Erin Gray vs. Catherine Bach
Circa 1980
This bout was between two new stars of the television season, Catherine Bach from Dukes Of Hazzard and Erin Gray from Buck Rogers In The 25th Century.
The fight was at a medium sized arena in Los Angeles. And it was swiftly packed by fight fans.
Both women were quite prepared for the bout. Erin had been boxing on the model circuit for years. Catherine was no stranger to the ring as she had been working in Hollywood for some time before. Rumors were circulating that she had been sparring with partners on the set of Hazzard.
Gray and Bach also had some sizzle reels to show before the bout. Both certainly lived up to that name.
Catherine arrives in the ring wearing a red two piece bikini with red gloves.
Erin comes inside the ropes wearing a strapless black and white bikini with black gloves.
Round 1&2: The two boxers split the first 2 rounds but widely. Erin took the first thanks to her stick and move strategy. Her feet and body movements prevented Catherine from coming right at her. In the 2nd, Catherine caught onto Erin’s plan and beat her to the punch literally. Bach showed some hard hooks and crosses during the round.
Round 3: Erin now tries pressure tactics in close. She moves to point black rage against Catherine and fires away at her to the body. Catherine stands her ground and bangs back at the model. Bellies, breasts and ribs are under constant attack as both fighters try to hang in, but Erin able to get some extra grinding dig into her belly punches. Catherine backing out to catch her breath. Just enough to allow Erin to win round by a narrow margin.
Round 4: Catherine moves quickly as new round begins and whacks Erin with a powerhouse right to the chin. Erin goes rubbery legged as she staggers away. Catherine continues the head punching, trying to get Erin down, but Erin covers her head and Catherine’s punches are blunted. Catherine then goes to the body. Erin recovering as round progresses and gets her jab going to slow Catherine up for a time, Then Catherine whacks Erin to the chin as time is running out. Erin again goes wobbly, but stays up to the bell, Round goes wide to Catherine Bach.
Round 5: Catherine looking pleased with herself during break. Erin not at all happy. Catherine comes rushing out at the bell and promptly gets a smashing hook to the gut that doubles her up with a loud gasp of air. Erin swarms in pounds shots off the sides of Catherine’s head. Catherine finds herself in a nightmare as she tries to cover up, but then gets driven into the ropes for a thorough pounding to the body. Catherine does manage to stay on her feet, but she looks stunned at the bell. Erin now smiling as she wins the round in a shutout.
Round 6: Catherine Bach shows her toughness by shaking off the beating she took from Erin Gray. She comes out of her corner with surprising (especially to Erin Gray)speed. Out flashes a right uppercut that crashes into Erin’s chin and the model goes flying back. It’s all Erin can do to stay on her feet, but then Catherine is on her and pouring in the punch. Erin being hit everywhere and she frantically tries to pull away while trying to protect her head. Catherine muscles Erin into the ropes and pounds away at the trapped blonde. Erin managing to protect her head and takes a seat on the ropes to help stay on her feet during the ordeal. Bell finally ends it, Erin very wobbly getting back to her corner. Catherine watches her carefully.
R7: Erin’s fans hoping for a big comeback in this round as Catherine was able to do in the last round. However Erin comes out slowly and with a very defensive. Gloves up around her head and pushing out a jab to try to hold Catherine off. Catherine a bit cautious herself early, using probing punches to assure herself Erin isn’t faking. Then she comes forward and starts hooking Erin to the belly and ribs. Erin being tipped forward and having to lower her guard to protect her midsection. That’s just what Catherine was hoping for: she immediately launches right and lets uppercuts into Erin’s chin. Erin’s head suddenly a bobble-head doll and then her knees give out. Erin pitches forward to her knees and then crashes forward onto her face. Catherine trots to neutral corner. Referee starts counting. Erin showing signs of life. She tries to rise, pushing herself up with her arms, but she can get no further.
The referee reached the count of “1O!...You’re out!”
DING! DING!
Ref holds up Catherine Bach’s arm in victory as the brunette looks down in gloating pleasure at Erin. The blonde is still struggling to rise and still failing.
“I knew I could kick her snooty ass,” Catherine says. “And I did!"
