Intro:
A bit of a personal rivalry could be settled tonight, Asuka and the debuting Iyo Sky (FKA Lo Shirai) with both women being former teammates back in Japan. Now as colleagues in the WWE they have to be polite in their day job, now they can let loose on each other.
In Japan they were part of a stable named "Triple Tails" that included Iyo's sister Mio. Asuka and Iyo were best friends till Iyo got an offer to wrestle for Stardom, leaving behind Asuka and Mio in TJPW. While Mio was happy for her sister from reports, Asuka wouldn't talk to Iyo anymore till they worked together again. Though they are civil, not rushing to be best friends anymore.

Heading into the bout both were given a chance to speak on camera for the fans that were played on the FCBA Network in the build up. Asuka filmed hers in a gym wearing black gym gear along with black boxing gloves.
After kicking and punching a heavy bag like it owes her money. Asuka turned to the camera and in her way of talking said "Iyo! I have wanted to beat you down for breaking us up over a decade ago. You were a selfish bytch for leaving me and your own sister. Now I break your face!" Turning and giving the bag a hard straight to show Iyo what is coming her way.
While Iyo was filmed sitting in a dark room wearing a white vest, black jean shorts, black tights and boots. She speaks in Japanese as sub titles read "Asuka, you have always talked about me as if it was my fault. You were simply jealous I found success while you weren't good enough, I see the looks you give me backstage now. I should have had it out with you years ago but instead now the world will see what we both know. You are a hot head and I am the skilled fighter, I am the one who is going to have my hand raised as you simply lay down beaten. Anyway unlike you I have friends."
The lights come on and it reveals her friends in her newest group in the WWE Dakota Kai and Bayley are behind her. Showing that they will most likely be with her come fight night.
Fight night, out first comes Asuka as white petals fall onto the stage. She heads down the aisle wearing a black sports bra with silver trim, matching trunks and shoes, silver gloves with a flower pattern on them. She steps into the ring with eyes locked onto the aisle.
Where Iyo comes out with Dakota and Bayley behind her. She has her arms out to her sides as she stares at the ring with an intense stare of her own. She walks down the ring with the rest of Damage Control following her. She steps into the ring wearing a red sports bra with gold trim, matching trunks and shoes, gold gloves with red trim on. Her hair tied into a ponytail as she her coach on the apron tells her to relax and not yet her emotions dictate her actions tonight.
The referee waves the fighters together to the center of the ring. The fighters trade a few insults in their native tongues as Asuka looks really fired up. The referee staying between them as neither touches gloves when prompted, instead wanting to fight now. They calm down enough to return to their corners. The bell ringing to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.
Round 1:
Both step out to exchange; Iyo looks to have the quicker hands as she lands a few crisp two punch combos to the face of Asuka, who fires back with single hand thudding punches. Asuka leans out the way of a left cross to land a straight into the face of her rival. Knocking her head back before she steps in with a left hook to turn her head.
Asuka stepping in after Iyo. Driving her to the ropes as she shows again why she is seen as a great striker in wrestling. Mixing up her targets to keep Iyo on her toes. With Iyo needing to nudge Asuka off her to get away from the ropes. The older fighter stalking after her with a malicious look on her face.
Final minute sees Iyo on her bike exchanging jabs with Asuka. Who soon deflects a straight to step in with one of her own, a short left hook following. Asuka looking to work away to the body of her opponent to try to wear her down. Heads touching as they bang away to each others firm bodies. The bell rings with a little push from Asuka before she walks back to her stable, wanting to show she owns this ring against her bitter enemy.
Round 2:
Asuka looking to smother Iyo's work early in the round, pressing into her to work back the smaller fighter. Iyo needing to push her opponent away to open up space, drilling in a few stiff punches to the chest of Asuka as she plants her feet. That leaves her open though to a straight into her lips, followed by a left hook onto her chin to back off Sky.
