26 SEPTEMBER 2000 HEATHER LOCKLEAR VS KARI WUHRER
Posted by Simguy 26-Sep-00 22:00:51
“MIDWEEK MAYHEM”
Before: Non televised bout, but a great gate—Locklear one of those marketable veterans who’s becoming a soft touch—Wuhrer cynically targeting the blonde for a much needed win, preparatory to a slight ove down to 110. :I learned in the Charisma fight that even though she’s a mediocre bantam—she’s got bantam power.” Explains Kari in pre-fight. “I think I can be bigger at fly and challenge right away.”
Wuhrer in black push, black nylon jogging shorts, black shoes and globes, shoulder length curls—Heather in pale blue cotton camisole, grey cotton panties white shoes and gloves, hair clipped back.
R1: Kari out looking to bully, but Heather gambling early, catches the brunette a clouting wide right on the ear that has Kari stumbling sideways. Great first minute for Locklear as she batters Wuhrer with free swinging lefts and rights. Wuhrer taking better as the round progresses and by the end she’s the strongest girl, trading licks with Heather and backing the blonde up. Round to Locklear, but Wuhrer looked fresher at the bell.
R2: Kari keeping he tempo high, action wild, wisely using up the blonde’s reserves in a series of reckless exchanges all around the ring. Locklear stiff on her legs, but able to rock back and forth with her punching rhythm—Wuhrer coming on late to pound out a close round.
R3: Shutout Heather Locklear, Heather seeking out to beat Kari in punches—blonde with chin right out there, but she’s slapping and clouting wide to Kari’s jaw, pre-empting Wuhrer’s punches. Kari getting tagged but showing no respect, stands right in front, letting Heather get off and push her around. Kari making Heather fight, taking a good punch, but giving up points as the blonde nods her head at the bell.
R4: First signs of fatigue as Locklear’s punches start to push and slap—blonde standing swiftly and not discouraging Wuhrer in the slightest. Kari’s pressure finally pays off as she jolts Heather a hard right cross, reloads ad bends into another right hand high on the head that puts the blonde wobbling to her haunches. Locklear up, but saddened and Kari puts it to her, loading up on plowing lefts and rights to batter Heather to the bell.
R5: Kari’s got control—she settles down and starts to pick her opponent apart. Sharp punching straight from the shoulders, pounding away at Heather’s crowsfeet—Locklear holding her gloves habitually low, but lacking the reflexes at this point to make Wuhrer miss. Pinpoint steo and oop from Kari does damage—swelling begins around Heathers baby blues.
R6: Shutout Kari Wuhrer, Staying on the eyes—Kari[s hands too quick, finding face before Heather can react—blonde starts to stagger aimlessly as she takes punches, Locklear’s mouth pouting, breathing hard—eyes swelling to slits after 3 minutes of hard, accurate punching from a cruel, relentless Kari this round. Heather falling in to clinch fir breaks—whispers “Go easy” at one point.
R7: Shutout Kari Wuhrer. More banging punishment to tragically closed eyes, and Wuhrer is going to the body with slinging right hands to buckle Heather’s legs repeatedly with unexpected shots. Locklear a total wreck, stumbling to the wrong corner at the break—hard hearted Kari glaring with flinty eyes after the bell.
R8: Heather ropeside much of the round, just pushing her arms straight out as she braces her legs wide. Wuhrer patient, devastating, steering right round punches to the body, shifting her hips and sinking in the hook to Heather’s wide open right flank. Locklear going out on her feet, but the predictability of the punching prevents her from being jarred into unconsciousness—her own anticipation enough to keep her around. Wuhrer bodying up in the final minute to catch her breath, cinching up under Heather’s thin arms and bearing her heavily into the ropes.
R9: Wuhrer walking Heather down, bouncing her head back with jabs as Locklear sags to the ropes. Kari loading up now, getting her weight behind every hook to the ribs, or clouting right hand on the eye. Locklear bludgeoned to her knees from behind the sheer accumulation, gets up despite cries from ringside to stop the fight. Dazed, reeling against the ropes, hands at her belly--Heather helpless. Kari squares up and unleashes heartless lefts and rights, banging Locklear into oblivion and giving the ref all he needs to stop this thing. TKO9—a smoldering Kari Wuhrer turns her back on a devastated Heather Locklear.
After: Sickening beating another in a long string of beat downs for the once proud blonde icon. Locklear battered beyond recognition, eyes shut tight, cheeks all distorted, lips busted up—she is guided carefully from the ring by a concerned corner as Wuhrer struts it up in the ring. Kari is philosophical about the mauling. “You hang around long enough, it’s going to happen. I needed to go hard on Heather—there was a lot of pressure on me to stop her. She knew it, she didn’t want to give it up to me, but she couldn’t hurt me. Hopefully she’ll step aside now. I mean, she’s got nothing left to prove.”

Hunt just huddled over, taking bombs, crumbles to her knees as the ref pushes Dana back. And it’s OVER! Helen Hunt tragically hurt, cant get up as Delany pumps her fist in triumph—KO4 Dana Delany.
After: Delany pounding out a very satisfying win over an old rival—Hunt obviously not in fighting shape despite staying in the gym during hiatus. As good as she is, Helen’s got some ok to do to catch up with Dana and other veterans who’ve stayed busy.

