wins being the the “Jaguar” tournament. The GOAT, Charlize Theron, has said that Garner is the best fighter she has ever fought. High praise from one who has fought all the old greats and many of the present top fighters. Katic will soon be forty five, but she has been rather successful with a record of 21-6. She has won seven of her last ten. Katic has a slight height advantage. This should be a good bout. I will go with Garner. Another for old times sake
M.B.BROWN/LAVIGNE. For the UNIFIED FLYWEIGHT Title. This will be Brown’s third title defense. She is undefeated in sixteen fights. Lavigne is unpredictable, She can beat a fighter like Emma Watson lose to a newcomer like Ortega. She has won eight of her last ten One thing Brown cannot equal is Lavigne’s mouth.
She can outtalk anyone in s—t talk. Brown has to lose sometime. I think this will be the time. Lavigne will be the new champ
KELLY/KOSARIN. For the UNIFIED BANTAMWEIGHT Title. This will be Kelly’s third title defense of her second bantamweight title. She will soon be forty two. She has a career record of 74-31-1 and has won seven of her last ten. Kosarin has a career record of 45-17 and has won eight of her last ten over top competition. She is a former bantam champ. She is seventeen years younger than Kelly and three inches taller. I have to wonder about her weight. Her height of 5’8’ is awfully tall for a bantam. In her picture, she is not skin and bones, but she has gotten by being bantam for eight years. I think that Kosarin’s youth and height will determine this bout. Kosarin will be the new champ
DIDONATO/PALICKI. For the UNIFIED LIGHTWEIGHT Title. This will be DiDonato’s first defense of her second Unified Lightweight title. She has won
Nine of the last ten beating both Jenners, Swift, Winstead and Lima along the way. Palicki will soon be forty and is a three time Unified Lightweight champion and a Unified Welter champ. She is one of those unpredictable fighters. She has lost six of her last ten, most of which she should have won. I like Palicki and would really like to see her win, but I think that DiDonato will successfully defend her title.
.Once again, I present this month’s edition of my much maligned predictions.
