"Didn't exactly cover myself with glory the last time I was here," Candice admits. "But, that was then, this is now, and this is the beach. Things will be different tonight."
"Candice is right," says a hard-eyed Ariel. "Things WILL be different tonight. Because she'll be going to sleep in sand and not on canvas."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and the four-sided giant screen lowered over the ring, which means Asylum Beach is about to get some use. And, that's 'All Right Now' by Free you hear behind us, and that can only mean the lovely Candice Patton is making her way across the sand."
McCarthy: "And, this girl can actually FIGHT. She had K-Stew the last time, but she'll beat THIS tomato can!"
O'Dell: "Patton helped off with the robe, and she's looking VERY good in that orange number we've seen before. And, that's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' you hear pounding through the arena, but Taylor Swift is not back and that's not her version of the tune. That's the cover by the lovely young lady striding across Asylum Beach, Ariel 'Dangerous Curves' Winter!"
Tess: "Winter's been doing a lot of different things lately, as she's been shut out of the flyweight title picture. Lots of beach and JMD work and also working some at bantam..."
Cassie: "And, the plan is to keep mixing it up with her."
O'Dell: "Winter helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve and the crowd popping for Ariel in that curve-hugging white number she likes. Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Ariel. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Like I said, Patton will beat THIS tomato can!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Candice doing some bouncin' and misbehavin' early. She's kicking up sand with the jab and circle. Patton very athletic, very quick, and she'd using all of that right now to make things tough for the shorter woman."
McCarthy: "Keep that jab in her face, Patton!"
O'Dell: "That's what the older woman's doing. For her part, Winter looking to close, bring her power to bear. Not having much success doing it, though. Candice here, there, and everywhere. Sometimes sand can slow a fighter down, but it doesn't look like it's having that effect on Patton..."
Cassie: "Definitely is not. Girls who are lighter on their feet don't have as much of a problem with that...and Candice looks plenty light right now."
O'Dell: "Down the stretch in the first. Patton with a combination and then another. Winter still stalking. She's been able to land here and there, but that's about it. Final seconds tick away and there's the bell. It's Patton and it's wide in the first."
Tess: "And Candice has the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Patton moving. Winter stalking as we start the second. Ariel beginning to get to spots now. She's cutting the ring, stepping to, banging body. Candice willing to exchange on these terms, as she's got power, too, leading to some HEAVY trades, especially to the body."
Tess: "Patton not afraid to hook a little rack, either."
O'Dell: "Is not. She's back to the circle now, as Ariel steps forward, looking to block or slip that jab, then get inside. TONS of body being tenderized when Winter manages it, as, again, Patton doesn't look for the quick escape, instead firing back."
Cassie: "Mics are definitely picking up the sound of some of those body shots..."
O'Dell: "There are twenty seconds left in the second. Ladies working inside, digging body. Patton hooks to rack and Winter responds in kind. Nice uppercut Ariel drives Candice back a step and there's the bell. Close one, but Winter gets the points."
Cassie: "And evens things at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third starts the way the second ended. Patton wants to box at range, work the stick and move, and she's effective on those terms. Winter stalking, looking to cut the ring, close and bang. Both fighters throwing up plenty of sand right now..."
Cassie: "Lots of movement going on, that's for sure."
O'Dell: "And, effective movement at that. Nice combination, Patton. Ariel cuts, steps inside, goes tummy in a big way. Patton banging back, hooking rack. Winter responding in kind and we've got some non-JMD jug-mugging going on in there!"
McCarthy: "Ref needs to watch Winter for low blows! Remember, CAMPBELL trains girls at Front Street!"
O'Dell: "Ten seconds remaining in what's been another close round. Sharp exchange there and another. Patton slips away and begins the jab and circle, popping that left into her rival's face. And, there's the bell. Close again, Candice this time."
Tess: "And, Patton back on the lead 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Winter pressing forward as we start the fourth. Patton on the move, laterally, even giving ground in spots. She wants space to get her box on, and she's been plenty effective when she's been able to get it. Winter slips a left, steps inside, works some body..."
Tess: "Ariel's invested pretty heavily down there, as usual."
O'Dell: "Sure has. Patton again hanging in there with her, banging back, body, head, again hooking a little rack. Winter responding in kind, then THUMPING some leather into the belly and ROCKING PATTON WITH AN UPPIE! Candice stumbles backward and WINTER DROPS HER WITH A RIGHT HAND!"
Cassie (singing): "Turn out the liiiiggghhhhttttssss. The party's ohhhhhverrrrrr..."
O'Dell: "Patton splashed to her back in the sand. Winter to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Candice blinking up at the referee. Six. Seven. Rolls to her belly. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Patton face down in the sand as the count passes her by and it's OVER and your winner by KO4 is Ariel 'Dangerous Curves' Winter!"
McCarthy: "Lucky! Just lucky!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go across the street to Cassie Scerbo!"
Cassie: "I have our winner, Ariel Winter, and, Ariel, seems like you're starting to like the beach..."
Ariel (smiling): "I don't mind getting a little sand between my toes, Cassie. But, seriously, I've really enjoyed getting a chance to do a lot of different things these past couple of years. Beach, and JMD, and bantam along with flyweight, and I want to keep doing them."
Cassie: "I know you want another shot at a title. Does it matter which one?"
Ariel: "Not at the moment, no. I'm just going to keep working hard to get a shot SOMEWHERE."
"Didn't exactly cover myself with glory the last time I was here," Candice admits. "But, that was then, this is now, and this is the beach. Things will be different tonight."
