“This will be my 5th title defense and I thought it would be a perfect chance to break the 1-1 tie being Bassinger and myself. Losing that KO10 to her last time burned me and I want to prove once and for all that I’m the superior fighter,” declares Flyweight Champ Dove Cameron at the pre-fight press event. She finishes by flashing a triumphant smirk at Brec Bassinger standing nearby at a second podium.
Brec just smiles back with insincere sweetness and says: “I do appreciate the opportunity to erase the memory that you ever beat me—and to claim that title belt. I admit I lost my first title shot to Vanessa Hudgens and you did get the title by beating her. But that was then, this is now and I am ready to take that belt away from your scrawny waist.”
Dove’s eyes flashed: “You are going to regret insulting me.”
“I’m just saying it looks scrawny to me and I’m going to love pounding on it,” Brec replied snarkily.
“Then your eyesight is as bad as your boxing and Im going to love punching yor lights out!” fired back Dove.
The tempers of the young fighters were clearly rising. FCBS Security was now edging into wings of the stage, but so was PLP Communications Director Autumn Reeser.
“Save it for the fight, Brec,” Autumn can be heard whispering urgently to Brec.
“Yes, Brec, save it for the fight, but it still won’t do you any good. This time I am going to beat you down and make you beg me to stop,” Dove was saying.
Brec was flushing red, but she glanced back at Autumn’s pleading face and then turned back to Dove: “Sorry Cameron, I’m not going to let you distract me—see you at the fight and be prepared to suffer. I am going to pound the snot out of you.”
“Yes, see you there and be prepared to meet your fate,” Dove said dramatically.
“Same to you,” Brec snapped and stalked off to join Autumn Reeser. “I can’t stand her!”
“I know, I know, you did the right thing,” Autumn assures her harge as she leads the seething young blonde off the stage,
As might be expected, the verbal clash, did excite a lot of social media attention and so there was an extra air of intensity surrounding the ring on Fight Night. The challenger appeared first: Brec wore a black robe trimmed in white as she strode to the ring, She was accompanied by trainer Nia Peeples, Autumn Reeser, and stablemates Danielle Campbell and Ashley Benson. In the ring, Brec removed the robe to reveal a black bikini. She wore white gloves and boots with black laces. Her hair was pulled back into ponytail.
Next the Champion Dove Cameron made her entrance. Dove made a point of striding alone down the ramp with her trainer and corner crew at a respectful distance. She is wearing a black robe and removes in the ring to reveal a red bikini, with black gloves and boots )ed laces. Her hair is pulled back in a battle braid. An attendant is carrying the title belt.
“Take care of it,” Dove instructs, “I’ll be back for it.”
“Don’t count on it!” Brec interjects.
The assistant departs with the Belt and the referee proceeds with the ring instructions. These out of the way, there is sharp slamming together of gloves and then the two depart for their corners. The crowd starts to work itself up in anticipation and then THE BELL RINGS—IY’S ON!
R1: Brec and Dove move out smoothly to the middle of the ring. Brec going for Dove’s midsection with pounding hooks early. Dove responds with powerful body hooks of her own to punish Brec to the ribs and abs. Two start circling but they are still body bashing in close and only a few head shots mixed in for variety, Intense looks exchanged as the two are nearly touching foreheads as they continue to bring in the body busters. Hard fighting in the trenches to the bell, but late in the going, Brec seems to be pushing Dove back. Bell rings as Brec Bassinger pounds out a close win of the opening round.
R2: Dove now attacks to the head as the new round begins. Brec gets socked hard to the jaw with rapid rights and lefts. Brec stumbling back , trying to get her mitts up to protect her head, but Dove able to slip in nasty uppercuts to Brec’s chin. Brec’s legs trembling as she continues to fall back. Now Dove returns to the body to keep Brec under constant punching pressure. Brec finally able to circle away from Dove and buy herself a few seconds of rest. Dove soon back on her, but Brec now able to use her jab and work over Dove’s breasts. Dove not liking this jugg attack and whacks in her hooks harder to Brec’s belly to make Brec gasp. Brec looks headed for the ropes, but she manages to slow Dove down just enough to stay off the strands to the bell. The round goes wide to Dove Cameron.
R3: Brec trying to protect her head as the new round begins. Mitts are up high and tight, but Dove now bringing the hurt into Brec’s torso. Strong and steady hooks are crashing over and over into Brec’s chest, ribcage and abs. Brec trying to use her jab to keep Dove back, but the Champ just keeping the leather storm coming against Brec’s shuddering body. Now Dove drives Brec into the ropes where she huddles under still more body busters from the Champ. Bell finally rings and it is a gray-faced Brec Bassinger who leaves the ropes and walks gingerly back to her stool. Dove Cameron smiling after she’s won another round wide.
R4: Dove closes in rapidly on Brec as soon as the round begins. She now unveils her own jab to smack Brec hard to the face. Brec scoots to one side, her face down lumped up, but as Dove comes after her, she connects with a big right cross to Dove’s jaw. Dove goes stumbling back and Brec surges forward. Brec firing shots at Dove’s jaw and chin. Brec lashes back and now she lands a big right against Brec’s jaw. Now it is Brec who is staggered and Dove eagerly counterattacks. Brec hit again in the face and now she bleeding from a split lower lip. However Brec digs in and brings two uppercuts into Dove’s chin. Dove momentarily frozen and Brec hammers home hooks into Dove’s belly. Dove doubled forward and trying to scramble away. Brec is bouncing shots off Dove’s head. Dove firing back with the jab into Brec’s ribs to disrupt her attack. Brec falls back but quickly returns. Two trade belly punches to the bell. Result is close with the judges finding for Brec Bassinger.
