Our reporter and his blonde companion sit watching baseball and basketball at Bazz with Cassandra Lynn Scerbo, Poindexter Del Crunchy, and the Man In The Hat.
Reporter: "So, Wiz, Tess is picking you to lose both pay-per-view fights..."
Cassie: "Alexa, check and see when my order for 300 cases of tapioca will arrive..."
Alexa: "Your tapioca will be delivered by 5pm tomorrow..."
Reporter: "Very funny..."
Tess: "Keep it up with the picks questions and she'll need to double that order..."
Man In The Hat (laughing): "Smackeroo, do you know who has the longest winning streak in major American team sports?"
Reporter: "Believe it or not, I do. It's the Connecticut women's basketball team. 111 games."
Pointy: "I'm literally GOBSMACKED that he knew that..."
Reporter: "The UCONN women also had a 90 game streak."
Man In The Hat: "Correct. And, next in line are the UCLA men at 88 games. The UCONN women also had a 70-game streak, and the University of San Francisco won 60 in a row when Bill Russell was there. Behind those sit the Oklahoma Sooners of Bud Wilkinson, who won 47 straight games. Those are the six longest winning streaks in major American sports. And, do you know what they all have in common?"
Reporter: "All college teams."
Man In The Hat: "Correct. The longest streak in any major American PROFESSIONAL sport belongs to the LA Lakers. 33 games. That's less than a third as long as UCONN's record and not even half as long as UCLA's men's record. And, do you know why the longest professional win streak pales in comparison to the college streaks?"
Reporter: "Competition level."
Man In The Hat: "Correct. In college sports, if you're a very good or great team, there are going to be games where you have a HUGE edge in talent. In professional sports? Not so much. Oh, you might have a better team, but the other guys aren't outclassed. They're IN your class. They're all professionals. And, this is why I say you can ALWAYS lose a fight in the FCBA. This is the TOP LEVEL of boxin' here. Yeah, you might be better than the other girl, but, they're still good enough to beat you..."
Man In The Hat: "I'm sure you do. You can ALWAYS lose a fight in the FCBA, and that goes DOUBLE for pay-per-view. You're gettin' on there, you're likely in against one of the top talents in the FCBA. So, yeah. We could LOSE both of those fights. But. We can WIN both of those fights, too."
Reporter: "Both are big fights, obviously. Is Winter's fight bigger?"
Cassie: "Why would you think that?"
Pointy: "I was about to ask that question..."
Reporter: "Because, Ariel needs to win big fights...Wiz says so!"
Cassie: "Ariel's beaten Shahi, ScarJo, Portman, Hayden. She's WON big fights."
Reporter: "I'm just REPEATING what WIZ said!"
Man In The Hat: "Here's how I see it. They're both big fights for different reasons...and similar reasons. First, Ariel and Lili are both in the title picture in their respective weights. If Winter can beat a girl like Lowndes, maybe that pushes her into a second shot at the belts. Same with Lili. If she can manage a win over a fighter like Olsen, maybe she gets her first shot at the straps. But, there are other things at stake, too. Chloe's our number one bantam. Everyone knows that. If Lili comes up with a win here? Then she can move into the number two spot in the pecking order, which is VERY important. As for Ariel, well. We HAVE a number one fly, Kristen. But. We NEED a number two fly, and Ariel NEEDS to become that girl. Beat somebody like Lowndes, and she can lock that spot down, at least until Billie and/or Meg come knocking on the door. So, both fights are very big. And, I can't wait to see how our girls handle them."
Tess (grinning): "So, I hear you're heading to the Ice Hotel..."
Man In The Hat: "If Sagra and Tailor fought on MARS, I'd buy tickets to THAT, too. Now. Let's watch some ball, shall we?"
