BEFORE:
Avril smirking as she sits back in her chair backstage, more than a little confident about her prospects for tonight’s contest.
"I'm fighting Sansa Stark today! To be honest, I've only watched a couple of Game of Thrones episodes before I got bored to death..." she lets out a sharp laugh for emphasis. "So I don't know much about Sansa or Maisie... but I heard that she's some badass on the show! Which is cool and all, but she doesn't seem that badass to me in real life, based on her lousy boxing record! At least she doesn't look as weak as that Beer b*tch from last month..."
Maisie Williams, ever the youthful little lady, bites her lip at the other end of the press table, unsure of how to respond at first.
"Umm... first of all - it's Arya... and I only started in the FCBA two years ago, Av... Didn't you start off your career with a 0-5 record? Seems like I'm doing a lot better than you did so far," the so-called 'bad-ass' suddenly grins back at Avril.
And with a massive eye roll, Avril fires back: "Whatever, MARGARET! Nobody cares about some stupid fantasy name... and guess what? I'm not 0-5, NOW, am I?"
Maisie turns back to address the room, which is filled with reporters and of course her die-hard, loyal fans from GoT. "No... and that's exactly why I accepted Avril’s challenge. I want to end the year in the top 15 of this division, and I think I can do it if I keep at it and... beating someone like Avril would be big for me. I couldn't say no to that."
"You totally should have said no, cuz I'm kicking your ass tonight, Margaret."
"You're welcome to try... APRIL."
One can imagine the pre-fight weigh-ins as plenty tense as two porcupines in a balloon factor, when both girls come together to pose with their best fighting stances. Avril all trying to get in the British girl's face, still spewing insults, whereas Maisie calm as a butterfly on a summer's day, expressionless like her own character on the hit television show, hoping to assassinate Avril where she stands but more than happy to bide her time.
Entrances are ten times more spectacular here at the Doll Ball, with Avril exploding onto the stage in a hail of fireworks and punk rock music. She still has that Queen-moniker going strong, a long golden cape fastened around both her shoulders as she strides down the ramp in her usual black and pink sporta bra and hotpants, long blonde hair in a ponytail and that crown of hers sitting pretty on top of her head, Queen Lavigne is looking regal. Maisie on the other hand emerging to streamers and confetti of red and silver – matching her fight uniform of red sports bra with a white trim with matching trunks and gloves, dark hair in a ponytail. The younger woman struts her stuff down the ramp with a small yet confident smile, to equally bold cheers. There are plenty of Game of Thrones fans in the arena and looks like the British starlet is feeling right at home despite being in Avril’s home court here tonight!
We’re set for an epic battle between two well-known starlets ladies and gentlemen. Referee checks with them both in their corners and gets a mutual nod of assured destruction. HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!
ROUND 1:
Avril must have been instructed in advance by her trainers to take it easy this time round, as she doesn’t come roaring out of her corner once the bell rings. Maisie partly surprised as well, her head already hidden behind both arms, having anticipated some sort of wild tsunami headed her way from the get-go. But no, Avril testing the waters with some jabs sent into her guard, but otherwise keeping her distance and wanting to feel out her opponent first. Maisie on the other hand with no such hesitations, rushes in all of a sudden to fill the gap left behind by Lavigne’s absence, pounds on her guard with harder and faster strikes. Avril taking things slow but at the same time not moving backwards defensively, ends up getting hit on the body repeatedly by a faster-moving Williams. If the Doll possessed no special animosity towards Maisie at the start of this contest, she certainly feels differently by the time these first three minutes are up, as the younger Brit sends her to her corner with a smirk, causing Lavigne to hiss: “Whatever b*tch! Just wait till next round!”. Maisie shrugging in amusement as she watches the blonde limp back to corner.
ROUND 2:
Avril’s patience continues to be tested as she’s again held back by her trainers, who tried to calm her down in between the rounds best they could. Result is a little more restraint on Avril’s part - at least this time she’s moving and banging instead of just the latter, and WIlliams has a harder time scoring punches on her frame. Avril turning the tables instead with a mid-round flurry into the pixie-like actress’ face, making the Canadian’s fans roar in approval and stopping Williams in her tracks as she winces hard. Rest of the round sees the two girls changing gears, and Maisie hangs back and trades leather with her from afar. Both girls taking their own sweet time, but at least Avril’s found some success in playing it cool, her gesturing at Williams to “Bring it, MARGARET!” starting to make the actress pissed off by the end of the round.
ROUND 3:
Maisie taking this fight all too seriously now, not about to let some aging, old singer (her words!) spoil her GoT after-party. She comes at Avril slowly but surely, arms defending well against the singer’s choice jabs, then returning fire into the Canadian’s face with precise shots of her own to the nose and lips. Avril grimacing and groaning as this happens, and by Williams’ calculations, all it takes are a couple of such blows to send her counterpart running. This holds true for the first two minutes, as Williams steadily ramps up the pressure, follows Lavigne across the ring and back, but the last minute has Avril going back to being unpredictable, standing and trading leather with her blow-for-blow, giving Williams back some of that bitter medicine as well. Williams left pasty-eyed by the time the bell rings - her shots are scoring her points, but just not doing enough damage to keep Avril on the run. Bell rings and she should at least be content with sweeping this one for herself.
