"She's definitely a girl who should have gotten more fights," says Kat with a nod. "But. She's NOT a girl who's going to be demonstrating anything tonight."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Mercy' by the Dave Matthews Band, and here comes brunette beauty Michelle Borth!"
McCarthy: "Flash in the pan. The old commissioner thought she was hot or something, got her some fights. Then, poof! Disappeared. Not like Mac the Knife, who's been SLAYING women in the FCBA for DECADES!"
Tess: "Truck, send a new headset for Mac. Her head just swelled and broke it again..."
McCarthy: "Shut UP, Walmart!"
O'Dell: "Well, it's New Year's Eve. Lots of people are going to be drunk. So, drink up, boys and drink in Michelle as she's helped off with the robe to reveal a rose pink number that has the crowd buzzing. And, that's 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing' by Scissor Sisters thundering through the arena, and here comes Kat 'The Rack' Dennings!"
Cassie: "Kat coming off a tough loss to Kira Kosarin that may have pushed her into third in the Front Street pecking order at bantam, and she looks like she's ready to start the climb back."
O'Dell: "All business as she climbs into the ring and is helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that curve-hugging black number we've seen before. And, the ladies are about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Kat. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Borth is nothing special, but I will NEVER pick that talentless Campbell clone! Michelle!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Two fights, two split panels. Let's see who's right. Michelle has some reach and she's making use of it early. She's got the jab going, sticking it in Kat's face, creating space with it. Taller brunette wants to box at range, and she's getting those terms in the first round..."
McCarthy: "THIS is how you beat this girl and ALL Campbell Clones! Box! They can't BOX!"
Cassie: "I don't recall YOU beating this 'Campbell Clone'...OR Neve Campbell..."
McCarthy: "I. WAS. ROBBED!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Kat wants to work forward, close, bang inside. Michelle not having it. She's not doing any dancing or circling, but she's moving the feet well, maintaining that distance, getting the geometry she wants. Dennings patient, trying to angle, get to spots, mostly not doing that, though..."
Tess: "Landing one here and there, but that's about it."
O'Dell: "Sure is. We're down to about twenty seconds in the first round, and Michelle's had control from the beginning. The older brunette's making that left hand work for her, and it's been the story of the stanza. There's the bell. Not particularly close. Borth. Who takes the early 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Borth boxing. Dennings looking to angle, get to where she can get off. Does it right there and lands a nice right hand, but Michelle immediately gets the geometry back to the way she wants it, starts working off that jab again. This is good stuff from Borth, ladies..."
Cassie: "No question about it."
O'Dell: "Dennings slipping forward now, working some body. Borth banging with. Good right hand by Michelle and KAT WITH A RIGHT HOOK THAT HURT BORTH! Michelle wobbles and covers up and SPLASHES TO HER BACK AFTER A BOOMING RIGHT UPPERCUT FROM DENNINGS!"
McCarthy: "GET UP! GET UP!"
O'Dell: "Dennings to a neutral corner. Borth wide eyed, looking up at the referee as he counts down at her. Three. Four. Five. Six. Michelle rolling to her right side. Seven. Eight. Rolls to her belly at Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Borth nowhere close to beating the count and it's OVER! And your winner by KO2 is Kat 'The Rack' Dennings!"
Tess: "And, before Mac says anything, there was nothing lucky about it!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Kat Dennings, and, Kat, you weren't taking any prisoners in there..."
Kat (nodding): "Well, she can box, no question, and I wasn't trying to go to the cards or anything with her. When I got a chance to get her, I was TAKING it."
O'Dell: "It's been a pretty good year for you, 6-1..."
Kat (nodding): "Yeah, but the one bothered me for awhile. But, time to put that behind me and work back into the title picture in 2021."
