Intro:
Now it's main event time in Turin's Pala Alpitour Arena. Raffaella Modugno (2-3) will be hoping to break the curse of this year's Diamond Boxing Tournament, she will hope to win on home soil, something other fighters have struggled to do. Her opponent is a woman with still a chance to win it all. Ireland Baldwin (4-1) has been a bit of a surprise package to be firmly at the moment in the top three and as a possible winner of the tournament.
Before the fight Raffaella was asked to say a few words at the city hall in front of press and fans. Raffaella standing at the podium wearing a navy blue dress and heels. After her thanking the fans for all their support over the years she has taken up celebrity female boxing.
She is then asked about her fight with Ireland. She grins as she tells them all in Italian "I will beat her in front of you all. She can be as tall as she wants but I will bully her, break her down and knock her out." Flexing her arms to a loud cheer as she looks in her element.
Meanwhile Ireland doesn't get such a warm welcome. She instead does her video outside her hote wearing a white hoodie, blue jeans and white heels. Telling the camera "I guess I don't get the red carpet treatment. I know all these people hope that I get knocked out by Raffaella. I hate to tell them but their hero is an old hag, I see her wrinkles and how desperate she is to hang onto her youth." Laughing to herself as she holds her stomach.
She then adds "to Hailey (Clauson) and Amy (Willerton), I am going to win this tournament and show you that having a fancy stable behind you doesn't mean anything. I have worked with the best in Charlize (Theron), now I am free to make my own schedule and training routine. I am in my prime and ready to prove I deserve to be a champion." A more stern look on her gorgeous face as she is fired up to prove she deserves to be in that elite conversation.
Fight night! There's a loud roar when Raffaella emerges through the curtain. She struts down the aisle with a grin. Stepping through the ropes into the ring wearing a blue sports bra with an Italian flag badge on her left bra cup, blue trunks with gold stripes down the sides, matching shoes, with navy blue gloves, her hair is tied into a ponytail as she bounces on her toes looking keen to get things started.
The mood changes as Ireland heads out and boos rain down at her. Ireland doesn't care as she walks down the aisle with a smile. Climbing into the ring wearing a black sports bra, sports trunks with red stripes down the sides, matching shoes, red gloves, while her hair is braided. She taps her gloves together as she stares across the ring at her foe.
Brought to the center of the ring by the referee. Both locking eyes with an intense stare as this is very important for both women. Mentally they can't lose this bout. They crack their gloves into their opponents set before walking to their corner. Once ready the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
"Ding!" Out come the fighters with the crowd of course firmly behind Raffaella. She is ducking down to test the abs of Ireland with several straight shots. Ireland landing jabs downwards at the face of her opponent. Both wanting to grip the fight in their hands early, leading to a few scruffy exchanges between them.
Raffaella lands a crisp jab under the chin of Ireland, following with an overhand right to twist her head. Ireland a little lax there with her guard, leading to her being swarmed as Raffaella presses her back to the ropes. Hammering away at the torso of the taller woman till Ireland can push back Raffaella.
Ireland fighting more two punch combos to try to keep her foe at arms length. Raffaella showing she has the bit between her teeth early as she hammers more punches towards the jugs and abs of the American to get the crowd roaring. A few hooks coming from Baldwin to show her teeth in this fight. The bell rings with a loud roar as Raffaella waves for the crowd to cheer. Ireland sitting on her stool scowling at Raffaella.
Round 2:
Ireland doubling up her jab now to ward off Raffaella early on. Raffaella moving her upper body to look for different angles to strike. Exchanging punches in midrange as Raffaella sticks to the torso of her larger foe to try to cut her down. Ireland though nudges her back with her left, landing a hard right cross to the face of Raffaella to twist her head around.
That is the opening Ireland needed as now she has herded back Raffaella. The national hero trying to step inside but keeps getting nudged back by Ireland. A jab/straight lands on the forehead of Modugno to knock her head back.
Less then forty seconds to go. Raffaella deflects a straight as she lands a right cross on the jaw of Ireland. Stepping inside to pound at the ribs of the blonde. Raffaella gets the crowd back on their feet. Ireland nudges her back to create space, both letting their hands go till the round comes to an end. Ireland certainly not having it all her own way as she sits on her stool looking bugged by Raffaella. The local girl tapping her gloves looking keen to keep after her foe.
Round 3:
Back at it they go with both digging their toes in to exchange around the center of the ring. Ireland lands a crisp double jab to send back Raffaella two steps. She just misses with a sweeping right hook as Raffaella ducks under it and hammers in two left hooks to the ribs of Baldwin.
Raffaella gets nudged back but lands a crisp left cross to the chin of Ireland. She gets a loud cheer as she starts muscling back Ireland into a neutral corner. Digging in short punches like pistons into the stomach of Ireland, her head near the chin of the big blonde. Who clinches up with Modugno to stop her momentum.
After they are broken up. Ireland lands a jab/straight through the mitts of Raffaella to her face. Stepping back when the Italian star tries to move in closer, a counter left hook lands on the cheek of Raffaella to turn her head. Momentum switching around as Baldwin now works back Modugno to the ropes. Pinning her down till the round comes to an end. Both women looking fired up as they walk back to their corners after a closely fought round.
