TESS VALMORE
Late last night I got a call from my BFF Cassie Scerbo who told me Leelee Sobieski had retired. I told her that couldn’t be right , but she said that Pointy had just told her that. So early this morning I went over to Front Street to see if I could talk to her. I lucked out as she was there and she agreed to talk to me
During our conversation she confirmed that she informed the Wiz that she was retiring. She said she had been considering it for some time and The Wiz was aware of that. I asked why she was retiring now. She said had been fighting in the FCBA for eight years and In Front Street for six. She had won the vast majority of her fights , yet had never been offered a title shot. She said that she didn’t see that was going to change even if she fought another seven years. She said she didn’t see much sense in continuing to fight with no chance at the gold belt. I told her I thought she should reconsider. She said she appreciated that, but the decision had been made and she felt perfectly comfortable with the decision. I asked her what she was going to do and she said the Wiz had offered her a position as trainer and she had accepted as she enjoyed being around the Front Street group.
I changed to subject and asked her if her replacement was involved in the mystery fight on the Asylum card. She said she didn’t know who the mystery fighter was. She said the Britney had been absent from the gym for some time and she suspected that she was training the newcomer off site and whoever she was would probably be a bantam rather than a welter. She said she had no idea who her replacement would be or even if she would be replaced. With Ruah and Kesha moving back down to lightweight, that leaves Front Street with only one welter, Antie Utgaard who will now come under the direction of Leelee
Sobieski’s retirement took the whole stable by surprise. Even Avril was speechless which is something I thought I would never see.