The veteran here is showing her strength to back Iyo into a corner. Asuka pounding in body shots till she is held onto. Iyo's friends not looking best pleased at ringside, yelling at Asuka as they try to distract her. The referee warning them to be quiet or be thrown out before they break the fighters apart. Once apart Asuka is keeping the heat on her former friend with straight punches to her face.
Iyo needing to back track as Asuka simply is walking her down so far. Iyo landing mostly single punches now as she is keeping her guard high as Asuka is yelling at her in Japanese to fight her as she isn't happy by Iyo being so defensive. The round comes to an end with Iyo sulking back to her corner. Her coach telling her to do as they trained and not plant her feet as much. While Asuka has an almost deathly stare aimed at Iyo.
Round 3:
Iyo takes a breath before she steps up her movement. Channeling maybe her "sky genius" nickname as she is looking to use her jab and create different angles to strike. For the first real time in the bout Asuka isn't simply walking down her down. Needing to use her own jab to try to set up her punches.
Seeing she is getting success now. Iyo is getting back to her combo punching. Asuka swinging in hooks that are more glancing then landing flush now. A double jab/straight combination lands flush into the veterans face to push her back two steps as Iyo piles the pressure onto her. As Iyo gets inside to work, as soon as she gets hit with hooks she backs off to space and is back on the move.
Showing frustration as she taps her gloves, Asuka can't land a hard punch as she has marks over her face. At the end of the round Bayley and Dakota laugh at Asuka to make her mood darken even more. Iyo meanwhile looks to be focused as she sits on her stool.
Round 4:
They resume with Asuka trying to get back in the face of Iyo. Problem for her is that Iyo is landing the crisper punches, moving her upper body to dodge and strike. A counter straight on the chin of Asuka snaps her head back, a left hook follows to smacks Asuka on her chin to turn her head.
Suddenly Asuka looks a little shaky. Iyo pounding in her punches to the face of Asuka to knock her head back. Moving around near the ropes as Asuka is now the one trying to hold off her rival. FEINTING WITH HER LEFT, IYO DIPS UNDER A LEFT HOOK AND COMES UP WITH AN UPPERCUT THAT LANDS FLUSH! ASUKA'S KNEES GO AS SHE COLLAPSES TO ALL FOURS AT IYO'S FEET!
Iyo puts her arms out to the side yelling "that all you got?!" As Bayley and Dakota jump for joy outside the ring. Heading to the neutral corner for the count to begin. 1...2...3...4... Asuka shakes her head to clear her head. 5...6... She is trying to push to her feet. 7... Stumbling to her knees into her own corner. 8...9...10 where Asuka is staring out the ring with her chin on the middle rope. Counted out by the referee!
Winner Iyo Sky KO Round 4
After:
Iyo getting the win in a feud over a decade in the making. She of course doesn't let it stand without letting Asuka know about it. Yelling at her in Japanese "you were always in my shadow and always will be!" Putting her right boot on the back of Asuka's head to choke her on the middle rope.
Her friends step in the ring to mock Asuka. Whose coach steps in to nudge Iyo's foot off their fighter. Iyo strutting back to her corner as Bayley and Dakota put an arm around her shoulder. Telling her how wonderful she looked. Iyo maybe wouldn't have been able to agree had her performance not improved after those opening two rounds.
Asuka on the other hand is helped onto her stool. She rubs her throat after getting her right glove taken off. Eyes full of fury as she clearly wishes she had the strength to go have another crack at her bitter enemy. Instead she has to be upset about another loss.
Out the ring goes Asuka as Iyo mockingly pretends she wants to shake hands from her corner. Bayley and Dakota calling Asuka a loser. Asuka ignoring them but has a face of thunder as she is helped by her coach to the back. It will be interesting to see how many more times Asuka will step into the ring as she isn't getting any younger.
Getting her right arm raised in the air. Iyo points at herself before fake crying to mock the fans booing her, others cheer her. She leaves the ring with her friends and walks to the back. They are in a jubilant mood as Iyo gets her debut win and we might see more of the "Sky Genius" on these annual events. Especially with their rival Becky Lynch and her frenemy Kairi Hojo fighting later.
