Paula Patton vs Michelle Ryan

BEFORE: Both these veterans struggled for success lately but they're determined to still leave their mark on the welterweight scene otherwise dominated by Sports Illustrated-sponsored talent. Paula Patton scored a good win over WWE legend Torrie Wilson back in June and claims this performance actually scared her potential opponents off: "I'm like the most dangerous free agent here who hasn't been invited to the party. Forget about these catwalk babes, I'm still here to make some noise!"
Meanwhile Michelle Ryan has fought an almighty tough schedule in 2018 which included the names like Righetti, Rhoda and Taylor Hill. It's no wonder the British actress couldn't topple any of them but she believes it's the only way to keep the phone ringing these days. And then someone like Patton comes calling - a very winnable match-up for the Brit according to several pundits.

Round 1:
Paula wants it more in the early stages, she catches the Brit off guard with a quick jabbing fire and allthough Michelle is a power-oriented fighter, she gets picked off too easily not to make the experts think how woeful her mobility is right now. She wilts under the jabbing pressure and it's surely too early to think of a haymaker KO punch so the Patton train keeps rolling until Ryan gets sucked into the ropes where she applies a rather regrettable clinch instead of punching right back at the older woman. Paula says 'Thank U' when she gets another chance to stick more leather late on and Michelle is so ineffective here in the opener even the fans don't know what's going on!
Round 2:
Paula thinks she's caught a shell of the former Girls Friday floater until she WALKS into a crunching hook on the jaw that reels her onto her heels seconds into the round; Michelle flips a switch and suddenly blows past the high guard to smack Patton's head around which once again leaves the fans speechless as the British assault drops the American into all kinds of problems going forward. Let's be honest, Paula is stopping Michelle's punches with her face and soon disappears into a yelping disarray while the younger brunette keeps piling more pressure up the middle to also clip some jug in the process. Patton gets thumped into the ropes and has nothing to match the Ryan intensity while getting battered from both flanks until she simply can't take it anymore and TAKES A KNEE in the middle of a ruthless British rally. Huh! So what was that all about then? Michelle barks over the referee's shoulder as he delivers the count and a bruised Patton eventually gets up at eight but only stares at her rival in sheer disbelief. Here we go again in the final minute and Patton is downright spooked as she refuses to engage in any sort of reply to fuel the Ryan pounce that fails to provide the kill shot in time though!
Round 3:
Michelle seems upset over that last stretch in the previous round but quickly finds her rhythm again as Paula is unable to shake the knockdown funk and keeps yielding real estate which only makes the crowd jeer at her efforts. Michelle is no speed demon across the canvas but she still stick plenty of single punches to keep the American away from her comfort zone and then clatters into her chest after a hectic leap that has Paula tripping over her own feet. A quick hook pierces the solar plexus and has the older woman aching before a left/right cross tears a small cut over the left eye and sends Patton into a desperate earmuff come the final seconds.
Round 4:
Michelle tees off to work on the cut above Paula's left eye but becomes a little too one-dimensional in her pursuit while the older actress recovers her footwork advantage to stay out of harm's way until she can apply the counter-punching plan. Ryan is foolish enough to think she's got the American mentally shaken up and pays immediate price when Paula lights up the scoreboard with a furious jabbing rush up the middle that rocks the Brit's head back & forth in the center of the ring. A gut shot then takes the air out of Michelle's lungs and forces a lenghty clinch as Paula is unable to muscle her way into a commanding position again. The ref spends majority of the final minute urging Ryan to drop the stalemate beat but the oxygen recovery period is slow and even Patton's spikes on the exposed ribcage don't make the difference anymore.
Round 5:
The bout becomes very cagey early in the fifth but Paula's superior mobility allows her to threaten the fellow brunette's ribcage which forces an overhand response that opens the bloody cut over the American's eye just past the one-minute mark. Paula has to slug it out in close range thereafter as Michelle lands too many crisp shots on target not to make the ref think about that wound and that's a bad idea to begin with since Michelle can stretch her elbows faster in a heads-up exchange which adds more buises on the cougar's face. A belting cross on the guts folds Patton into spasms and she gets driven back into the turnbuckle where Ryan pounds away into her midriff to run away with the action late.
Round 6:
Paula becomes more desperate as she lunges upstairs to connect with the Brit's jaw and she knows what's coming in response... however Ryan fails to follow through with her initial punch and gets blasted on the jugs instead as the American works from the inside and delivers a semi-uppercut double to wobble the fellow brunette onto her heels. Paula adds a brutal overhand on the nose moments later and has the Brit yelping on the spot as blood gets spilled in the process! Uh-oh! That's unfortunate indeed but Patton jumps on the crossing route and hauls in another big strike that sends Michelle into shrieking disaster. The Brit knows she's been bloodied but enjoys no help from the ref who allows Patton to pounce on the wounded prey in the final minute when more quick punches slice the younger girl's guard up and enable the aggressor to swivel the victim on her feet as she desperately tries to avoid a serious injury. A belting hook bursts into Michelle's chest right at the bell as well to really sink her into a shrieking red zone and that's advantage Patton now!
Round 7:
Michelle's nose has been patched up during the break and she vows to slug herself into contention again but Paula's too experienced not to accept the invitation and she hauls the leather juice right into the fellow brunette's face... both women trade blows like it's a flyweight bash for the ages and something has to give here next... Paula's cut over the left eye begins to bleed alright but she finds the plug puller when she scythes Michelle's nose with a left/right cross before adding a bone breaker on the follow up... Oi, Michelle! The blood from the squashed nostrils spills onto the ref's shirt but the GIRL IS GOING DOWN anwyay and Ryan truly hits the deck HARD!!! Ugh! She bounces her head off the boards in dead meat fashion and that hit could have well rendered her too dizzy to continue in first place! The count reaches six before the ref waves it off as Ryan is smoked out of her senses with her nose bleeding all over the place! KO7 Paula Patton!!!
AFTER: That's an awful way to keep Michelle's cold streak alive and one can only wonder where she goes from here? The only way is down for the London native following her 5th straight defeat? Meanwhile Paula claims "She's back!!!" while talking to ESPN's Erin Andrews and vows to take care of some prolific names in 2019 pending the opportunity: "I don't have to fight all these Victoria's Secret models to stay in the spotlight! Did you see how I turned Ryan's lights out tonight? And not only that! I busted her right up so she's lucky I didn't break her nose! I still have that Righetti-beating power in me but girls simply have to call me. I'm not hiding, I'm still here! (giggles). Don't be scared, just call me out and I'm right here to spoil anyone's elite dreams!" (laughs). If nobody's callin' I'd be happy to whup that stupid cow Amber Rose next! How about it?"
