6. Nell Tiger Free vs Lily Collins (Tournament Final)

And now for the final match of this event, with the tournament semi-final winners coming together to put on one last show for the evening. Nell Tiger Free strides back into the arena first, the crowd greeting her with an enthusiastic smattering of applause. Of course, it ain’t as loud or boisterous as they would one of their own girls, but it’s enough of a turn to make the Vixen smile.
Respect must have been earned from her dominant showing against Mimi Perkins, and the Aussie crowd is nothing but fair and square in terms of how they treat fighters who excite them with action. Up next, Lily Collins strides out onto stage, equally grinning from ear to ear, and looking none the worse for wear even after taking that bruising earlier at the hands of both Renee and her sister, Elisha.
The two fighters have little else to say to each other, already having made their feelings known in their first fights earlier tonight. Lily and Nell are now decked in fresh sets of clothing, having showered and iced down in the interim fights. Nell’s now in a white sports bra and red boxing trunks, yellow gloves. Lily’s in a dark navy sports bra and short gray tights.
Healthy bump of gloves as the two Flyweights at least share a grudging respect for each other for making it thus far, and in some way, no love lost for another Flyweight fighter on the roster, Miss Emma Watson. Referee signals for the bell, and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Flyweight action!
ROUND 1:
Lily, not wasting time, immediately tries to overwhelm her rookie counterpart with jab combos to the head, thinking it’s better to push Nell down to the ground before the younger girl’s stamina gets the better of her. Nell’s trying to keep up in the early game, punching back but getting nailed by Collins’ more precise jabs to her face. And when she tries to dip low and pay Lily back with strikes off her body, the older actress merely tuts and rips a hook off her chin and cheek, sending her reeling to the side as payback. Girls get into a holding pattern closer to the end, with Nell finding a little more success in trading jabs to her opponent’s face, but is unable to make up for those earlier exchanges by the bell. Wide round to Collins.
ROUND 2:
Nell, being aggressive this time, knows the best way to meet fire is with fire of her own. She surprises Lily with an early flurry to the face, forcing her guard to be raised high, then bangs away at the older girl’s abs, drawing outraged grunts as Collins gets pushed back. Lily, probably thinking how dare she touch her body with those profane fists of hers, counters soon after with a block and then lunges for Tiger Free’s face, scoring a hook off her chin to stop her briefly. But Nell persists, starting a chain combo with a left-right flurry to the lips before lunging under the Vixen’s arms to snag more tummy. By the bell, Lily looks even more pissed off, warning the other girl to keep in her lane, or else!
ROUND 3:
But Nell has no intention of playing second fiddle to these aging Flyweights. She’s the youngest on the roster, and has something to prove against the likes of Collins, Watson, and Fox. She barrels inwards once again, torching Lily to the body and getting in close at several moments to bang away at her waistline. Lily tries her best to contain the youngster’s enthusiasm, hammering away at the sides of her head and even cuffing her again across the jawline to briefly stun Tiger Free. But Nell just growls through it and drills another uppercut into her belly button, rocking her in half. Before Lily knows it, she’s SPUN about on her heels as a follow-up hook connects to the jawline, and DOWN SHE GOES!! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Nell Tiger Free, and an early one at that! Lily left sputtering on all fours, shaking the pain from her mouth, as Tiger Free saunters back to her neutral corner to admire her handiwork. She doesn’t have long, however, with Lily already rising back to her feet and beating the count by 7. Still a long road ahead for these two!
ROUND 4:
And Lily means business this time! The veteran Vixen stays at a distance, finally treating her younger foe with the respect she probably deserves! Collins landing jabs off the arms, taking this fight seriously and running scared of her foe’s punching power. She doesn’t want to hit the canvas again, and it shows! Nell’s giving chase, of course, confident in her power to end the fight if she manages to land another slobberknocker to Lily’s face, constantly pressures the other girl backwards and lunges for her tummy and forehead. Lily stays focused, however, either ducking or weaving and then plunging her fists back into Nell’s face as payback for thinking she’ll go down so easily. Tiger Free looks more and more discouraged as the minutes tick by, and is beginning to think that earlier knockdown was more luck than skill. Bell rings and at least she got off some hits to the tummy this round, though Lily arguably takes it by a closer margin due to her counterattacks.
ROUND 5:
Nell can play at that game too, however, blocking an early flurry from Lily before drilling a clean shot into her mouth. Lily grunts, but doesn’t give ground either, immediately responding with a left hand to the temple and another driven low into Nell’s stomach. Ladies take turns turning heads and shoulders in the center of the ring, neither girl wanting to back down! Nell takes another nasty shot across her face but instinctively ducks under a follow-up, with Lily’s eyes left wide open as a hook is buried into her side stomach, another forearm is driven straight into her ribs below! OUCH! Nell’s playing with fire as she STORMS IN, exclusively banging away at Lily’s undercarriage and torso, driving the veteran into the ropes and threatening to break her in half! It’s only after Lily successfully clinches up with her younger counterpart does she manage to stop the abuse to her lower torso! Nell’s still growling away, however, fists ravaging the stomach and waistline, though Lily’s arms wrapped around hers is slowing the impact. BIG round for Nell Tiger Free, but she doesn’t manage to finish her opponent off.
ROUND 6:
Second half of this fight and though both ladies are not from around the corner, the Aussie home crowd is fully giving them their support, cheering on both their ambitions to reign supreme. Nell is of course the underdog in this contest, though her drive to overtake the others gives her a longer runway, and a deadly combination of hidden potential. On the other hand, Lily’s ambitions to get into the Hall-of-Fame might be premature, with pundits and other fighters alike already questioning her motives and capability. She takes another bruising round this time, playing defensive as Nell tries to finish her off for the umpteenth occasion, fending off jabs and flurries to her body and always trying to remain one step away from her younger foe. For what it’s worth, Nell’s also slowing down, evidenced by her failure to capitalize on multiple weak points when Lily took a hit to her face or body before floundering back, expecting Nell to do something like rush in. Alas, the round ends still firmly in Tiger Free’s corner, meaning the younger Vixen pulls ahead in points.

