This evening we come to you from the specially set up ring featuring the Hallmark Gold Crown logo at its center. Tonight Rachael Leigh Cook will be inside with Kellie Martin.
Cook has boxed in the FCBA before with a record of 17-27 and 1. She has been boxing away independently she says in the press.
Martin also speaks of her boxing away from the mainstay FCBA. “IFCB anyone remember? I have been boxing there for some time now. Hallmark has seen some of my bouts and I am glad to be boxing for the Hallmark people.”
Soon both boxers were coming to the ring at the Hallmark area. The ring has blue canvas with the Hallmark Gold Crown logo on it.
Rachael came out in a black robe with the gold Hallmark crown on it. Once between the ropes, she took it off. Cook wore black trunks and white top with white boots and gloves.
Kellie now came to the ring in a dark blue robe also with the hold Hallmark crown on it. As she was in her corner, she removed her robe. Martin wore dark blue trunks and light blue top. She had on dark blue gloves and boots.
Acting as referee for this fight is actress Deidre Hall, who although best known for her daytime serial work (DAYS OF OUR LIVES) she has credits with Hallmark and is respected figure. Deidre proves an efficient official, getting through the ring instructions and dispatching the fighters to their corners. Soon after, the bell rings.
Round 1 & 2:
This Hallmark bout opened with both boxers winning widely one round a piece. The surprising Kellie surprised the audience and Rachael with her punching. Martin came with heavy hooks to Cook’s belly and a mean right uppercut that smashed her chin. Rachael had to back away or clinch as she was totally caught by Kellie’s surprising skill. Martin took the first round widely.
The second round saw Rachael shuffle her feet and dodge Kellie’s punches which were aimed at her face. A couple of punches slip past Cook’s high guard but Martin is spending a lot of energy.
Before the second minute of the round began, Rachael hit Martin with two uppercuts to Kellie’s chin. Those moved her back and Cook followed up with a couple straight punches to her belly. Rachael then went to Martin with some big punches of her own. Cook won the second round widely.
Round 3:
After getting pounded by Rachael in the previous round, Kellie came out of her corner looking to get her punches into Cook first. Rachael had the same fight plan and an immediate fire fight broke out as the round went into the first minute. Each boxer seemed to be swinging for the knockout and the bodies and faces of both soon were showing the signs of those punches. Cook is the one who backs out and goes to circle Kellie. Martin shows a slight smile as she goes to circle as well. But that doesn’t last long as Rachael nails her with a straight right to her face. Now Martin is backing up and the two are soon tangled up in a clinch. Hall gets them apart and calls for the bout to continue. The round ends with a short exchange between the two. Deidre jumps in and sends the two back to their corner. It is a close round but won by Kellie Martin.
Round 4:
The fourth round opened with both boxers on their toes as the bell rang. Martin again went swinging away but Cook was dodging and weaving to avoid those big punches. Fans could see that Kellie was slower now than she had been before. Her punches now seemed to come at Rachael not as fast. Cook hot back to back jabs at Martin’s face and her gloves were slow to raise and block them. Rachel then uses a right cross and left hook combination that hits Martin harder. Kellie’s gloves rise up but Cook sends two straight punches to her belly. Rachel hits two more hooks and MARTIN GOES DOWN! Deidre Hall comes in and Cook moves to a neutral corner. Hall begins the count as by the count of 8 she is on her knees rubbing her gut. But she is still there when the 10 is reached. KO 4 – Rachael Leigh Cook.
After:
Cook soaks in the cheers as she comes out of the neutral corner. She does pose before going to Deidre in the middle of the ring.
There Hall makes the announcement and raises Rachael’s right glove in the air. More cheers now for Cook as she stands there feeling her victory wash over her.
Kellie is in her corner and being worked on. She is taken to her locker room as Cook celebrates.