Mel completely fearless, able to turn her body into big rght hands or sweeping left hooks, and land at will—Bell crumbling as she fights to retain consciousness in this disasterous round. Bell just getting ragdolled, soaking uo combinations mid ring, being chased along the ropes with slobberknocking rights or lets, brunette doesn’t know whether to cover up, clinch or run as she’s getting tagged no matter what she does, Incredibly at the bell, Cat finishes on her feet, blood streaming from her nose, eye glassy and unfocused—Mel turns her around to point at her corner and slaps her butt to send her on her way a cutting laugh. Where’s the respect?
R4: Cat showing that remarkable resilience, actually comes out on her toes this round despite the punishment, showing Melinda a ramming jab and enough movement t keep the blonde outside. 1 OCTOBER 2000 JENNIE GARTH VS KELLY HU
Posted by Simguy. Sunday, 01-Oct-00 11;23:38
Before: Masterful mind games played by Jenny. First she nixes rematch stating “this is CELEBRITY boxing—Kelly Hu really only famous for getting dusted by me and that’s not good enough.” Then, she held negotiations up while she waited for a phantom offer from Carmen Electra. THEN she simply held out for more money--getting it when Kelly overruled her promoters and told them to get Garth in the ring. Come fight night, there’s no question who’s won the psychological war going in—Kelly is angry, overanxious and aching for revenge. Jenny in white sports bra, pale blue Adidas terrycloth trunks, slick ponytail. Kelly in red athletic bikini, slick ponytail.
R1: Vintage Kelly Hu assault—a variety of looks and stances, slashing attacks from outside, sudden lead right hands, in and out movement. Garth totally defensive, but she;s getting tagged as Hu’s hand speed sets the pace. Late in the round, Jenny bobbing and turning her shoulder to slip, gets caught with the lead right, then dropped as Kelly double pumps the right onto Jenny’s chin. Garth up quickly—it was the surprise and speed more than the force that did the job—Hu glaring fiercely at the bell.
R2,3,4: Kelly continues to set the tempo, quick slashing punches, retreating with side to side torso movement to make Jenny miss, then switching back to offense in a heartbeat. Garth getting shined up, but she’s creating a iche she can work in. Despite losing each round, Garth isn’t getting hurt, and she’s scoring the odd counter right hand to the eye or ribcage, clinching opportunistically to break Hu’s rhythm. As in the first fight, Jenny’s behind on points, but surviving, staying around hopefully to find that opening to hurt Hu.
R5: Jenny with her right hand at her chin, left low, steps left behind a well timed jab that catches Hu coming in—Kelly frustrated—and midway through, Garth taps the left, comes over the top with a cracking right hand hard off the jaw of Hu, putting wobble in Asian trunks and turning the tide. Hu hurt, covers up, stands helplessly in front of Jenny and lets the solid blonde work—thudding lefts and rights to the ribs and arms open Hu up for a few tight left hooks on the teeth as she tries to protect her head. Garth takes her first round, leaving Hu shaking at the bell.
R6: Two way warfare breaks out—Kelly launching flashy lead right/left hook attacks—Garth waiting for it, rolling with the speed and coming back with that straight right hand from her cheeks to Kelly’s chin. Late in the round, Kelly with that double pumping lead right has Garth stumbling again, and the final seconds see Hu display that stunning hand speed, bathing Jen in a dozen blurring punches at the bell. Gath woozy—Hu going chest to chest to make eye contact as the ref intervenes.
R7: Gath waging war, but it’s a mistake. Jenny bravely standing in, rolling with Kelly’s right hand and trying to counter, but Hu never in one place for long, hopping to the left or right to free up her slashing combinations. Late in the round, Hu with a spectacular left hook lick across the stomach/double left hook across the lips, leaves Garth momentarily helpless, staring blankly at the ropes at the bell. Hu stamping her foot at the missed opportunity as Garth was there for the taking.
R8: Nice recovery for Jenny and she takes it to Kelly with sharp, straight punching. Pounding straight right hands to the stomach, Jenny has Kelly more or less flat footed, and the blonde able to work off the body, clouting the brunette about her ears with curling strokes, stepping over to turn Kelly mid ring, At the midway point, Jenny bangs away upstairs with a hard left hook/straight right/left hook that breaks Kelly down, sending her staggering backwards to the ropes, Shutout Garth—she beats Hu like a three minute omelet this round.
R9: Bit of an uprising—Hu still sluggish from the punishment last round, stands toe to toe and Garth able to put her punches together carves out another round. Jenny just touching Kelly with everything, leaning in forehead to forehead, hoisting the eft uppercut into the bely or breasts, chopping wide to the ear with the right hand—Hu grimly hanging in and slugging back with less authority.
R10: More nose to nose action, but Hu uptempos to eave Garth behind this round. Even exchanges give way to Kelly’s dominance in the final minute—Jenny just covering up, content to go the distance, giving Hu belly an ribs to hack away at in close, Bell sounds to Kelly’s obvious dis-satisfaction—Jenny the loser by a wide margin raises her gloves in mock victory ti rub in her survival, UD10 Kelly Hu.
After: Kelly outclasses Jenny, but Garth’s guile makes it competitive. Both girls puffy, shiny faces in the aftermath—Hu very hard on herself for not destroying the blonde. Post fight cattiness continues, with Jenny rating Hu very low in terms of the many opponents she’s had, just to spite her. Still, Hu’s back on track, putting the blonde behind her and looking to get back in contention.