R5: Dove comes shooting out of her corner this round and takes Brec by surprise. Brec thrown back by successive uppercuts and then gets a face full of Dove’s leather. Brec driven back into her own corner. “CLINCH! CLINCH!” Nia Peeples is screaming and Brec wraps Dove up in a bear hug and wrestles her away from the corner. Referee breaks this up and Dove astes no time resuming the attack. Brec able to protect her head much better now, but Dove just turns her attention to washboarding Brec’s torso from breast to belly and back again. She seen scoots from side to side pound Brec’s side ribs. Brec trying to get some distance to recover, but Dove is relentless in pressure punching. Best Brec can manage is to keep from being trapped on the ropes, but the bell finds her dripping sweat, blood and gasping for air. Dove looking pleased with herself as she scores a shutout on the judges’ cards.
R6: Brec worked on desperately by the PLP corner, but she comes out slowly and trying to protect her head. Dove pounding away to the body once again. Brec shuddering as she tries to stay upright under this storm of leather that is tormenting her body. Dove’s attack finally bears fruit as she spots Brec’s high guard weakening. Dove then drives a straight right between the white mitts and right it Brec’s nose. Brec lurching back, blood coming down her face to her chin and now Dove lands a rgiht uppercut to Brec’s unguarded chin. DOWN GOES BREC B! Brec toppling to her side. Dove walking away with a triumphant smile, raises one arm in the certainty of victory. BUT WAIT! As Dove watches from the neutral corner, Brec Bassinger has somehow pulled herself together and gets to her feet at “NINE” THIS IS NOT OVER! Referee helpful wipes Brec’s bloody nose and waves Dove back in. Dove seems astonished to see Brec back up, but then this becomes anger and she comes storming at the stubborn Bassinger. Brec goes full turtle, burying her face in her gloves and giving Dove nothing to finish her off. Brec makes to the bell and even manages a defiant grin at a clearly frustrated Dove, but she is on rubber legs getting back to her corner. Dove Cameron’s got the knockdown and an easily won round, but she can be overheard complaining; “Why won’t she just stay down?”
R7: “Brec, you got to get back into this fight. She’s worked you over good the last two rounds, take this fight to her!” Nia Peeples tells her battered fighter as th corner crew tries to repair the damage.
“I’m not done yet, but she will be!” Brec is heard to respond.
Bell rings and Brec has somehow found the energy reserves to come in hard against Dove. Brec attacking mainly to the body. Getting toe to toe and ramming short right and left hands into Dove’s body. Dove staggered at first, but comes back with her own body attack. The two are fighting it out up close and personal. Eyes are locked on each other and they just keep those punches coming. The sound of leather on wet flesh can be heard clearly by ringsiders. Then groans and gurgles can be heard with each blow. Dove starting to be pushed back step by step It’s a battle of wills and Brec Bassinger is slowly gaining the advantage. The round ends. The score on the judges; cards in close in favor of Brec Bassinger, but she’s smiling like this was a shutout. She has come back from disaster and she knows it. Dove Cameron looking grim, but she’s heard to say “I will not lose to that twerp!”
R8: Dove and Brec come out swinging this round. Big exchange of jaw shots early swivel both heads, then they follow up with more head shots. Then it’s another exchange of jaw shots and both fighters seem wobbly after these, but they both lurch forward and start hooking to the belly. They battle it out with more and more torso torturing punches. Then a triple hook to the belly suddenly jackknifes Dove forward and BAM BAM! In come right/left uppercuts to Dove’s chin. Dove shuddering and BAM! Brec catches Dove between the eyes with a big straight right hand. DOWN CRASHES DOVE CAMERON! Dove just nose dives into the canvas landing at Brec’s feet. Brec looks down as though not believing it, but a nudge from the referee sends her scurrying to the neutral corner.
The official stands over Dove and starts his count. Dove starts t rise and her fans cheer her on. She is manages to get to all fours and then tries to rise fully erect, but she topples backwards. She tries again as the count rises:
“SEVEN!...EIGHT!...NINE!.;..”
Brec almost makes it up, but then shudders and falls backwards.
“…TEN!....YOU’RE OUT!”
THE WINNER AND NEW FCBA FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION: BREC BASSINGER OF THE PRETTY LITTLE PUNCHERS BY KNOCKUT IN THE 8TH ROUND!

Dove sitting up burying her face in her gloves, trying to shut out the sight of the joyous celebration going on in the PLP corner. Brec being hugged by Nia Peeples, Autumn Reeser, Danielle Campbell and Ashley Benson.
“I told her I would win! I told her! She nearly had me in the 6th but I got up and took her out 2 rounds later. Oh, look at that belt, it;’ll be so good to wear it,” Brec says as officials approach and place the Flyweight Champion’s belt around her waist. Brec happily poses for the photos and walks the ring waving to the fans.
Meanwhile, a distraught Dove Cameron is hustled from the ring and it is sometime later before she speaks briefly with the press.
“I can’t believe she beat me! I had her. I know I had her, but she got up and it all wrong after that,” Dove says and turns away, tears in her eyes.
A big comeback win for Brec Bassinger and wins the Title belt for the first time. A crushing lost for Dove Cameron. She seemed to have control of the fight after 6, but “seemed” proved to be the operative word. Brec somehow found the strength to get back in the fight and beat 2 rounds later. Still, Dove is an outstanding young flyweight and she is sure to bounce back from this heartbreaker. And, of course, Brec Bassinger and her PLP managers will have to try to ensure that she a good long run at the top of the Flyweight Division, but that is always easier said than done. Still, Brec has achieved a career highlight and she has every enjoy this hard won victory.
