BEFORE:
"She's good," says Ashley with a smile. "But, she's not GREAT. She's never gotten to that CHAMPIONSHIP level. And, that's the difference tonight. Because, I HAVE."
"Ashley's definitely a challenge," says Meg with a nod. "But, she's a challenge I'll ABSOLUTELY overcome."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'It's Alright, It's OK', and here comes the singer of that tune, former Unified Flyweight Champion Ashley Tisdale!"
McCarthy: "Not the TYPICAL Dancing Hooker Opponent, which is always a surprise when you come to this rat hole..."
O'Dell: "Tisdale all smiles on her way to the ring, clearly happy to be back in Philly..."
McCarthy: "Not sure why ANYONE would want to come here. I have my clothes funerated every time I get home from this place!"
Cassie: "They could power wash the inside of your skull just by sticking the hose in one ear and letting the water come out the other..."
McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."
O'Dell: "Now calm DOWN, Mac, and let's keep our eye on the ring where Ashley is helped off with the robe to reveal a coral number that has the crowd popping. And, that's 'BAAM' you hear hammering through the arena, and here comes the singer of that tune, 'The Peapack Punisher', Meg Donnelly!"
Tess: "Donnelly on a nice run right now, but she's still at the bottom of a deep Front Street flyweight division and she'll definitely want to get a result tonight."
O'Dell: "Meg into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. Crowd showing plenty of appreciation for the lovely blonde in that yellow number she likes. And, we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Meg. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Tisdale's a real fighter. Ashley!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Split panel. Let's see who's right. Tisdale to work early. She's aggressively after the younger woman, backing her up with nice combinations. Donnelly retreating in good order, but she IS retreating, as Ashley gets in rhythm quickly..."
McCarthy: "This is what happens when Dancing Hookers get in against REAL fighters!"
O'Dell: "Tisdale pressing the advantage. Meg isn't hurt, but she's being backed up consistently by hard, accurate fire from the former champion. Donnelly countering in spots, but Ashley's in control, as she has been from the start."
Cassie: "Meg spending too much time on the back foot."
O'Dell: "Because Tisdale is keeping her there, Under twenty seconds to go in the first. NICE combination by Ashley. Meg lands a solid counter and Tisdale circles away, legging out the final seconds. There's the bell. TIsdale. Wide."
Tess: "And Ashley grabs the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins with Meg trying to enforce distance with the jab. Ashley working to step to, get off in combination. She's getting to spots here and there, but not as consistently as she did in the first. Result is some two-way stuff."
Tess: "Definitely a nice adjustment from Meg."
O'Dell: "Absolutely. She's not gaining control of the situation, but she IS stopping Ashely from taking control as she did in the first. Both blondes getting some work done in spots, and there's not much in it at the moment, Mac..."
McCarthy: "No, pretty even round so far."
O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch now. SHARP exchange by the two blondes. Nobody really gaining any kind of advantage in that one. Final seconds tick away and there's the bell. Very close in the second, but Meg gets the points."
Cassie: "And, we are even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins like the second ended, with the two blondes on even terms. Donnelly using the jab to enforce distance, Tisdale looking step to middle distances, sometimes close, force Meg back like she did in the opening stanza."
Cassie: "Both fighters moving very well."
O'Dell: "No question about it. Lots of movement of head, hands, and feet in what's been exactly what you'd have expected so far, a good, competitive fight between good flyweights. NICE right by Tisdale there, backed Meg up a step."
McCarthy: "Ashley just needs to keep after this stiff. She'll knock her out!"
O'Dell: "But, likely not here in the third. We're down under ten seconds in what's been another very close round. Ladies trade solid right hands and there's the bell. Once again, almost nothing in it, but, this time, Ashley gets the points."
Tess: "And, Tisdale back in the lead 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Same again here in the fourth. Pattern seems to be set now. Ladies fighting on very even terms with Meg wanting a little distance and Ashley looking to close, either some or right into the phone booth. Both getting some of what they want..."
Tess: "And, it all comes down to who's getting more of it."
O'Dell: "Sure does, and, at the moment, no one is. For the third frame in a row, we're on very even terms. SHARP exchange there, with both women landing good right hands. Nobody hurt, but some sweat sent flying!"
Cassie: "Plenty of action in this one."
O'Dell: "No question about that. We're coming down the stretch now, and, for the third straight round, very little distance between the two fighters. Another sharp trade and there's the bell. Very, very close to Meg in the fourth..."
McCarthy: "And, we're even at 38."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Ladies back to work, boxing effectively once again. Meg continuing to have her best moments at range, while Ashley's working in a little bit more now, trying to get physical with the younger woman. Once again, both fighters having some success..."
McCarthy: "Tisdale is going to take this girl out of here ANY time now..."
O'Dell: "NICE right hand from Ashley, and that backs up Donnelly Tisdale stepping to and is ROCKED WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Former champ is HURT and Meg ALL IN, winging away with both hand and DROPPING TISDALE WITH A STRAIGHT RIGHT!"
Tess: "PRETTY punch!"
O'Dell: "Donnelly to a neutral corner. Tisdale down on her back. Count at three. Four. Five. Ashley sits up at six. Seven. Eight. Tisdale to her feet. Ref going to give the older blonde the mandatory and wave on Meg! Donnelly all buzz saw now, driving Ashley to the ropes and WOBBLING her with a right hook and IT'S OVER! The ref leaps in and it's OVER! And your winner by TKO5 is 'The Peapack Punisher', Meg Donnelly!"
Cassie: "Excellent finish. Didn't let Tisdale off the hook!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Meg Donnelly, and, Meg, it wasn't easy in there..."
Meg (nodding): "That's the way I knew it would be. She wore the gold for a reason. She's GOOD. But, I've been proving for a while now that I'm at this level. Tonight, I proved it again."
Tess: "What's next for you?"
Meg (smiling): "Whatever Wiz and your BFF have in mind is fine with me! I just want to get back in the ring once or twice more before the year ends!"
