Intro:
We kick off tonight's action in the final round of the first ever Diamond Boxing Tournament with Damaris Lewis fighting in her hometown again against Bridget Regan, she will be hoping this time will end better for her as Damaris lost to Camille Kostek last time she was in New York, though so did Bridget Regan lose that same night as she seeks not to end the tournament with the wooden spoon of no wins.
Of all the fighters that have taken part Damaris is arguably the one to disappoint the most considering she is the BBU welterweight champion, though she could finish off strong after beating Antje Utgaard to assure herself that she won't be in the bottom two, now it's all about finishing the tournament with a respectable three wins from seven tough fights.
While Bridget hasn't silenced the retirement questions that have been flying her way throughout the tournament, it hasn't helped that women like Charlotte McKinney feel snubbed that Bridget got into this tournament ahead of them, Bridget showed some of her old magic when she fought Karen Gillan in her last fight, putting down one of the two women who can win this tournament but again she couldn't finish the job off.
Before the bout this time both women got a chance to come face to face, going onto the stage at the press event, the brash Damaris getting right into the face of Bridget as they square off, Damaris threatening her opponent with "bytch you better retire before I beat you into the grave, you a skinny ass punk if you think you can beat me" continuous threats and insults till Bridget slaps her with her right across her face.
There's an Ooh.. From the crowd before all hell breaks loose, Bridget has never been scared of anyone, as the two beauties yank each other around by their hair, security struggles to break them up as hells go flying, hair is being tugged out as both have strong grips.
When they are pulled apart, Bridget yells "I've dealt with s*** talkers like you all my life! I am going to enjoy shutting you the hell up!" Which Makes Damaris even more fired up, needing more people to hold her back as it doesn't seem the press will be getting many face to face photos, they won't be complaining about the footage though as both women have to be dragged off the stage at separate sides.
Fight night here in Madison Square Garden with Damaris out first with her coach behind her, she struts down to the aisle with an icy glare on her face, a long black robe with diamonds spelling her name on the back as she wants to show her worth it seems to all watching, banging her black gloves together at the ring steps as she kicks off her black heels.
As she steps through the ropes into the ring, it is made official that Damaris has asked for her and Bridget to fight in special attire to the rest of the field, the robe comes off to reveal a black bikini that shows off her impressive body, something that is believed why she requested they fight in bikinis for it seems to show up Bridget, flexing her arms as she looks into the camera, Damaris says "that bytch is going to be under my foot soon enough" pointing at her right foot as she winks with a grin.
Now Bridget comes out with her coach Moon Bloodgood, she hasn't bothered with a robe as she marches down to the ring in a light blue bikini and gloves, hair loose as the crowd whistle and cheer the still very impressive looking Regan, who looks all business tonight as for a first time clash, these two have quickly learned to hate each others guts.
Climbing through the ropes, both women come together at the center as Damaris seems like she can't wait for the bell, referee holding them apart as insults are spat out, coaches needed to calm things down as the fighters retreat to their corners with venomous stares aimed at their opponent.
The referee doesn't waste time bringing them to the center, just telling both in their corners to obey their instructions, they'll get a little leeway but this is boxing, with both nodding they accept those terms as their hair is tied into ponytails by coaches, the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
At the bell both women come straight at each other to loud cheers, Bridget moving her upper body more to dodge as Damaris is swinging in some nasty hooking hooks, the veteran looking the more controlled even as she is throwing in some wild punches that find thin air.
Damaris lands a left cross to the face but takes a left hook under her ribs, Bridget lands an overhand right then gets whacked back by a right cross on her jaw as the crowd are roaring, they smell an early knockout the way these two are tearing into each other through the opening minute.
Clinching up as they both swing a right hook at the same time that ends with them bumping bodies, they are hissing as they try to overpower each other, Damaris looks to be stronger in this little grappling fight, with the referee a struggling to break them apart when the kidney shots start to come in from both.
Half the round gone with neither really getting a foothold in the match, Lewis tries to land a right hook that Regan slips under, a left hook lands to the body followed by an uppercut that knocks back the model onto her heels, Bridget now powering her onto the ropes as she throws piston like punches to the body of her opponent.
Damaris covering up as she can only really clip Bridget from her position, the former FCBA champion is working those sides with hooks, head shoved right into the guard of Lewis to stop her breaking free, at the bell Bridget steps back and gets shoved back by Damaris, referee diving in to keep them apart as they look keen to keep on fighting.
Round 2:
The round starts nearly as chaotically as the first, both are starting to land a few more jabs, the hateful looks on faces shows how bitter this match already is, when punches land in the opening thirty seconds thuds can be heard as they are not playing with kid gloves.
Leaning out the way of a right cross, Damaris pounds a straight into the face of her opponent, then lands a left across her face to turn Bridget's head to the side, momentum turning to Lewis as she pounds back Regan onto the ropes with punches straight into her face.
Smartly Bridget holds onto Damaris when her back touches the ropes, Damaris taunting the legend as she leans into her ear, calling her old and broken down, referee needed again to pry them apart as already sweat covers their brows from the intensity of the fight so far.
Back on the front foot goes Damaris as Bridget covers up more, this is the BBU champions element, she is bullying Bridget around the ring, if not for Bridget showing a good defense she could be in trouble right now as the punches that are landing are turning her head.
Late in the round though Bridget shows off her skills to slip a left cross then goes to work on the body of Damaris as she gets in her grill, both fighters pounding away on the inside to the bell, shoving apart as they give their rival an icy glare before turning to their corners.
Round 3:
Damaris is definitely starting to come out the gates quicker, landing more punches that are knocking back the head of Bridget, who lands several good punches to the abs of the model in response, they are not warding her back though as Lewis keeps on walking forwards.
