Intro:
Two actresses do battle as they both look to make 2017 their year,
Kaya Scodelario looks to remind unbeaten this year as she takes on
Jennifer Morrison.
Kaya is 25 years old and holds a record of 11 wins (11kos) and 3
losses overall in her career, while Jennifer is 37 years old and is 7
wins (7kos) and 13 losses.
Meeting at the press conference, the girls shake hands but don't look
like they will be hugging each other anytime some.
After heading to their tables, Kaya is asked to speak first, she
warmly smiles, looking as if she's shook the chip off her shoulder.
"God it's so good to be free of that shadow named Willa, she clung
onto me but I've shown that I deserve to be fighting the bigger names
and it starts tomorrow" says Kaya.
She adds "Jennifer has experience and a good boxing brain, so this
should be a good test but one I don't see stopping me on my run"
Jennifer nods but replies in her own speech "that's a good way of
thinking Kaya, but I am not going to give you another win, you'll have
to knock me out"
Kaya smirks and replies "that's the plan" which gets a glare from
Jennifer, she looks ready to get up and say something to her face.
But she holds back and just says "I'm planning on being a title
contender again so don't get your hopes up" before the girls are
brought face to face again.
After staring each other down while photos are taken of the face to
face, the girls are ushered off stage in opposite directions to go for
the weigh in and then whatever they have planned before the fight.
Fight night, out comes Kaya with Lauren Berlingeri and Eva Carneiro by
her sides, she bounces on her toes at the top of the ramp, looking
focused on the task at hand as she starts to walk to the ring.
She's wearing a violet sports bra, matching trunks with Scodelario
written on her waist band in white, she has purple gloves and shoes to
finish her look off.
Climbing into the ring to a loud cheer, the English girl waving to the
crowd as she does a lap inside the ring, before settling into her warm
up routine in her corner.
Now out comes Jennifer, her coach standing behind her as she smiles,
pointing down to the ring, she then starts waving her hands to the
crowd to get them going as she heads to the ring.
She's wearing a yellow sports bra, matching shorts, gloves and boots
to go along with her flowing blonde locks she has tied up in a
ponytail.
Entering the ring, she jogs to her corner to go through her own warm
up routine, before both girls are brought to the ring centre.
After the instructions are read out, the girls are asked to touch,
which they do respectfully, no real animosity between these two yet.
They head back to their corners, the referee is happy to get things
started as he signals for the bell to begin 10 rounds of bantamweight
boxing action.
Round 1:
Out come the fighters, each trying to test the others defences with
their jabs, Kaya light on her feet as Jennifer tries to match pace
with her.
But it becomes apparent that either Jennifer hasn't warmed up properly
or she just isn't quick enough because Kaya is straight onto the
attack.
Dancing around a ponderous Jennifer who is missing with her punches
past a bobbing and weaving Kaya's head and taking some stiff punches
through her guard.
Her fans cheering her on, but it's the spitfire brunette whose
straight away on top as she lands two hooks around the guard of
Jennifer to turn her head around, as Jennifer throws a jab to try and
score something, Kaya is already back two steps to make her miss.
Kaya is after making one hell of a statement tonight it seems and as
she slips past a straight punch and lands to the inside of Jennifer's
guard with two stiff strikes of her own.
Pundits already are shaking their heads, clearly wondering if Jennifer
actually did any training looking at this display.
She is almost being toyed with as she lands two clipping shots to the
cheeks of Kaya, who simply moves back and fires back soon enough with
a hard straight to snap Jennifer's head back.
Jennifer just can not seem to get started, landing a few at best
glancing blows, while Kaya just eats through her guard to pound her to
the face.
The blonde being knocked backwards, forced to cover up and fight on
the back foot till the bell rings to end this nightmare start for
Morrison.
Jennifer looking a little like a deer caught in the headlights judging
by her expression, she takes a deep breath to calm herself down as her
coach cleans her face.
Kaya meanwhile just needs a little towelling down, clean the sweat off
her face and body and that is really it shockingly.
Round 2:
Kaya looking to continue on top, starts off with two straight shots
that Jennifer blocks as the blonde is starting on the back foot,
flicking out a jab as she's clearly trying to work out how to win
this.
It leads to her finally finding a way to fight back, letting Kaya come
forwards and trying to parry or block the shots coming at her, then
rifling her own straight shots through the spaces left behind in
Scodelario's guard.
Fans of Jennifer are looking relieved, after that first round they
were expecting her to be out the ring sooner then they expected,
instead she's starting to show some fight.
Kaya though does come back at Jennifer with a stiff straight to the
lips, following up with two more body shots to the flanks of the older
opponent.
Jennifer shoves her with her left and comes back with a right that
slams into the cheek of the brunette to start pressing Kaya back.
Kaya digs her heels in though as both fighters go to work on the
inside of each other, slamming shots up through the centre of each
others guards.
Jennifer eats two right hands to her cheek to knock her back a step,
Kaya working forwards with a three punch straight combo up top,
snapping the head of the blonde.
Covering up again as Kaya gets back onto the front foot and all the
work that Jennifer did this round is being wilted away by the second.
Realising she has to do something before losing this round, she stands
and trades with her English opponent, both girls slamming cross
punches up top with seconds to go.
The be rings with Kaya still with a skip to her step on the way back
to the corner, Jennifer doesn't seem like she seems to know if she's
coming or going the way she is going.
Round 3:
Back out come the fighters, Jennifer looking to get more aggressive,
Kaya on the other hand is still on the move, smirking as she goes.
