TESS VALMORE
The forty fight December PPV is now in the record books. All four FCBA titles were up for grabs. One changed hands. Millie Bobby Brown took the Unified Flyweight title from Brec Bassinger with a ninth round KO. In the other divisions. Minka Kelly retained the Unified Bantamweight title with a win over Brie Larson, and Lily James is still the Unified Lightweight title holder as she beat a tough Kara Del Toro with a tenth round KO. To one one’s surprise Robyn Lawley turned back Karen Gillan and is still the welter champ.
The welterweight division is and has been for a long time, a privates club, at least in the top eight. There are those fighters and the rest are cannon fodder. Occasionally, a fighter makes it into the top ten, but the stay is brief. Right now, Boxing World has Boccia and Lively in the top ten welters. Not for long. So the top eight fight each other or someone down in the rabble. Who will be. “Godzilla’s” next choice? I don’t know, but it won’t be me.
Lily James sits at the Lightweight throne, but the crown doesn’t rest easily, The Lightweights, once the “Tiffany” division and probably still is, is highly competitive. The champ has to really step down in the numbers to find an easy opponent. Any of the top twenty should be competitive. I think Taylor Swift and Emily DiDonato would be good chances, but poor Emily lost two title shots last year
Minka Kelly retained the bantamweight title beating a highly capable Brie Larson. There is going to be a little shake up in the bantams. Five of the top ten have recently lost, but like the lightweights, the division is deep. Kosarin looks like the top choice although she has lost two title fights in the last fourteen months. Chopra could be a choice but she lost a title fight to Reinhart in July. I am not one of those who believe in spreading the titles fights around. She lost the JMD title in the PPV and held the bantam title two years ago but I would like to see Minka tangle with Bella Thorne. I think the two fought four years ago with Bella winning
Millie Bobby Brown now sits on the flyweight throne, as Mr Vassago pointed out, the youngest FCBA champion ever. This is the deepest division in the FCBA. Like the lightweights, any of the top twenty. While I am not am admirer but Lavigne seems to me to the top choice, a long with Michelle Williams who is 24 years older and Jessica Lowndes who is only sixteen years older
We seem to have an unusual amount of long winning streaks. A couple could be said to be due to competition but they are winning streaks no less
Robyn Lawley -20
Bille Eilish 20
Sophie Mudd 20
Lily James 17
Millie Bobby Brown 14