A feint by Damaris allows her to strike with a straight through the gloves of Bridget, knocking her head back as a small cut opens on the bridge of Regan's nose, Damaris has her bullseye now it seems as she opens up more now, targeting that cut with straight punches, more blood runs from the nose as Bridget finds herself being knocked around.
Past the halfway point of the round, Bridget dips under a left cross to bang in two right hooks to the body, she starts to come back at her opponent, whose gritting her mouthpiece not to groan under these body shots, landing several punches around the sides of the actresses head to make her retreat.
A one-two shuts down Bridget's comeback this round as her head snaps back with blood and sweat flying off, Bridget soon finding herself in a neutral corner as Damaris works away on her, covering up as best she can as Damaris barks at her "you are f**king finished old bytch" mocking the legend up to the bell, where she gives Bridget a disrespectful shove to the face, referee quick to hold back Bridget as she looks ready to jump on the strutting away Damaris.
Round 4:
The confidence of Damaris is there for everyone to see, she is enjoying drilling punches into the face of Bridget, beating her back to the ropes, where the tough veteran comes firing back but Damaris simply moves back then starts to bash back Regan again.
There's now some swelling around the left eye of Bridget to go with blood dripping off the tip of her nose from the cut, still Bridget gamely keeps fighting back, ducking more shots as the round goes on to give Damaris a taste of leather to her beautiful face and body.
But it is Damaris landing the better punches through the first half of the round, keeping Bridget stuck on the outside as she even taunts Bridget to bring it, tapping her chin as she shows no respect to a woman who once ruled this division for a time with Righetti.
Then the crowd are stunned as much as Damaris is, final minute to go as Damaris steps in with a right hook, Bridget slips it and counters with an uppercut to the body, then a left hook lands under the ribs of Damaris, lifting them up as a pained expression crosses the face of Lewis, AS SHE STEPS BACK A RIGHT POUNDS AROUND HER LIVER AREA, DOWN TO HER RIGHT KNEE GOES DAMARIS!
Bridget yells "get up the f**king bytch!" Waving her opponent up as the referee holds her back, Bridget goes to the neutral corner to loud cheers as the crowd are loving this! 1...2...3... Damaris is sucking in air as her mouthpiece hangs in her mouth, 4...5...6... Watching the referees count, Damaris looks furious as 7...8.. She pushes up to her feet with a pained look.
While the fight is allowed to continue on, the bell soon rings to end the round with Bridget showing more emotion then usual as she tells the fans "this is my f**king ring!" To loud cheers, her coach trying to cool her down as across the ring Damaris stays standing, an ice pack placed onto her body to numb the pain she is in.
Round 5:
Both women have been hurt as they step out their corners still looking determined, but it's clear Damaris isn't as keen to engage, Bridget using feints to create openings, taking a few jabs to her face but she is getting to the inside to pound that body of Lewis.
Who is now the one gamely fighting back as she tries to give herself time to recover, a missed right cross leaves her open to another two pounding left hooks to those ribs, THEN A RIGHT INTO THE SOLAR PLEXUS HAS DAMARIS GOING DOWN TO ALL FOURS!
The gumshield comes out as some wonder if Damaris is done, Bridget stares hatefully at her as she is at the neutral corner, banging her gloves together ready for more, 1...2...3...4.. Damaris is sucking in air as she is looking pained right now, 5...6.. Crawling to the ropes, Damaris grabs the middle ropes as 7...8...9.. She pulls herself up with them to cheers from her fans, referee checks she is OK getting a nod, then takes her to her corner as a time out is called to get her a fresh gumshield in.
The rest seems to help Damaris a little as she is landing some stiff jabs that keep Bridget at bay, it's clear by her chest rising faster that she is still struggling to breath normally as Bridget hunts her down, PARRYING A LEFT CROSS ASIDE BRIDGET LANDS A RIGHT TO THE BODY AGAIN, KNOCKING BACK DAMARIS INTO A CORNER AS THE TOWEL COMES IN FROM THE GARNETS CORNER! IT'S OVER!

Wow a somewhat upset to kick off tonight as Bridget turns away from Damaris looking to the heavens, she doesn't look much a winner but she makes sure she hasn't ended this tournament without a win, Moon rushing into the ring to embrace her friend as both shed tears as if Bridget has won another title.
While Damaris takes a knee spitting out her mouthpiece with an embarrassed look on her face, she was firmly on top and threw it away, her coach trying to console her but she pushes their hand away from her shoulder.
Her mood isn't helped from Bridget turns back to her yelling "I thought I was too old! Go back to bullying the rookies bytch!" As Moon is laughing, lifting up Bridget's right hand in the air to rub it in, Damaris mumbling curse words under her breath before she slides under the bottom rope out the ring.
Heading to the back holding her body, Damaris is still in pain but she doesn't want to be there, for the second time she has lost in front of her home supporters, who are actually booing her as her coach tries to help her, she keeps nudging them away as she wants to be left alone.
In the ring Bridget gets cleaned up as she looks like a weight has been taken off her back, then she heads to the middle of the ring for the result to be made official, her left arm raised by the referee to a loud cheer, the crowd showing their love and respect for the veteran as she blows a kiss to them.
Afterward Bridget asks for a pen, she signs her gloves on camera before saying she'll auction them for charity since they will be a historic part of her career, Moon patting her on her back as she says "that's why I am blessed to be your friend" getting a hug from Bridget, who tells her she is lucky to have a friend like her in her corner.
They leave the ring together beaming as Bridget finally gets back on the winning path, it might be too soon to say that Bridget can go on a run but for those who love her this has to be the ultimate feel good factor tonight and it's only the first bout of tonight.
