BEFORE:
Katheryn Winnick is set to face off against up-and-coming rising star of the consortium tonight, with Naomi Scott taking no prisoners in her last couple of fights with the likes of Emily Ratajkowski and Troian Bellisario being put away in eight rounds. And tonight’s no exception as the two women enter the press hall smiling and waving, Katheryn dressed in a formal white office blouse and short black mini-shirt whilst Scott is looking ravishing in a dark blue tube dress.
Winnick gets the first turn at the mic, responding to a reporter’s question about how she’s feeling as she goes into this fight:
"I'm feeling pretty great about my chances tonight. Not sure why some people are saying it would be an upset if I win....talk about no respect. My record speaks for itself. Yes she's much younger and has been on a roll this year....but if there's anyone who can stop her it's me. If I win tonight I might convince Bella to give me a shot at the title, so....I'm gonna go all out Naomi. Sorry not exactly sorry!"
Scott is slightly cordial but she has her own mean-streak attached to her dangerous reputation. Her long painted fingernails curl around the base of the microphone as she responds in kind:
“I’m sorry - are you already talking about title plans without my consent? You have to get through me first, you know? I respect everything Winnick has done, but there’s no doubt in everyone’s mind that she’s getting a little rough around the ages. Pretty soon, she’ll be fighting in Cougar bouts, I’d imagine, whilst I’ll be the one hoisting the title belt one day. You don’t have to be sorry, love. I ain’t apologising either for knocking you out tonight.”
Ladies size each up at the podium, Kat’s 5’4” to Naomi’s two inches taller. Girls are similar in build though and both will be relying on their power swings to get the job done. Later, in the arena proper, Kat’s entrance is loud and to-the-point, the Canadian blonde striding out onto stage in her trademark black and white sports bra and tights, raising a steady hand to acknowledge the cheers of the crowd. Naomi’s not to be outdone, appearing later on to pumping rock music as she waltzes out from the curtains in a dark purple bikini top, black fighting trunks and black gloves.
In the ring, HERE we go with a much anticipated Bantamweight clash of prospective champions! Referee signals for the starting bell!
ROUND 1:
Nothing special to start off with as girls get into their usual defensive stances. Winnick has always been a slow builder as she starts the fight off with her right jab aimed at the head, then slowly throws more and more combos forward. Naomi keeps calm, however, dealing with the blonde's power by actually leaning in to try and get herself hit on her arms, the HISC starlet testing her opponent's power but also taking a big risk to get herself blown off her feet early. But she’s watched Kat’s tapes and knows the Doll won’t fly into overdrive till much later. This allows Naomi to expertly counter with short, snappy hooks that graze Winnick’s cheek whenever she jabs into her arms. Kat gets outplayed like this for the last minute, grunting as she takes return fire to her face and arms in the face of this unusual aggression shown by her adversary. The round ends in Naomi’s favour as a result, with Winnick shaking her head on her way back to her corner.
ROUND 2:
Kat roars forward all of sudden! If Naomi wants to play the close-quarters game, so be it! Girls stand and trade in the center, bashing gloves straight into the arms and side of the head, knocking each other silly as Kat unleashes her full power. Naomi perhaps now regretting ever toying with the blonde as she gets tossed left and right from early hooks, then huddles up and makes a run for it. Kat staying calm and calculated, chasing after her with more jabs and straight hands to her body and arms, relentless headhunting as she pushes the Consortium girl around the ring. Naomi only later poking her jab back, tentative reset of fortunes as the Doll retakes lost ground, throws the fate of this contest back into the air!
ROUND 3:
Both girls possess the power to throw each other down to the ground, so it’s only a matter of who’s the more daring of the pair. Naomi moves fast and early, defending much better as she avoids Kat’s own advance. Katheryn’s still the aggressor here, albeit a little more methodical as she stalks forward and punishes Scott to the arms and body with long, strapping combos. Naomi unfazed, however, her guard firm and holding until the mid-round when she breaks ranks and all of a sudden socks Katheryn in the face with a counter-straight hand that zooms in outta nowhere. Ouch! Kat’s cheek disappears in leather for a brief moment, before another one-two lightning jabs batter her nose - she’s forced to retreat and cover up! Naomi with that rare combination of speed and power and poise as she turns the tables on the Doll, now running after a dazed blonde and returning body attacks to the bell.
