TESS VALMORE
Once again it’s time for our much maligned lightweight and welter rankings. Our rankings differ from those of my fiancé at Boxing World in several respects. We require activity. We will not allow a fighter to sit in a ranked position without fighting. A fighter, to be ranked, must fight as least every third PPV or ninety days whichever is longer. We put great emphasis on competition. A winning record is meaningless unless the competition is considered. To our way of thinking a 3-2 record against top ten opponents is better than a 10-0 record against second or third tier competition. We do not rank a fighter in more than one division. We rank them in the division in which they are most active. We do not take JMD/DD fights into consideration. Boxing World does take them into consideration. We also do not list a champion. Our rankings are one through ten with the champion frequently not being the number one, as often she is not the best fighter
LIGHTWEIGHTS
1. MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD. Defended her title successfully twice since last ranking. Last fought in December
2. KENDALL JENNER. Took care of Regan, a welter, in the December PPV
3. ALEXIS REN Lost a title fight in November. Doesn’t cost her
4, AMIELLA SAGRA. Moves to four on her win over Rohrbach
5, ADRIANNE PALICKI After a long absence she jumps back into the ranking with wins over Swift and Swan Fought in the December PPV
6. YVONNE STRAHOVSKI Jumps to seven with wins over Yustman, Heigl and Cuoco Fought in the December PPV
7, ADRIANA LIMA Not active since last ranking Must fight in January
8. TAYLOR SWIFT Drops on her loss to Palicki
9. ALLESANDRA AMBROSIO Beat Atwell, but drops one spot on Palicki’s entry into the top ten
10 ODETTE YUSTMAN Stays at ten with her win over Dawson
Who Dropped out
KELLY ROHRBACH Drops out on her loss to Sagra after losing in the title tournament
WELTERWEIGHTS
1. AMANDA RIGHETTI Took the title from Upton in the December PPV It was her eleventh straight win
2. KATE UPTON Simply swapped places with Righetti from the last rankings
3, TAHNEE ATKINSON Saved her spot by beating Kroes in November
4, BROOKLYN DECKER Followed up her win over Ferguson with another over Rhoda Moves to four over Ferguson on competition Last fought in October. Must fight in January
5, HANNAH FERGUSON Had wins over Brook and Nemcova. Last fought in November
6. HILARY RHODA Stays at six. Beat Gemma Atkinson in November
7. KARLEY KLOSS Defeated Nolin in November
8. CASSIDY FREEMAN Hasn’t fought since October. Must fight in January
9. JENNIFER LAWRENCE Lost a title fight in November. Moves into the rankings on Perry’s removal
10 TAYLOR HILL Signed by Front Street. Won her first Asylum bout in December. My guess is that she will not be here long as she starts to fight the Front Street schedule of opponents which will cost her her spot due to competition
WHO DROPPED OUT
KATY PERRY Combination of wins over poor competition and losses to ranked fighters
