BEFORE:
"One fight," says a hard-eyed Emma. "One fight three years ago, and I gave McMann all she wanted. And, since then? Nothing! Well, that changes tonight, because I'm going to knock THIS girl out and prove Emma Dumont belongs in the FCBA!"
"I hope," says Cristy, with equally hard eyes, "That Emma likes the taste of sand. Because I AM going to leave her face down in it."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: " Back at ringside and the four-sided giant screen lowered over the arena, which means Asylum Beach, with plenty of patio heaters and fire pits functioning, is about to get some use. And, that's 'Candy Store' you hear behind us, featuring the cast of the stage show 'Heathers', and here comes the the lovely Emma Dumont..."
McCarthy: "A Typical Dancing Hooker Opponent. NO FCBA wins. ONE FCBA FIGHT, and it was here against that FRAUD McMann!"
O'Dell: "Dumont across the sand and into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal an azure number that has the crowd's attention, and that's 'Back In The U.S.S.R.' you hear hammering through the arena, and that can only mean 'The Russian Revolution', Cristy Ren is coming on to Asylum Beach!"
Cassie: "Ren off to a great start at Front Street. Tons of physicals. Getting better every time out."
Tess: "And getting a lot of consistent work."
O'Dell: "Cristy through the ropes and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. Crowd, as always, showing plenty of appreciation for Ms. Ren in that pink and green number she likes. Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Cristy. Mac?"
McCarthy: "NO FCBA wins! Ren!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Unanimous again in the third, and Dumont quickly trying to show everyone they made a mistake. She's setting up at range and getting off in combination here. Older brunette has some reach and she's making use of it..."
Cassie: "Moving very well on the sand, too."
O'Dell: "Absolutely is. She's got Cristy all out of sorts here. Ren late and short, all while getting her face powdered for her troubles. This is impressive stuff from Emma, who's really putting things together in the opening round..."
Tess: "Dumont, as she pointed out, has only one FCBA fight, but Ren only has four..."
O'Dell: "And, she hasn't even been in the FCBA six months. One of the things experience helps with is problem solving, and that's what Cristy has to do right now, because she's being taken to the woodshed. There's the bell, and Emma stares down Ren before pivoting in the sand and stomping back to her corner. She's taken the first wide."
McCarthy: "And leads 10-9."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins the way the first ended. Dumont in control on the beach. She's using that left jab to set up hard right hands, boxing beautifully at range, kicking up sand as she moves the feet. Ren trying to get to spots, but can't."
McCarthy: "Kid can't get the geometry right..."
O'Dell: "Not at the moment, anyway, and Emma's taking full advantage of that. Dumont's come in here with an excellent fight plan, using that length and her boxing skills, and she's executing it to perfection at the moment, taking the fight to Cristy Ren..."
Cassie: "EVERYBODY'S got a plan. The question is, can you make it work."
O'Dell: "And, the answer in Emma's case is an emphatic 'yes'. We're down under ten seconds in the second. GOOD combination there by Dumont, backs up Ren. And, there's the bell. For the second round in a row, no doubt about it. Dumont."
Tess: "And, Emma leads 20-18."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Cristy making an adjustment here. She's angling forward, keeping the hands high, looking to work inside and bang. Dumont using the jab, trying to keep Ren at range. She's able to do it at times, and, when she can, she's scoring."
McCarthy: "But, when Ren gets inside, it's all Cristy..."
O'Dell: "Is, indeed. Sand FLYING now, as we're seeing more movement than we have all night. Ren forward, Dumont side to side. Cristy slipping in, working some body. Emma tying her up, hanging on, forcing a break..."
Tess: "Good, two-way round."
O'Dell: "Definitely is. And, we're coming down the stretch in it. Ren working some body at short range. Again, Dumont tying up, hanging on until the ref gets in there and forces the brunettes apart. And, there's the bell. Close. Cristy's on the board."
Cassie: "But still trailing 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Into the fourth and we're seeing the same battle for terms we saw in the third. Dumont using the jab and the feet to try to stay at range, while Ren works forward, hands high, angling, looking to get inside to bring her power to bear."
McCarthy: "Lot of body work. Ref needs to watch low blows!"
O'Dell: "Ren working the ribs and abs. Dumont ties up. Ref forces a break. Emma back to range, kicking up sand as she moves laterally. Ren forward and DROPS DUMONT with a right hand! Emma splashes to her back in the sand..."
Cassie (singing): "Turn out the liiiiiggghhhtttsss. The party's ohhhhhverrrrr..."
O'Dell: "Cristy to a neutral corner. Emma down, eyes closed tightly as the referee counts. Three. Four. Five. Six. Not going to happen. Dumont not moving at all. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is 'The Russian Revolution', Cristy Ren!"
Tess: "Definitely has welter power. Definitely."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go across the street to Cassie Scerbo!"
Cassie: "I have our winner, Cristy Ren, and, Cristy, slow start tonight..."
Cristy (nodding): "She's very long and very skilled. Tough to deal with. I knew I had the physicals. I just had to find a way to get to her. And, I did."
Cassie: "Five fights this year and five wins..."
Cristy (smiling): "Let's go for six in December!"
"One fight," says a hard-eyed Emma. "One fight three years ago, and I gave McMann all she wanted. And, since then? Nothing! Well, that changes tonight, because I'm going to knock THIS girl out and prove Emma Dumont belongs in the FCBA!"
