Our reporter and his blonde companion sit in the Man In The Hat's office at Front Street.
Reporter: "Well, Wiz, tomorrow's the big day..."
Man In The Hat (nodding): "Seven fights we got goin'. Lookin' forward to seein' how it all shakes out. And, of course, to seeing the rest of a stacked pay-per-view."
Tess (smiling): "So, Mr. V had some things to say about Church. And, I think he has a point that she probably wouldn't have been any more successful than Dobrev and Kelly..."
Man In The Hat: 'Mr. V made my point FOR me. By the time Mr. V got Church she was already FOUR YEARS past her first fight. MY point was that, if someone had grabbed Charlotte like we did Kris, right after that first fight..."
Reporter: "Why is that important?"
Man In The Hat: "Why did David Carr fail as an NFL quarterback? Tim Couch is another name. Well. Here's what scouts will tell you. They started on horrible teams with terrible offensive lines. And, what happened is, they got into bad habits as a result of, you know, tryin' ta LIVE. And, some of that stuff, because you need to make quick decisions in that position, gets HARDWIRED and you can't fix it. And, it happens in other sports, too. Get a pitcher shelled enough times, he gets into bad habits..."
Tess: "Do you think that's what happened to Church..."
Man In The Hat: "Not exactly. Charlotte didn't get RUINED by what happened to her in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, but she got set back. And, that may have made all the difference. Here's what NEEDED to happen. Someone needed to grab her right after that first fight, after that first stable dropped her. And, you get her in the ring and you get her doin' things the RIGHT way. And you push her consistently. She doesn't sit two years without a top-level fight and come back against Katy Freakin' Perry. And, before anyone blames ME for that, that fight happened before we signed Katy. But, that's beside the point. The point is, all that development was lost. 2008. 2009. 2010..."
Reporter: "And, that's the point you were making..."
Man In The Hat: "Exactly. What does the 25-year-old Charlotte LOOK like if, rather than having her 21, 22, 23, and 24-year-old seasons wasted, she actually gets in the line up, gets to play, learns, develops. I think that Charlotte looks like a freaking CHAMPION, that's what I think she looks like. I don't think she's sittin' at 7-12 in the FCBA, that's for sure. And, you know what ELSE I don't think? I don't think anyone makes a better Chicken Athena than Chef..."
Tess: "LET'S GO!"