ROUND 4:
Maisie pressing her advantage early in the fourth, perhaps spurred on by that insult of Avril forgetting which iconic character she even portrayed on television. She slaps a few more hands into the Queen's lips, looking increasingly satisfied as Lavigne's painful expression says it all. For someone so small, Arya Stark certainly packs a punch as she knocks the singer’s head backwards and forces her further back towards the ropes. Avril trying to block the incoming punches best she can, but eats shots to the tummy instead, and it’s only after she manages to duck under a wild swing up high does she seize her revenge. Maisie's eyes go wide with shock as Lavigne slams a right hook clean across her face, then keeping up the barrage by targeting the side of the head with heavy swings, pushing Williams back in the opposite direction. Maisie suddenly in trouble as a third such hook SWIPES across her tiny cheek, the force of which sending her flying off her feet! She lands on her side with a momentous THUD, and the silence from the crowd at this remarkable turnaround for Avril Lavigne is deafening, before the entire stadium erupts in wild cheers for her achievement!
Avril herself looking partly surprised at her own feat - ducking under that wild hook from Williams certainly was a calculated move that took guts and a bit of luck. But the results speak for themselves, with Williams clawing her way to the ropes and then groaning as she attempts to recover, whilst the Queen struts back to her own corner to celebrate. Williams making it back up to her feet by the count of 8, but Lavigne still fully confident in her own ability to win this outright, whether now, or the next round, or by the end of ten.
ROUND 5:
Maisie shocked so badly that she doesn't manage to recover anytime soon. She spends the first minute of the round running and ducking from Lavigne, with Lavigne clear having switched gears and barreling towards her foe all-out. After securing such a big win last round, who can blame her? None of that holding back or defensive maneuvers any longer, and all that pent-up anger and frustration getting unleashed in the form of straight crosses slamming into Williams’ head and chest. Second minute and things starting to look bleak, especially when Maisie gets BLASTED again to the arms, sending her almost careening off her feet. But Avril chases after her back to the ropes, finishes what she started with another right hand sent straight into the side of her head, literally slamming Williams down to the ground one more time like an epic clothesline! This SURELY has to be it?!?
Avril acting like it most definitely is, arms already raised high and tongue already stuck out to the roar of the crowd. But Maisie STILL alive and squirming below the ropes, even after all that torment, torture and sufferings for eight seasons! The feisty Brit slowly clamoring up one foot at a time, looking stunned but determined to punish Avril for her insolence. Her face is awash red with sweat as Williams recovers by the count of 9!
Avril ain't smiling no longer, we can tell you that! She may have bested Williams for the past two rounds in a row, but she's taking her refusal to go down permanently as a personal affront! Lavigne arguing with the referee for a few moments, bellowing, "WHAT THE HELL, REF!? SHE WAS DOWN!”
But meanwhile, Maisie is trying to catch her breath with big gulps of air. Lavigne finally throwing up her hands (and not to mention some choice curse words) in both resignation and rage when the referee waves for the final minute of this round to continue. No such complaints from the fans, of course, who just want to see a brawl take place regardless of who comes out on top. But Lavigne still the favourite of the show as she bounds forward one last time (hopefully), eager to make even shorter work of Maisie, who puts up a valiant effort in a last ditch attempt to block the incoming torrent of punches, but gets rocked anyway too many times across the head and side of the body, to the point where she's a dead-woman swaying from left to right in one spot, arms barely out in front of her to guard any longer, feet barely straying or trying to avoid the attacks. Finally, the referee makes up for his error by jumping in to save Maisie from going down again, permanently. The bell rings and Lavigne takes the win via TKO!
Official Decision: Avril Lavigne defeats Maisie Williams via TKO5!
AFTER:
What a fight! Avril's expression like one of those drama masks from ancient Greece, one moment scowling harshly and the next flipping upside down into the widest grin, especially once she hears the sound of the bell to make it official.
Avril raising both her hands and grinning, then letting out a loud shout to the audience, “Yeaahhh, bitchesss!!” She lets out another yell from across the ring, directed at Maisie, who's still clinging onto the top rope and barely holding onto her lunch.
"Guess who's the badass in REAL Life, Margie.... Sansa... Arya... whatever your stupid name is!"
The Doll high-fives her crew members in her own corner before mounting the second turnbuckle and raising a hand to her fans. Later, Avril still with some choice words for her opponent when she speaks to reporters on the way out of the ring. “I kicked her ass, nuff said batches!” Lavigne giggles before realizing she should say a bit more. “Well…She’s totally overrated if you ask me…just like her dumb TV show. And now that it’s over…….It’s over, right?” Avril asks her crew behind her, who nod in amusement. “Yeah so…that makes her totally irrelevant now, both inside and outside the ring! NEEEEEXT!” The blonde giggles and dismisses any further questions with a wave of her hand, going back to celebrating another win as she makes her way backstage grinning to the sound of “Queen La-vigne!” chants throughout the arena.