All that changes in the seventh when Lily checks a cross hand from Nell to the side, before burying a right hand of her own clean into the face. Nell lets out a grunt as her head is thrown back, another stiff hook landing to the side of her chin to send her reeling towards the ropes. Lily presses in slow and steady, never one for drama or fireworks but an expert at this point at dismantling her foes. Nell’s turn to cover up but she’s not moving out of range fast enough, and as a result keeps taking unwarranted shots to the sternum and off the top of her head, slowly pushing her about the ring and back. All Lily has to contend with in turn are the rookie’s counter-shots, but those jabs sting the arms harmlessly or miss entirely overhead, with Lily landing a final punt to the mouth to further throw off Nell’s aim at the bell. Wide round for Collins, who begins to show off what she can do!

Nell looks a little lost still as she walks in, wanting to brawl, but meets a more technical fighter in Collins. The poor rookie still has much to learn, including finding her own unique fighting style, and until she does, she’s getting picked clean by the veteran Collins, who lands shot after shot to her nose and lips, driving her head back with a heartening snap each time. Nell gets pushed into the ropes and forced to take several punches to her tummy this time, sending her groaning off to the side. Lily’s waiting for her with a big right hook, which is smashed off the top of her head, and which sends Tiger Free CLOTHESLINED to the ground, where she lies staring up at the stadium lights, completely KO’ed and spreadeagled! The referee rushes in to start the count, but it’s no use! Collins raises a hand in victory, having come out of the fire with two wins in a single night! It’s OVER!

AFTER:
“I almost feel as though Nell needs to take a break,” Lily beams in the post-fight, speaking to reporters with a shake of the head. “I mean, the poor girl lasted longer in our first fight. Now, she’s going down more easily.”
Nell would disagree, of course, having ended the year with a respectable 7 wins to 4 losses. Not the best record, definitely, but it could have been better.
“I wanted to treat myself to an early Christmas present,” Nell sulkily tells reporters by ringside once she’s cleaned up. “Too bad Collins wasn’t in a giving mood.”
The youngster smiles weakly, before heading backstage to lick her wounds. So far, it seems she still knows her place in the Flyweight pecking order, but has the rest of her years to work her way up the ladder.