ROUND 4:
More close-quarters fighting erupts as the two ladies advance on each other at the same time - too late to back down now as they SWING on reflex! BLAM goes the first hook into Katheryn’s head but the Doll’s already mid-swing as she catches Naomi back on the side of her face! Double trouble here as they eventually clinch up, exchanging brief low shots to the tummy before holding each other close with arms around the neck to catch their breaths. Referee soon separates the fighters and orders them to continue bashing each other silly. Kat obliges first, immediately flies back into Mach IV as she slams a right cross in between the arms, grazing Naomi on the chin and definitely dazing her backwards. Scott left on the defensive for the last minute, trying to control Kat with her long jab but still losing the round overall as she’s pushed around.
ROUND 5:
Another bitter brawl between these contenders as Naomi tries to rush in for a counterattack. One-two-hook combo slams into Kat’s forearms and the Doll having none of it, bashes her own return uppercut into the base of Naomi’s arms, trying to catch her off-guard and score a surprise knockdown. But Scott manages to weave just in time to avoid, and the two girls end up clinched again as they swerve in too close for comfort, wrestling each other backwards and into the ropes for more leverage and punishment. Kat’s eyes widen as she’s the one being driven back in steps, her back hitting the ropes and then a groan uttered from her lips as Naomi drills a fist into her tummy. But the Doll quickly roars outwards, reverses their positions and swipes her own fist on the HISC starlet’s belly once, twice drawing sharp gasps from Naomi’s lips. Round ends in a draw when the bell rings and the referee has to pull these two vixens apart.
ROUND 6:
More cautious approach this round as Naomi stays at a distance, parts of her body already reddened from that earlier abuse and not wanting a repeat performance. She stays at a distance, and Kat herself is moving likewise, covering her head and only jabbing occasionally in the opening seconds. But all of a sudden, the Doll accelerates, lands a stiff cross into Naomi’s arms when eher opponent got into fortuitous range, and then quickly switches gears to her big hooks, assuming Scott is pinned down and panicked, ready for the taking. Not the case, however, as Scott absorbs the blows with barely a grunt from her lips, quickly slips to one side and BANGS her own uppercut to the base of the blonde’s chin like a calculated marksman hitting her target! OUCH! Kat’s seeing stars as her head’s driven upwards outta nowhere, and-before she can recover and counter, another fist snaps into the base of her jaw! Winnick’s head getting BATTERED as a third hook SMASHES into her face, sending the older woman CRUSHING DOWN to the canvas with a thud!! What a spectacular KNOCKDOWN for Naomi Scott! Glassy eyed Kat just laid out on the mat looking shell-shocked! Naomi raises both arms, a tired smile on her face as she backs off to a neutral corner. Winnick groaning, rolling to her back and laying spread-eagled on the mat starring at the arena ceiling as the ref begins to count her out. 3…4….She tries to lift her head from the canvas, but fails multiple times! Referee gives her the benefit of the full 10-count but Katheryn is clearly finished - still helplessly plastered to the canvas by the time the ref reaches 10 - it’s OVER!!
Official Decision: Naomi Scott defeats Katheryn Winnick via KO6!
AFTER:
Proud moment for Scott as she raises her arms and smiles, parading around Katheryn’s fallen body and blowing kisses to the crowds. She’s done another impossible feat here today, extending her winning streak to four by putting away a worthy challenger on her way to Bella Thorne's throne. Whoever wins the Bantam title fight tonight, one can be sure that Scott will be knocking on her door pretty soon.
Kat is still looking very groggy as she’s tended to by medics and Carmen Electra, who looks both crestfallen and concerned at her girl’s bitter loss tonight. Still, if we know Winnick, this stumbling block ain’t going to stop her - she’s defied the odds thrown at her thus far and always emerged stronger and more determined.
“What a fight!” Naomi laughs to reporters later. “Kat thought she had me multiple times. But I’ve studied her. 100%. I knew all her tricks and had some tricks of my own. I’m glad it worked, she’s a dangerous opponent…but I got her - I got her goooood.” The victorious brunette chuckles.