The smirk disappears and is replaced by a serious looks as Jennifer
starts letting her hands go, knowing she needs to do something or get
run over by Kaya's speed.
Both girls stand and trade it out at the ring centre, each trying to
press the other backwards in tight, Jennifer starting to make some
headway as Kaya is the most static she's been during the entire fight
up to this point.
Jennifer nudges Kaya back and lands two hooks up top, for the first
real time in the fight, Kaya is being rocked backwards.
The brunette covering up as she gets pressed backwards by a flurry of
punches from her older opponent, the crowd starting to cheer loudly as
the nearly one sided fight is getting another dimension to it.
Though Kaya changed that by sidestepping the charging Jennifer and
pounding a left straight right across the side of her face.
Jennifer looking stunned as Kaya slams several shots straight through
her guard again, the blondes fans deflated again as she gets pounded
backwards.
Having to find her own feet again, Jennifer lands a right to the abs
of Kaya, but misses up top with a right hook.
That leaves the door open again for Kaya, who lands an uppercut to
hurt Jennifer, Morrison's legs shake as Kaya pounds her backwards to a
roar from the crowd.
They are baying for blood now and Kaya looks like she wants to give it
to them as she knocks Jennifer to the ropes with two punches through
her guard, followed by a left hook.
Jennifer desperately tries to fight off the ropes, both girls banging
away at each other up top, both looking somewhat hurt.
But it's Jennifer in danger late in the round and the bell comes as
music to her ears, leaning against the ropes for a moment to recover
before heading to her corner.
While Kaya smiles on her way back to her own corner, nodding to her
corner team who are trying to keep her grounded, but she looks ready
to fight all night the way she's buzzing in her corner.
Round 4:
Jennifer looks to try to stop the bleeding if you will and not let
Kaya keep ploughing on, problem is that she doesn't look fit enough to
do anything about it.
Kaya picking her punches early in the round, slamming rights and lefts
through the guard of Jennifer before she moves.
Jennifer looking upset as Kaya keeps on stalking her around the ring,
anytime the American tries to land something, she is missing and
taking two shots in return to her face to make matters worse.
Kaya is just beating Jennifer to the punch time and again, some people
boo, but Jennifer can't do anything to stop the onslaught she's under.
Her left eye is starting to swell up as Kaya seems to be paying close
attention to it, Jennifer finally landing a good solid right hand as
Kaya loses a little focus.
The blonde starting to come forwards, but she gets caught again with a
left cross and she is rocked by an uppercut.
Jennifer retreating as Kaya is looking for a finish, pounding a
covering up Morrison to the ropes, the referee is coming in close to
see if Jennifer is OK to continue.
Pushing herself off the ropes to clinch up with Kaya, the referee
seems to be taking some compassion on Morrison, he pulls them apart
after a few seconds.
Not long left in the round for Jennifer to survive, she starts firing
back but is clearly getting caught with the cleaner punches though.
The bell rings and Jennifer almost lifts her hands up as if she's won
the fight, just to celebrate getting out the round, she's looking a
real mess as her coach goes to clean her up.
The referee asks if she is fit to continue, Jennifer wants at least a
chance to do something, going out on a whimper isn't her idea tonight.
Round 5:
Jennifer comes out for the round, looking to get at Kaya early on,
instead she misses with a right hand and leaves herself open to an
uppercut.
Down goes Jennifer! Her eyes shut as she falls backwards and the
referee has to move a nearly jumping up and down Kaya to a neutral
corner.
The referee begins his count but as Jennifer doesn't stir at anytime
up to the count of 5, he waves that she's out and the fight is over.
Winner: Kaya Scodelario KO Round 5
After:
The referee is quick to wave the doctor in, Jennifer still laying flat
out as Kaya simply heads back to her corner without a care in the
world.
Jennifer turned over safely and smelling salts are used to bring her
round, soon she splutters awake but is too dazed to do much and the
stretcher is called into the ring.
Soon she's placed on it as her coach looks upset by the turn of
events, especially as Kaya doesn't show any concern in her corner,
just chatting with Lauren, whose taking her gloves off.
A respectful round of applause rings out around the arena, it's always
hard to see a fighter have to be stretchered out, but it's the best
way to keep her safe.
Kaya goes to the ring centre afterwards, getting her hand raised after
Jennifer is gone to mostly cheers, some people not happy with her lack
of action after she'd won towards her opponent, but she isn't
interested in that, she has things she wants to do and being kind to
fallen opponent's isn't on the list.
After she steps out the ring, she takes a few quick snaps with her
fans in the front row, before heading up the ramp and to the back.
She's smiling as journalists want a word, telling them "well Jen did
say I had to knock her out right, she can't bytch and moan when I do
that right?"
Changing the subject, she says "anyway, this is a big year for me and
possibly my stable, I've seen great change this past years, girls I
had became friends with kicked out the stable, a rival in that bytch
Willa f'in Holland"
Clenching her fists as she mentions that name, then relaxing as she
adds "It's time I stepped up to the plate, win the big fights and show
I belong as the top dog of this division, though it will be tough, I'm
set for the long haul guys, are you with me?!" She asks with a wide
grin on her face, before winking to the cameras and heading with her
corner team to the stable locker room.
A dominant performance is certainly one way of catching peoples eyes,
who she fights next maybe thinking about this as they check video of
this fight or it might spur them on to crush Kaya even more, time will
Tell.
