TESS VALMOREE
Here are my predictions as usual laced cheap shot comments and uncalled for criticisms. If I irritate, infuriate or otherwise cause distress to a fighter or manager, I assure you that it was not exactly accidental. I have enough haters in the FCBA that a couple more isn’t going to matter
My predictions for the last PPV were lost and I don’t remember what I predicted for some of them. Of the ones I remember, I went 12-3 in the PPV and 6-0 in the Asylum running my total to
618-169
FREGE/HOLLAND This is a tough one. Holland has lost to every good fighter she has faced, but beat the also rans. That worry’s me. On the other hand, Frege fits in the also ran category. I have rules, one of which, is to always bet on Righetti. Another is to never bet on Frege. She has a winning percentage of 20%. She must need the money. Holland by a KO
WATSON/KANE We have bouts between contenders. This isn’t one of them. Watson has lost four of her last six, but won her bout on the July card. Kane has lost her last six in a row. You could guess what kind of career Kane was going to have when she lost to Trachtenberg. One of only two fighters to have that distinction. Watson is bigger and has more KOs to her record. Kane suffers her seventh straight defeat
E. ROBERTS/HANRATTY Roberts is listed as being a member of a stable named Kitten Supremacy, which is inactive. Now there is a stable name that should strike fear into the hearts of managers. Roberts has had only one fight and lost it. Compared to her, Hanratty is a veteran with five fights of which she won the last two. Not a lot to go on here, however, I think Hanratty is going to win by a TKO
HYLAND/PAGE If the fight goes in order of the schedule I was supplied, this will be the fourth fight of the night and the fourth fight I could easily miss. Hyland won the first fight of her career in June after losing eight straight. Page has also won only one fight that being in November 2010. Since the she has lost six straight. She fought for the first time in three years in May. Could it be possible that both could lose this bout? Probably not. Hyland by a KO
NIGRI/LOVATO Nigri won her maiden bout on the July card beating Rigby. Lovato is far more experienced, however she has lost two of three fights this year. She was signed by Lookout after winning her bout on the July card. She will be looking to impress her new management. I think that is bad news for Nigri. Lovato by a KO
BAYLEY/TERRELL I saw where someone signed Bayley, which caused me, as usual, to yawn. I don’t know who Terrell is, since all her fights have been at JMD. Oh, I remember, they are both “wrestlers” That’s exciting.(hope you recognize sarcasm) Terrell will win. If this is at JMD, the prediction is void
AZALEA/SWANEPOEL As far as I know this is Azalea’s first bout. Swanepoel is a six year veteran with a mediocre record. She has been a disappointment, which caused Miss Ginny to dump her a couple years ago. She had what appeared to be a breakout year in 2011, but it was not to be. She has lost five of her last seven. Her experience will help her in this bout. Swanepoel by TKO
VIKANDER/JUSTICE Vikander is 2-2 after losing her bout on the July card. Justice has a winning record in both the FCBA and the BBU. I have to go with Justice based on her experience. Justice by a KO
R. SMITH/GREENE We got a lot of newbies on the card. This is Smith’s first bout. It won’t be Greene’s first bout. She’s a veteran of 27 fights with a winning record. Smith is over her head here. Greene by a KO
E. HEATHERTON/PALICKI Heatherton is another newbie. She debuted this year and lost her first two. I think Heatherton has a death wish. Palicki in a veteran and a very dangerous fighter. She was sadly neglected and disappeared from the ring for 18 months. She came back in June losing to Torv. I have no doubt she will get back on track with this bout. Palicki by a KO
HUDGENS/EVIGAN This should be the best fight of the card so far. Evigan is on a roll. She has won six in a row including a win over Panettiere. Hudgens, a three time champ, is 5-2 for the year after beating Cole on the July PPV. This is a bout that Hudgens should win, but I am going to take the chance that Evigan can pull another upset. Evigan by a TKO
VANCAMP/ROBBIE Robbie has turned into a capable fighter. She has won her last three. VanCamp is a two time champ who has won her last four, The two have fought once before with VanCamp winning by a KO. This should be another good fight. I think VanCamp will come out on top again by a KO.
