BEFORE: Selena Gomez stopped Hayley Orrantia in five earlier this year but several pundits believe the Odds & Ends actually found a supreme bantam prospect in Samara Weaving. Most of the Australian contenders occupy the two heaviest division but Samara kinda made people forget about compatriot Claire Holt as the Down Under train keeps steaming along the Odds & Ends gym.
"I hear a lot of noise about Samara but I don't know if she's tough enough to be a player!", Selena tells Erin Andrews with a smirk on her face, "She beat Kira Kosarin in JMD and that's awesome but maybe that makes her a little arrogant tonight? No way that Vegas line is real? I'm the underdog? Like really? That's sooo disrespectful!"
"Oh yeah, when you beat Kira Kosarin you are the new player in the game! I have no idea why Selena sounds so upset!", Samara strikes a confident pose and she's got every right to feel like she's the new Odds & Ends money girl, "I've come a long way to prove my worth and no former Disney Princess will take that away! Selena is a top line contender in name only! She's kinda soft in the gut and I'm gonna have a field day punching her into a pulp tonight! Wish me luck!" (winks).
Selena Gomez wears a leopard print bikini top, black hotpants & red gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. Samara Weaving wears a green bikini set & golden gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Samara smacks Selena straight up the middle and triggers a hectic back & forth exchange before a looping cross on the nose fades the brunette backwards. Samara steps right up to deliver more head-hunting pressure and leaves Gomez dancing around on her toes in avoidance. But it's all about the Aussie blonde from this point as her swarming approach snuffs Selena out and drops her butt-in-ropes with little room to spare. Selena tries to outbox the Aussie in the phone booth but gets spun to the side and fails to fire back when the blonde lands more crisp punches straight into her face during the final stretch!
Round 2:
Selena ups the tempo of her attacks and matches the blonde swarmer during the opening minute before blasting her on the ribs with a well-timed switch downstairs. She camps inside Weaving's midsection thereafter and continues to pick the Aussie out until Samara has to clinch her to catch a breather. However Selena quickly finds her range in the phone booth and she's the one landing all the nasty shots in the gut which drives the blonde backwards and has her seeking more clinching stalemate come the final minute.
Round 3:
More of the same in the third, Selena drills the blonde's midriff and neutralizes the swarming danger as Samara struggles to embrace the heat downstairs. She catches a lucky break when both girls clash heads but eats an uppercut stunner moments later to drop back onto the ropes. Selena leaps after her and cashes in with a left hook on the jaw which slumps the blonde behind a desperate earmuff and suddenly Gomez piles more pressure up the middle to dissect that high-guard and rock Weaving's head back & forth until the bell finally stops her charge.
Round 4:
Samara roars back into a slugging contention and triggers another hectic head-hunting dispute with Selena bashing away in equal fury to defy the Vegas pre-fight odds. She clips the blonde's chin several times but fails to back her opponent into a hole this time before Weaving slams her on the nose and assumes the swarming command in the middle of the ring again. Both girls give each other no quarter whatsoever and Gomez gets thumped on the lips too often for comfort; she wobbles to the side and has to rely on her footwork skills to avoid more trouble as Samara keeps firing pesky shots between her mitts regardless until she finally traps her on the ropes where she duly cleans out the exposed ribcage to win the round outright.
Round 5:
Back & forth we go again and Selena gets vocal when she drives trough the blonde's high guard but Samara stands tall and pays the brunette back with a sudden jug-busting double. Ugh! Selena spins to the side but gets sucked by the uppercut quick sands and eats more brutal punches on her boobs before Weaving NAILS her with a wicked shot on the right ear. Ugh! Gomez slumps into spasms and sags on the ropes as the Aussie tourist lets it rip... Samara cranks up the uppercut volume and tears into the brunette's chin with several crisp strikes... Selena tries to clinch her but gets shoved back and bounces off into a scything cross on the nose THAT DROPS HER FOR THE COUNT just before the bell! Uh-oh!! "Take that you filthy underdog!", Samara gloats over her opponent who is left down on her knees and looking shaky. Selena shakes off the knockdown daze at eight and gets up just as the clock expires but she looks very vulnerable right now and the writing is truly on the wall according to several pundits!
Round 6:
Samara believes she's one good drive away from putting Selena away so she races clear to finish the job off.... and... and... she walks into a left hook on the jaw that makes her gurgle in shock more than anything else! Gomez looks hurt but she finds a rare combo upstairs and clocks the stunned Aussie on the ear before driving one up her gut. Ugh! Samara folds forward and bounces off the brunette's shoulder. She fails to regain her footing in time and eats a piercing shot on the solar plexus before Gomez screams out as she carries through to BLAST a vicious uppercut on the jaw!!! WEAVING GOES DOWN!!! The Aussie tourist almost does a back flip as she crashes down on the boards and it's a disaster for the betting favorite here! Samara bounced her head pretty hard and she rolls down on her left side looking completely crippled! Uh-oh!!! Ref issues a quick count and suddenly the blonde realizes she has to battle back upright... but gravity takes over and dizziness sets in to leave Weaving sitting down and staring at the canvas in utmost disbelief... NINE... TEN... YER OUT!!! KO6 Selena Gomez in come-from-behind fashion!!!
AFTER: Selena screams out in joy and makes some gestures aimed at the Odds & Ends corner before approaching the stunned blonde. Samara refuses to accept the defeat and tackles the brunette in proper rugby fashion... she wraps her arms around Selena's knees and drives her to the ground!!! Down goes Gomez flat on her back... Uh-oh!!! She bumped her head pretty rough as Samara tries to breast-smother her for a good measure before the security crew crowds the ring and pulls the Aussie off her opponent. LCA coach Eva Mendes grabs a handful of Samara's blonde hair as well and slaps her in the face before she gets pulled away by Claudia Schiffer as this fight ends on a sour note with Samara pleading revenge on the Lionesses. She has every right to be upset over this result since this is one that truly got away from the Aussie stunner!
