"I REALLY thought I'd get more opportunities in the FCBA," says Maggie with a shake of the head. "Just goes to show. Put a scare into some people and the phone won't ring. Well. Tonight, I'm going to do more than SCARE Kennedy. I'm going to knock her OUT."
"She's long and can box," Kennedy admits. "She's no easy out. But. She's GOING out. Count on that."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Pretty Poison' by Nessa Barrett, and here comes Poison Ivy herself, Maggie Geha!"
McCarthy: "Ridiculous. They're going to FEED that FRAUD a fighter with NO FCBA wins! I demand an INVESTIGATION!"
Tess: "HERE we go..."
McCarthy: "SHUT UP, WALMART!"
O'Dell: "Drink up, boys. Geha one half of a battle of redheads here tonight. She's into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a scarlet number that has the crowd popping..."
Oh, the shark, babe
Has such teeth, dear
McCarthy: "TRAGEDY OF JUSTICE! TRAGEDY OF JUSTICE! I'LL SUE! I'LL SUE!"
Cassie: "HERE we go..."
McCarthy: "Shut up, Scabbo!"
O'Dell (sighing): "That song you hear is 'Mack The Knife' by Bobby Darin, and here comes Kennedy 'Mac the Knife' McMann!"
McCarthy: "FRAUD! STOLE MY SONG AND SHE'S A FRAUD!"
O'Dell: "Four more after this and a nice bottle from Pointy's cellar. Meanwhile, McMann sparing not a glance for J-Mac on her way by the table. She's into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that lavender number both she and the crowd clearly like..."
McCarthy: "She couldn't even BUY AN ISSUE of 'Playboy' let alone get inside!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Kennedy. Mac?"
McCarthy: "She's a FRAUD! Geha!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Split panel. Let's see who's right. Ladies getting their respective boxes on early, working at range. No surprise there, as both fighters are long and like to extend on their punches. Geha working that left hand. She's got the reach advantage here, and she's trying to use it..."
McCarthy: "Just keep working the left, hit THE FRAUD one good right and it will be over."
O'Dell: "McMann moving head, hands, and feet, working some angles to offset the reach, able to get off in combination here and there. Not a lot in it right now, as both fighters score, but also do some recon here, probing defenses as they go."
Cassie: "This is some nice stuff from both fighters."
O'Dell: "Agreed. And, we're rolling into the final fifteen seconds of the round. Nice exchange there. Best punches of the fight so far in that trade. Five seconds left. Geha jabbing and there's the bell. Close, but Maggie's going to get the points."
Tess: "And grab the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins with McMann turning up the heat. Kennedy pressing forward behind the left now, looking to take the fight to the taller woman. Maggie willing to give some ground, fight in counter here. She's scoring some that way..."
Tess: "But, Kennedy taking control, it looks like..."
O'Dell: "Sure does. McMann staying sound, not taking undue chances, but she's definitely more aggressive in this stanza, looking to bring power to bear, force Maggie out of her stance, make her uncomfortable, and that's exactly what she's doing..."
McCarthy: "Geha needs to just dig in and fight here!"
O'Dell: "Easier said than done at the moment. Taller redhead can't hold canvas right now. McMann hooking some body, then landing a nice right to the head. Ten seconds remaining in what's been a good round for Kennedy. Nice exchange there and the bell rings. Kennedy. Wide."
Cassie: "And, we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "McMann continuing to press forward in the third. Geha managing it better now. She's giving ground, yes, but she's countering, scoring, while she does so. Kennedy fighting lead, landing a bit more, landing heavier stuff..."
Cassie: "Trying to impose some will here, and, to a point, getting that done."
O'Dell: "But, only to a point. Maggie not getting thrown completely over to the defensive like she did in the previous round. RIGHT HAND, MCMANN AND DOWN GOES GEHA! Oh, that one came out of nowhere, a perfectly-placed right hand!"
Tess: "That's going to do it!"
O'Dell: "It just might. Kennedy to a neutral corner. Geha down on her back, eyes closed, not moving at all. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. As Tess said, it's going to be academic. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO3 in one-punch fashion is Kennedy 'Mac The Knife' McMann!"
McCarthy: "LUCKY PUNCH! LUCKY PUNCH!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Kennedy McMann, and, Kennedy, you didn't waste a lot of time tonight..."
Kennedy (smiling): "She can box, Tess, and, she's a welter. At this weight, everybody's dangerous. When you get a chance to take a girl out of there, you have to take advantage, and I did."
Tess: "You've been doing a lot of things lately, some beach, light, welter. What's next?"
Kennedy (shrugging): "Just keep working and see where the opportunities come. I'm comfortable at either weight, comfortable on the sand. So, we'll keep our options open."
