Our reporter and his blonde companion sit watching baseball at Bazz with Cassandra Lynn Scerbo, Poindexter Del Crunchy, and the Man In The Hat.
Reporter: "So, Wiz, little bit of a tough PPV for Front Street..."
Man In The Hat: "Oh, I'm not sweatin' it too much. I mean, you never like to go 0-2 on pay-per-view, but, obviously, you've got a title fight there that you lose by one point against a girl like Naomi Scott...I mean, that's not bad stuff."
Cassie: "I thought Chloe fought very well..."
Pointy: "She absolutely did, girl..."
Man In The Hat: "You can lose to Naomi Scott any day of the week and twice on Sundays. But, there aren't many girls who can BEAT Naomi Scott or take her to the cards and lose by one point. Chloe is one of those girls. It was a great fight. Scott came out on top. Give credit to her..."
Tess: "As I recall, this is a pet peeve of yours..."
Man In The Hat: "Yes, it is. I see players and coaches do this all the time. 'Well, we lost because we didn't play well...we made this mistake...we have to do better.' Well. Maybe you didn't and maybe you did and maybe you do. But. You know what ELSE? There's another team out there and THEY made some plays, too. Sometimes, the other guy makes a play. Sometimes, you don't LOSE the game, they WIN the game. Chloe didn't LOSE the fight, Naomi Scott WON the fight. So, give credit to Naomi Scott. Chloe will be fine. I expect she'll get other opportunities at some point. Of course, you never know. But, I suspect she will."
Reporter: "Is your streak of winning a title every year for the last nine years over?"
Man In The Hat (nodding): "I suspect it is. But. Our streak of having held a belt every year of our existence, twelve years, will continue at least until next year, so there's that..."
Tess: "Still time to get another shot this year..."
Man In The Hat (shrugging): "I suppose it's possible, but I don't think so. We've just had a bantamweight shot. We already had the lightweight title this year. And, we're out of the picture at flyweight, obviously..."
Reporter: "Because you aren't waiting for Holt..."
Man In The Hat: "Correct. Olivia Holt has had SEVEN opportunities to knock on our door. And, we had one or more top ten flyweights all seven times. And, we ain't gonna get the call for the eighth opportunity, either. So, forget my number. Olivia Hastings Holt is gonna go down in FCBA history as a multiple-time champion. She MAY go down as a Hall of Famer. But. And, count on this. She's gonna end her career without EVER having beaten a Front Street fighter. Count on it."
Tess: "On another subject, how big was McMann's loss to Daddario?"
Man In The Hat: "Well, here's the thing. Daddario's a heck of a fighter, so, it's not a big deal to lose to Alex Daddario. But. This is the second time Kennedy's had a big chance on pay-per-view and not been able to cash it. She's currently fifth in our lightweight pecking order. And, there are only five girls IN that pecking order..."
Cassie: "And, Uncle Wiz is not happy about the results we're getting in big fights..."
Man In The Hat: "I am NOT."
Reporter: "You said not long ago that you didn't expect another reorg in 2022..."
Man In The Hat: "And, I still don't. However. We have six months left of 2021. I plan to use those to see where we are and if some changes are necessary. I like this roster. I like everyone ON it. But. We have to win OUR SHARE of the big fights. Right now, we're not getting that done. That being said, we need a larger sample size to see if this is something REAL or just noise in the data. We're going to use the rest of this year to increase that sample size. When it's over, we'll have made some decisions. It's quite possible we'll go into 2022 with the exact same roster we have now. It's also possible there will be a change or two. And, it's also possible you'll see something closer to what happened at the beginning of 2020, where a third of the roster turns over. Is that likely? No. Is it possible? As we sit here today, yes, it most certainly IS. Now, let's watch some ball, shall we?"
