BEFORE:
"Glad to finally get a shot here," says Olivia with a smile. "And, luckily, I don't come in against a girl with tons of experience. So, tonight I'll get my first FCBA win and prove I belong."
"Nice to see she's so confident," says Sophie with a smile of her own. "We'll see how long that lasts."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Autumn Term' by One Direction..."
McCarthy: "This music just gets WORSE..."
O'Dell: "And, coming down to the ring is the star of that video, the lovely Olivia Cooke!"
Tess: "Cooke's had a nice on-screen career. Had a run in 'Bates Motel' and done several movies..."
McCarthy: "Thank you, Gene Ebert..."
Cassie: "Not worth it, Tess..."
McCarthy: "What ARE you two talking about?"
O'Dell (sighing): "Cooke into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a white number and a body that's clearly been trained to a peak for this bout. And, that's 'Hotter Than Hell' by Dua Lipa you hear behind us, but that's not Dua coming to the ring, it's one of the newest members of Front Street Boxing, 'Sultry' Sophie Mudd!"
Tess: "And, as Olivia pointed out in the pre-fight, Mudd has just TWO FCBA fights of her own, so not a lot of experience in this one."
O'Dell: "Sophie into the ring and helped off with the robe. And, the crowd showing PLENTY of appreciation for that Egyptian blue number she's wearing...or, more likely, the WAY she's wearing it..."
McCarthy: "Overrated. Maybe I should go up there..."
O'Dell: "How about staying right here, since the ladies are about ready and it's time for some picks. Tess likes Sophie. Mac?"
McCarthy: "NO FCBA wins. Mudd."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Three in a row. And, the first starts with Sophie applying pressure and Olivia looking to box. Cooke circling, jabbing, fouling the sights, not allowing Mudd to close and bang, and that's clearly what Sophie wants to do here. Instead, she's trying to get to spots and it's not happening early."
McCarthy: "This kid needs to realize this isn't JMD. She's going to have to BOX in there, not just slop power punches..."
O'Dell: "At the moment, the girl doing the boxing is Olivia Cooke, who's come in here with a good fight plan, and, at the moment, is executing it very, very well. She's getting the distance she wants with the jab and the feet and she's dropping in enough rights to maintain it..."
Cassie: "And it's causing Mudd problems."
O'Dell: "Certainly is. Down the stretch we go, and it's been a great round for Olivia Cooke, who's hit the ground running in her FCBA debut. Mudd looking a little frustrated as we approach the bell. Didn't get much done in the first, and now it's over. And it goes to Cooke, wide."
Tess: "And, Olivia takes the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second beginning the way the first ended. Mudd trying to close, get physical, but Cooke having none of it. Instead, the Brit boxing extremely well for a girl in her initial FCBA appearace. She's continuing to slow Sophie with that jab, setting her up for right hands..."
Tess: "Mudd's got to make some adjustments here. She's getting taken to the woodshed."
O'Dell: "No doubt about that. Can't seem to get out of neutral at the moment. Every forward step is stopped by that jab, and Cooke then either follows or moves and resets for a replay. Younger brunette getting more and more frustrated as this round goes on, Mac..."
McCarthy: "And, that IDIOT Campbell ought to be HELPING her, but she's CLUELESS..."
O'Dell: "Twenty seconds to go in another excellent round for Olivia Cooke. Older brunette putting on a clinic right here and opening some eyes. We've seen a lot of changes to rosters in the first month of the year, but Cooke making a case for catching on somewhere as the bell rings and she's taken her second straight round wide."
Cassie: "20-18, Cooke after two."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins with more boxing from Cooke. Mudd looking to close, she's moving the feet more now, angling, not just walking forward, and it's making a difference. Sophie landing punches in combination for the first time this evening, but she's still not able to close and bang like she'd like..."
Cassie: "Olivia doing a good job of maintaining distance, getting it back quickly when she doesn't have it."
O'Dell: "Mudd patient, working the feet, getting to spots now and getting off with hard, accurate shot. Cooke keeping the exchanges short, jabbing, using footwork to get back to the distances she wants. Game of geometry being played right now and, while Sophie's doing better at it, Olivia still winning."