STRAHOVSKI/J. RYAN Strahovski suffered a possible upset of the year at the hands of Theron in the last PPV. Now she goes against the 48 year old Ryan who has lost her last four. I suspect the reason Ryan is still around is that Miss Ginny has a soft spot for women her age. Yvonne, a consistent top five lightweight, shouldn’t have too much trouble with Ryan. Another upset would ruin any chance of a title bout and maybe a ticket out of the top ten It won’t happen. Yvonne by
a TKO
OLSEN/R. JONES I don’t know much about Jones as she is coming over from the BBU where she has an excellent record. That really don’t mean much. You know, I don’t mind all these English girls coming over here as long as they don’t bring their cuisine with them. That could be the end of civilization as we know it. Olsen has had three fights this year but two were at JMD That doesn’t mean much either. She lost her only conventional bout. I am going to wave the flag. Olsen by a KO
CUOCO/PEREGRYM Now we’re talking. One fighter in the Hall of Fame. The other a Hall of Fame candidate. One a four time lightweight champion. The other a four time champion in two divisions. Peregrym is 4-1-1 this year. Cuoco won her only bout this year and has won four of her last five. The two have fought twice before with each having a win and in an unusual occurrence both fights went to a decision. I hate to see either of these two lose, however, I will go with Missy to win, but won’t be at all surprised if Kaley ends up the winner
AMBROSIO/LAHKSMI Ambrosio has had four fights, three in the BBU and two in the FCBA. She won all her BBU but split her two in the FCBA after losing to Kurkova in the last PPV. She is pretty much a of newbie. Lahksmi has been around the FCBA for nine years but only had seven fights. She lost them all, however faced some pretty stiff competition. Lahksmi is 46. A little old. Ambrosio by a KO
UPTON/B HADID I can’t say I know much about Hadid other than she has a very rich father. She and her sister seems to be following the Kardashian method for fame. Let the press know where you are going to be. They are getting to be regulars in the London daily mail. Among the Kardashians, talent is non-existent. The Hadid sisters may share the same attribute. Looks like this is her first fight. It won’t go well. Upton by a KO
DUSHKU/DOBREV This will be Dushku’s first fight of the year. It will be Dobrev’s fifth. At present she is 2-2 having lost her last two. Dushku is one of those fighters in my rule book. I never bet against her. The Hall Of Fame member is getting a little old, but she should have enough in the tank to beat Dobrev. Dushku by a TKO
SCODELARIO/FONSECA Scodelario won her first FCBA fight beating Holland in the last PPV. She is 1-2 at present. Fonseca has not been very active. This is her first fight of the year. She had two last year losing both. I don’t have strong feelings about this one. I will take a chance on Scodelario by a KO
KLOSS/LANCASTER We are in the midst of another attempt to rejuvenate the welters. Kloss is 2-0 after winning the New Blood Welter Title. Lancaster won last year’s Welter Revival Tournament and then went on the take the title from Regan. She lost her last two fights of the year year including the title and interest in her went down the tubes. Hadid is younger and bigger. Lancaster has the experience. Let’s see if Lancaster still has it. Lancaster will win
G. HADID/KAJLICH What I said about her sister goes here. She has had two fights, losing in the New Blood Tournament to Kloss in the last PPV. She is any good? Who knows, but she is being pushed too fast. Kajlich is a dangerous fighter with some big wins. Kajlich by a KO
IMAN/PREJEAN Iman is another model type who was in the New Blood Welter Tournament. She lost in the first round. Where G. Hadid drew a dangerous fighter, Iman gets Prejean. Boxing World rated 92 welters. Prejean was 92. Let’s put it this way. If Iman loses this fight, she has no career in the FCBA
PERRY/WINSTEAD Winstead took the title from Perry last May. Since then she has gone 3-3, but her losses were to top ten opponents. After losing the title, Perry has won four straight against second tier fighters. I suspect Perry sharpened her skills during those fights. I think this is a 50/50 bout. I will go with Perry. I don’t need another enemy at Front Street
PANETTIERE/SHAHI Shahi beat Panettiere in June. The two have fought three times with Shahi winning two. Shahi has won three of her last five fights. Panettiere is in a funk, She has lost four of her last five. Hayden’s troubles continue as Shahi now takes the best of five by a KO
PIPES/CASSIDY PLP seems to be pushing Pipes this year. This will be her fourth fight after having only two in the previous years. She has lost four of her five bouts, however, PLP has a lot of patience. They are probably going to need it. This is Cassidy’s third fight of the year, which is one more than she usually has. She has won her last three. Make that four. Cassidy by a KO
MITCHELL/CHOPRA Chopra is your basic newbie. Normally I would say a 34 year old newbie is going nowhere. She, however, was signed by Me Hawkeye who arguably has the best eye for talent in the association. She has had three fights and lost two. Mitchell is a veteran with a mediocre record. In checking her record, I noted that she has lost every other fight recently. She won her last fight which means she should lose this one. I just can’t bring myself to believe she will lose to Chopra. Mitchell by a TKO
DANES/HOLT For the bantam title. There has been some criticism of this matchup after Holt suffered two straight upsets at the hands of Mitchell and Bellisario. In the recent past however, she had beaten McAdams, Spears and Dushku. I have no problem with giving her a title shot which she well may take advantage of and walk away with her second unified title. While that is a distinct possibility, I doubt it is going to happen. Danes will retain the title
GADOT/LIVELY I know it is the champions right to choose opponents, but this is really far fetched. How many fighters did Miss Ginny have to pass over to get to Gadot? How about 161. Gadot is ranked 162 by Boxing World. I didn’t even know she was around. She has had a grand total of two fights in the FCBA and lost both. This is the most ludicrous award of a title match that I can remember. That said, she could win, after all Theron beat Strahovski in the last PPV. That would be one of the biggest disasters to the lightweight division in many years, making it the laughing stock of the FCBA. I hope that doesn’t happen. Lively with my fingers crossed
