Elizabeth Henstridge versus Natalie Portman
(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)
(Girls Friday vs Hawkeye International Sports Consortium)
A clash of flyweights with a point to prove, England vs America as Elizabeth Henstridge meets Natalie Porter tonight.
Elizabeth is 31 years old; she stands 5'4 and holds a record of 22 wins, all by knockout, with 8 defeats.
Natalie is 37 years old; she stands 5'3 and holds a record of 77 wins, 42 by knockout, 47 defeats with 2 draws, she is a former 10 time FCBA flyweight champion and is in the Tractorpull Hall of Fame.
Each fighter was interviewed at their gym in the build up to the fight, the press first headed to the Girls Friday gym for a few words from Elizabeth.
Who had just finished her training, after wiping herself down she went over to the journalists looking full of smiles.
"Hey gang, so I get to take on the former 10 time champion, god if I get 1 title before I retire I'll be happy beyond belief" says Elizabeth as she looks excited.
"If I am to become that level then I need to be able to beat people like Natalie, who I don't care if pundits think she is slowing down, I can definitely see from the videos I've had to study that she ain't to me" she adds as she looks more serious.
She is asked about the whole Hawkeye team crusade at beating back British fighters from the flyweight elite, making Elizabeth simply laugh and shrug her shoulders, evidentially not caring about any of that as she heads off to the showers.
Natalie meanwhile is caught sparring with Michelle Williams, who is preparing for her own big title defence later, so neither looked to be holding back till the bell, where both stared at each other before nodding to show respect.
After stepping out of the ring to get a drink, Natalie waves the press over to begin discussing the fight, where she tells them "so you have heard about our belief that the flyweight division is being overrun with these British fighters, I'm leading the charge against them because us Americans are the best to have stepped into that ring"
Grinning after she takes a drink, she confidently tells the press "Elizabeth Henstridge is admittedly one I don't really rate that highly, so this will be about putting out the message to the Michelle Keegans and Cheryl Coles of the world"
When asked if she believes Elizabeth has no chance against her, Natalie answers "she has as good a chance as anyone does against me, no much"
Fight night; Elizabeth is out with Taryn Terrell and Eva Carneiro by her sides, she is her usual chipper self as she jogs down to the ring wearing her black "master of the sweet science" shirt.
Taryn helps her take the shirt off to reveal she is wearing a black sports bra with an agents of shield badge on the left cup, black trunks with white trim, white gloves, blacks shoes, while her hair is braided.
Getting into the ring; Elizabeth turns at the center of the ring to blow kisses to each side of the arena, then gets to her corner so she can begin warming up.
Natalie is out with Kristen Kreuk by her side, she looks confident judging by her grin as she heads down to the ring, Natalie stops at ringside to point at a banner that says "simply the best" pointing at herself as she winks at the camera.
She is wearing a red sports bra, matching trunks with "Queen" in white letters on the waistband, white gloves, with red shoes, her hair is in a ponytail.
Climbing into the ring; Natalie gives the crowd a hint of her hand speed with a punching drill at the center of the ring, winking at Elizabeth before she heads to her corner.
The fighters both come to the center of the ring, where they square up to each other, though Elizabeth is taller she looks the more nervous of the two.
After being asked to touch gloves, they thud them together before turning to head back to their corners, where they are ready to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
The early action sees both feeling the other out with single punches, up on their toes as they circle near the center of the ring with intense stares behind their gloves.
Natalie is the first to step in with the first real bit of aggression, catching her opponent with a double jab, followed by a right to the ribs.
That seems to give confidence to her as Elizabeth looks to still have those nerves, the American pushing the action of the two as Elizabeth mostly looks to box off the back foot.
A missed right cross by Natalie though gives Elizabeth a chance to strike back with a left/right combo to the face, before she steps back though.
The Girls Friday corner not looking happy as Natalie looks to have been let off the hook for more punishment, giving Natalie the chance to get back on the front foot.
The round ends with Natalie not showing any emotion, clearly this was what she expected to happen as she sits on her stool to chat to Kristen.
While Taryn yells at Elizabeth to forget about who she is facing, just to do what she does best and beat Natalie with her skills.
The talk seems to have worked as Elizabeth opens up more, leading to more exchanges at the center of the ring to the delight of the crowd.
Elizabeth moves back to catch Natalie to the face with a double jab to the top of her head, before she gets on the move to work.