Tess: "And, she's about to have that dreaded 30-27 lead."
O'Dell: "Just might. We're down under twenty to go in the third. GOOD exchange there, with both fighters landing hard shot. Cooke quickly working away back to range, getting back to the left jab. Five seconds left, and Olivia will jab the round away. There's the bell. Closer, but still Cooke."
McCarthy: "And, Walmart is finally right about something. Olivia's up 30-27."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Fourth begins with more of the same. Cooke wants space to box, Mudd wants to get into her grill. Olivia again showing the slicks. Sophie patiently working forward and LANDING A BIG RIGHT HAND! Mudd shakes Cooke with that right hook and NOW Sophie's going to get physical..."
Tess: "That shot was NOT clean, but it did plenty of damage. This girl can HIT."
O'Dell: "Seems to be the case. And, she's doing some more hitting right now, as she hammers away at the wobbly Cooke. Olivia giving ground, covering up, trying to slow down the offensive with some jabs, but Mudd's all over her, driving her into the ropes and going body..."
Cassie: "Neve already having an influence..."
McCarthy: "STOP trying to PRETEND Campbell can train fighters, Scabbo!"
O'Dell: "Sophie digging at the ribs and midsection, working up, then right back down. Cooke tying up, hanging on, getting a break. Mudd breaks clean but is right back after Olivia, hammering away with both hands, looking to find the 'off' switch. Not going to do it. There's the bell. Sophie. Wide."
Tess: "But, Cooke still up 39-37."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Mudd pressing the advantage early. She's giving it to Cooke with both hands. Olivia moving better, but it's not having an effect. Sophie's got her on the back foot and she's lining her up for those big right hands. Older brunette getting an absolute PASTING right now, Mac..."
McCarthy: "Got to get the jab going again and keep this kid off..."
O'Dell: "That would be a good idea, but, right now, it's not happening. Sophie is ON. On Cooke, backing her up, working her to the ropes, and then bringing on the artillery. She's hammering away with Olivia in a high guard. Cooke being buffeted by shots banging off her gloves."
Tess: "Rolling with, trying to slip, but stuff is getting through..."
O'Dell: "Sure is. Ref looking in there. Just making sure. Cooke doesn't look hurt, she's just being suppressed right now. She can't get anything going and is just trying to survive this onslaught. Ten seconds left. Mudd digging body and she'll do that right to the bell. Shutout, Sophie."
Cassie: "And, Mudd's cut the lead to 48-47."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Mudd walking forward behind the left jab, backing up Cooke. Olivia trying desperately to get off square and get back to boxing, but she can't do it. Instead, the younger brunette's got the range and she's firing away with the big guns. Cooke backing, covering under suppressive fire..."
Cassie: "Anyone who wonders why Uncle Wiz signed this girl...THIS is why."
O'Dell: "It's impressive stuff at the moment. Mudd just thumping away at Cooke. Olivia doing well to stay off the ropes as Sophie's offensive backs her up again and again. GOOD right hand counter Olivia and MUDD DROPS HER WITH A RIGHT HAND! Oh, what a SHOT!"
Tess: "My BFF can start singing now..."
McCarthy: "NO SINGING!"
O'Dell: "Mudd to a neutral corner. Cooke down on her right side not moving at all. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. There's no reaction from Olivia, who has the eyes shut tight. Six. Seven. Eight. All academic. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is 'Sultry' Sophie Mudd!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Sophie Mudd, and, Sophie, slow start tonight..."
Sophie (nodding): "Yeah, just a little too anxious to get my offense going. She's a good boxer and I was having problems. Neve told me to settle down. Work the fight plan. I did. And, you saw what happened."
Tess (smiling): "Word coming in is that you have a LOT of power for this division. Sure looked like it..."
Sophie (grinning): "Let's just say, if I hit them, they STAY hit."
"Glad to finally get a shot here," says Olivia with a smile. "And, luckily, I don't come in against a girl with tons of experience. So, tonight I'll get my first FCBA win and prove I belong."
