Our reporter and his blonde companion sit in the Man In The Hat's office at Front Street.
Reporter (laughing): "So, Wiz, does nobody check heights around here?"
Tess: "I can call Cassie RIGHT NOW..."
Man In The Hat (laughing): "Now, Tess, I think that's a good question, and it's got an interestin' answer. We don't bother about height very much."
Tess: "Really?"
Man In The Hat: "Really. And, here's why. Mike Tyson is 5'10". Joe Frazier was 5'10.5". I can make a whole LIST of taller guys who ended up babified on the canvas by Iron Mike and Smokin' Joe. Height is ONE factor in a fight as it speaks to reach, but it's just one. And, good fighters can offset height and reach. Happens in the FCBA every single day. So, no. We aren't worried about it over much."
Tess: "For the first time in a decade, Smackey asked a good question. Who knew?"
Reporter: "HEY!"
Tess: "I might as well ask. What did you think of the rest of the picks?"
Man In The Hat: "I hope you're right, since you picked us to win. I do think you're underestimating Bar. Yes, she's had a bit of a slump, but she's still dangerous. We are not taking her lightly. At ALL. And, here's something ELSE you should never take lightly. Chef's prowess at making his famous stuffed burgers on the grill..."
Tess: "Let's GO!"

HEIGHT has always been a bug-a-boo of mine....since boxing decides which division a fighter is placed in, height "mismatches" can/could be a common occurrence/problem...especially in womens boxing.
Still (I'm relying on ESPN's Sportscenter here) height/weight of athletes is often an area where "creativity" is rewarded. Football players can add an inch or two of height by being measured on a cement floor in their cleats. Weight (as boxing fans know) can quickly (if not always easily) be dropped a day or even an hour before weigh-in.
I'd still like to see FCBA "enforce" (?) more realistic statistics on physical parameters (age, height, weight) since they usually (but not always, even for age) fluctuate yearly or more often.
Be sure to give this post a "thumbs up"!

Regarding the importance of weight ...
Bill Curry was an all-pro center during the 60s with the Baltimore Colts - yes, they will always be the Baltimore Colts. Early 70s he was hanging on with the Cowboys but the game had changed radically. Curry played at about 215-220 and the feeling was an offensive lineman could not play at that weight. Never mind the reality that the guy was still able to play, the scale said he was too small. Dallas line coach was telling Curry he had to retire for his own safety or get a little bigger. Next year, Curry comes in to be weighed in training camp - 235 pounds. Line coach congratulating him, all he needed was to eat more and hit the weight room, etc.
Curry accepted the congratulations, went to a bathroom stall, removed the ten pound weight he had duct taped to each ass cheek, and continued to play competently ... at 215 pounds. And the coach was satisfied because he thought he was bigger.