Round 4:
Resuming with Raffaella stepping inside early with several good clean body shots to make Ireland hiss. She gets pushed back with a left glove to her face, right cross slamming into her jaw as Ireland opens up more. Nearing the end of the opening minute, a missed left cross by Raffaella leads to her getting hit with a counter right across her face. IRELAND STEPS IN WITH A LEFT HOOK TO THE CHEEK OF RAFFAELLA TO SEND THE LOCAL WOMAN DOWN TO HER BACK!
Ireland marches over to the neutral corner with a look that says "finally!" As the referee begins the count. 1....2....3... Raffaella has the crowd chanting her name to spur her on. 4....5....6... She pushes up to sit up straight as she shakes her head. 7....8.... Pushing to her feet, raising her gloves as she nods to the referee that she is alright to fight on.
Back they go with Ireland on the front foot. Still more then half the round to go as Raffaella has to hold and hit at times to stop Ireland's charges. Ireland pressing Raffaella against the ropes when they are stuck together to play mind games and to try to wear her out.
The crowd are firm it seems in their belief for their girl. Even as blood soon trickles from her nostrils as Ireland hammers in several clean straight punches to her face. The round comes to an end with Baldwin looking around at the crowd with a smug look. Raffaella gets her nose patched up as she grimaces. Still she is giving a hard look to her opponent.
Round 5:
Ireland looks to be growing more in control of the action. Pushing back Raffaella early with a double jab around her nose. Raffaella moving side to side near the ropes, jabbing back as she looks for a way to turn the tide. Ireland starting to throw more hooks as she looks to get Raffaella out of there, not all landing though as the older woman is showing good resolve to stick in when needed.
As they near the half way stage of the round. Raffaella ducks under a straight and rams in a right near the liver area of Ireland. Who winces as she groans out loud. An overhand left slams into her ear as Raffaella now has the wind in her sails, bashing back Ireland to her body to get her against the ropes.
When Ireland's guard dips to protect her body, she is getting hammered over the top to her face. Ireland grabs onto Raffaella in a sweat soaked embrace. Raffaella hissing a few insults in Italian; while Ireland doesn't understand them exactly, judging by the curse words she fires back she understands the tone of them.
They are broken up with both letting their hands go in a desperate effort to land a big punch. The round soon coming to an end with both women being hurt by the other in this bout. Ireland is taking in several more bigger breaths as that body shot took something out of her to say the least.
Round 6:
Ireland still looks sore as she is clipped around her torso. Landing several stiff punches back into Raffaella's face to make her back off. Raffaella deflects a straight and steps in with one of her own to the lips of her foe. DIPPING UNDER A LEFT HOOK AND MOVING TO IRELANDS LEFT SIDE, RAFFAELLA LANDS A LEFT HOOK THAT BURIES INTO THE SOLAR PLEXUS OF IRELAND! DOWN GOES BALDWIN TO HER KNEES!
A loud roar erupts from the crowd as Raffaella walks to the neutral corner with a smile. 1....2....3... Ireland rubs her stomach as her face is flushed red. 4....5... Breathing hard as she tries to catch her breath. 6....7....8... Ireland pushes to her feet gingerly. She nods she wants to fight on with a flushed look to her face.
They fight on with Raffaella not charging in as Ireland is bracing herself for a straight on attack. Instead the veteran showing her experience to feint. Dipping down to land another right into the bread basket of Ireland to make her gasp. Ireland is hurt as she gets pounded back into a neutral corner. Ireland's coach yelling at her to hold as tears form in her eyes. WHEN SHE IS BARELY DEFENDING HERSELF, IRELANDS COACH HAS SEEN ENOUGH AS THEY THROW THE TOWEL IN! THE REFEREE SEES IT AND STEPS IN BETWEEN THEM AS THEY RULE THE FIGHT OVER! SAVING IRELAND FROM MORE PUNISHMENT!

Raffaella has the crowd standing and chanting "Forza Raffaella!" To make her smile warmly. Getting a hug from her coach when she returns to her corner. While this was far from an easy victory, Raffaella showing tonight why she deserves massive respect as a fighter. Toughing it out to come out on top.
Ireland on the other hand cradles her body as she sits on the middle turnbuckle. Tears running down her cheeks as she is in too much pain to complain as her coach steps into the ring to check on her. Helping her back to her corner and onto her stool. Where an ice pack is placed on her stomach.
The winner getting an Italian flag handed to her as she does a lap of honour holding the flag up. Not even acknowledging her beaten foe as she walks past Ireland's corner. Too busy taking in the loud cheers from the fans. A few tears of joy in her eyes as she finishes the lap back in her corner.
Once Ireland is feeling up to it, she gingerly climbs through the ropes and out the ring. Her hopes of winning this tournament have been ended here in Turin. Hailey Clauson is this year's Diamond Boxing Tournament winner. Ireland looking gutted that she couldn't win this tournament by beating Hailey in their final bout of the event. Instead she has to lick her wounds as she still has the ice pack on her body.
All eyes though are on Raffaella as she heads to the middle of the ring. Getting her left hand raised in victory as she blows kisses with her left hand to the fans. This might be arguably her biggest victory purely because of the drama of fighting in front of her friends, family and fans in such an electric atmosphere.
Leaving the ring after a few more moments of celebration. Raffaella has an outside chance now that she can actually finish third in the tournament rankings. Like she shows in the ring; you can never count out Raffaella making a statement. The veteran showing she is dangerous against any opponent on any given day.