Using her reach more to keep Natalie out at range, mostly catching the gloves though of her opponent, with a few catch the top of the head.
With Natalie able to duck under a straight to move in close to slam a right into the ribs of Henstridge, where she begins trading in tight with her taller opponent.
The fighters both trade with their heads rubbing, Natalie beginning to get the pressure back onto her younger rival, driving her towards the ropes with those body shots that are well drilled from years of battle.
But Elizabeth is able to nudge her back with her left, following with an uppercut to knock Portman back, Henstridge beginning to open up on her opponent to force her backwards.
The round ends with Elizabeth looking relieved to have gotten her rhythm going, Taryn telling her to keep that up to win this.
Natalie meanwhile doesn't look bothered, she chats with Kristen about what she needs to do differently as she gets her face wiped down.
The momentum definitely looks with Elizabeth as she is flowing more with her punches, keeping on the move as Natalie seems like she is on the chase now.
More combinations are landing from the British fighter as she plants her feet, before getting back onto the bike to keep Natalie struggling to land her power punches.
But Natalie won't let things be that easy for Henstridge, catching her with a quick jab and straight to the face as she cuts the gap between them so she can work in close range.
The fighters slug it out near the ropes as Natalie is looking the stronger, backing up Elizabeth onto a set of ropes with several punches knocking the head back.
Elizabeth clinches up with Natalie, who presses her body into Elizabeth's to keep the pressure on her even in these situations.
As they are separated; Elizabeth is able to get her punches going again, keeping Natalie at arms length as she slams those rangy punches into the face of her opponent.
The bell rings with Elizabeth getting another round under her seemingly and the confidence looks to be growing in her.
All it is doing to Natalie though is making her look angry as she stares across the ring, almost totally unblinking as Kristen tells her to step things up.
Natalie looks to show Elizabeth she ain't going anywhere as she comes out strong, leading to fiery exchanges around the ring as the crowd stands to cheer the girls on.
Back and forth they go as Elizabeth has to plant her feet more with Natalie getting into her face to work, heads are getting turned as abs are being tested.
Till Elizabeth tries to step back to open things up, except she is the one open as Natalie lashes a right hook across her face to knock her onto her heels.
Suddenly Natalie turns up the heat on Elizabeth, knocking her onto the ropes with a barrage of punches landing too cleanly for the liking of the Girls Friday corner.
Elizabeth covers up as Natalie has to switch up to the body, ripping in hooks to make her opponent grimace as there is some real power behind those shots.
Needing to clinch up with Natalie, Elizabeth takes a breath as Natalie again presses her body into hers, the referee needed to step in to break them apart.
With the final part of the round seeing Elizabeth working on the defensive, landing jabs to keep Natalie on the back foot till the round ends.
Natalie allows herself a moment to smile, jogging over to her corner as she looks well and truly warmed up now.
Elizabeth on the other hand shakes her head looking apologetic at Taryn, who tells her to get out of her head, as Eva even gives words of encouragement to her.
The fighters both come out trading stiff shots as they fight around the ring, Natalie looking to keep in the face of Elizabeth.
Who gives Natalie a little nudge to open up space, then lands a left/right across her face as Elizabeth starts to drive back her opponent.
But she misses with a straight with Natalie using her left to nudge back Elizabeth, THEN UNLEASHES AN UPPERCUT FROM DOWN BY HER LEG THAT KNOCKS ELIZABETH'S HEAD BACK, THE GUMSHIELD GOES FLYING AS SHE GOES TO HER BACK, THE REFEREE CHECKS AND RULES ELIZABETH IS KNOCKED OUT!
Winner Natalie Portman KO Round 5
Another stunning knockout is added to the Natalie's massive list, she doesn't look too bothered about Elizabeth as she raises her fists into the air while strutting back to her corner.
The ringside doctor gets into the ring and waves for a stretcher, medics getting Elizabeth onto it so they can get her out of the ring to the back.
Eva is in tears as she follows Elizabeth up the aisle, while Taryn looks on in disbelief before she turns to follow Eva on the way to the back.
Inside the ring after getting her gloves taken off, Natalie gets her hand raised to the delight of her fans as she smiles at them.
Waving for a microphone, Natalie tells the crowd "those British fighters I hope saw that, I am coming for you all with my stablemates to remind you whose the top dog in the FCBA" to a mixed response.
Leaving the ring with Kristen, Natalie tells her "let's see if any of the better ones have the guts to fight us after that" both laughing as they head to their locker room.
