Before: “I have to give Kendall Jenner credit,” says Mary Elizabeth Winstead at the pre-fight press meeting, “not only was she willing to give me a title shot, but she was willing to do as a ‘Santa-Kini’ fight. I didn’t event the ‘Santa-Kini’ fight, but I like to think I am its most devoted fan. It always makes me happy to introduce someone to the Santa-Kini. I know you will like, Kendall—even if I do end up taking that title belt away from you.”
Kendall Jenner just smiles: “You may think you will take this belt away, but I am not going to let it happen. I am still very new to the FCBA, but I want to be a part of its traditions and a ‘Santa-Kini’ bout seemed a fun way to do it. Plus it will make this a unique title fight. I don’t think there has been one fought in Santa-Kinis, has there?”
“No, I don’t think so either. That’s a good idea Kendall, I am looking forward to this,” Mary replied.
“I am too. I want to prove myself. I’ve already beaten veterans like Kelly Brook and Jessica Biel. Now I want to continue that by beating Mary. I hope you don’t mind being a stepping stone in building my reputation,” Kendall said with a sly smile.
“You better be careful. I am a very slippery stepping stone. You can end up taking a tumble if you don’t look out,” Mary replied with a sly smile of her own.
“Oh, I plan to be looking out, don’t you worry about that,” Kendall said with assurance.
“I never would,” Mary says, but she is studying the younger champion closely.
On the fight of the fight, the excited crowd sees challenger Mary enter the ring first. She is wearing a red high-waisted bikini with white snowflakes and trimmed in white faux fur. She is wearing white boots with red laces and red gloves with white laces. She wears a Santa hat to the ring, but under it her bobbed hair is hanging loose. The champion, Kendall Jenner, enters wearing a shiny gold bikini trimmed in red faux fur. She has golden boots and gloves with red laces and wears her hair in a French braid with red ribbon interlaced through it.
“Good job,” Mary says, “you look all wrapped for Santa to under my tree, though I will admit it’s more your title belt that I would prefer to see.”
“Glad you like it, but, I have to tell you to prepare yourself for a disappointment. You won’t get a lump of coal, but you certainly will get lumps from my punches,” Kendall replies.
“Not as many as you’re going to get,” Mary replied.
“Now ladies,” the referee interjects, “nobody will be getting any lumps if you two don’t settle down and get through my ring instructions.”
“Sorry,” Mary says.
“Yeah, sorry, let’s get on with it,” Kendall agrees.
After that the ring instructions are gone through. Gloves are tapped and the two fighters are back in their corners. The bell rings…
R1: Kendall out of her corner quickly seemingly determined to get in the first blow, but Mary is out pretty quickly too and she startles the English fighter with a feint to the belly while bringing a stinging straight right to the mouth. Kendall falls back with bleeding lips and Mary coolly opens up on the model/TV personality’s lanky frame. Kendall driven back, but remembers her jab and uses it to bang Mary hard to the cheeks and jaw. Mary circles, adjusts and then plunges back in, hammering at Kendall’s midsection, but then slipping surprise uppercuts to the chin. Kendall knocked back on her heels, has her gloves up around her head and Mary then works the stomach until she has Kendall bent forward. Then Mary bangs the sides of Kendall’s head. Kendall dropping back again and using the jab to slow up Mary. Mary circling again, but Kendall keeping up now and manages to blunt further MEW punching to the bell. Still, Mary given the round by a wide margin by the judges.
R2: Kendall looking displeased as she sits on her stool. GF adviser Melanie Sykes talking to her, but not clear Kendall is listening. The champion seems fixed on watching a cheerful Winnie Winstead chatting with Foxfire trainers Virginia Madsen and Rachel Nichols. Bell rings and sure enough, Kendall comes rushing off her stool and launches a fierce punching barrage against Mary. Mary trying to blunt and evade this leather storm., but she is still taking a lot of hits that get through her defenses. Mary obliged to get some distance between herself and Kendall in order to regroup. She extracts herself very neatly and Kendall has to scramble after her. Mary then stops and greets Kendall with a series of well-placed jabs to the face that brings Kendall to a stunned halt, momentarily frozen in place. Instantly, Mary’s right flashes out and connects with Kendall’s jaw. The red-ribboned braid goes whipping around Kendall’s swiveling head AND KENDALL FLOPS ONTO HER FACE! Mary looks down to see Kendall at her feet, groaning and thrashing around. Mary smiles and struts off to the neutral corner. Referee starts counting. Kendall pulls herself together and makes it back to her feet in time to break the count. Big swelling discolored lump on her jaw marks the impact point of Mary’s knockdown shot. Action resumes, but Kendall is now strictly defensive, just trying to make to the bell. Mary striking hard at Kendall, mainly to the body, but Kendall’s keeping her head well-protected and achieves her goal as the bell sounds. Mary has now won her second round in a row and has a knockdown to her credit.
R3: Kendall finally seems to be paying attention to Melanie Sykes during the break. This time Kendall is off her stool and moving quickly, but not recklessly. Kendall now trading shot for shot with Mary as they circle at mid-ring. Mary clearly trying for another right to the jaw (with that lump as her target), but Kendall moving her upper body much better now and her counterpunching is putting a number of lumps on Mary’s face. Then Kendall shifts to attack Mary to the belly with hard hooks driven by set feet. Mary gurgling as she backs to. Kendall moving to keep up and they engage in a sudden flurry of head punching. Heads are really getting knocked around and both fighters must be seeing stars, but they keep it up. Finally, Mary has to stumble back. She manages to regain her balance as Kendall seems sluggish to follow. Punching resumes, but it is low energy and not very well aimed. Round ends and the two stare groggily at each other and then turn away, both slow in returning to their corners. Close round, but the judges give it the Kendall Jenner.
R4: Fighters trying to shake off the cobwebs during the break, but both look slow coming out. However, once they get within range, Kendall and Mary surge at each other. This time the punching is going to the body. The two are fighting very close with sweaty brows almost touching as they stand facing eye other and pump punches into each other. This goes on and on and has the crowd on its feet cheering them on, eager to see who wins this battle of body attrition. Late in the round, crowd realizes that Mary is slowly pushing Kendall back. Kendall resisting all she can, but can’t keep Mary off her. They blaze away to the bell and referee has to jump in to make sure they stop. Mary and Kendall exchange fierce looks and then march off to their corners. Crowd is loving it. Mary wins the round though it is close.
R5: Kendall moving a bit more quickly than Mary as the round begins and it allows her to shake up Mary with some quick strikes to the head without getting close. Mary tries to regroup, but then Kendall is on her striking with strong hooks to the midsection. Mary tipping forward and now Kendall beings some nasty uppercuts into Mary’s bikini top. Mary pulling back, trying to use her defensive jab, but Kendall is getting through to smite Mary in the jaw and side of the head. Mary tightening her defense late, but Kendall has secured this round for her side of the judges cards by a wide margin.
R6: Mary making a comeback move early as she finds the strength to beat Kendall to center ring and give her a taste of the ol’ one-two in the chin. Kendall seems startled and pulls back, but then regroups as Mary tries to get in close for the follow-up. Another blazing body battle breaks out as Kendall and Mary heave short, but powerful punches into their laboring bodies. Mary hanging in through the middle of the round, but then seems to be fading and she starts to pull back. Kendall quick to spot a opening and in a flash she sends a right uppercut into Mary’s chin followed by a left hook. Mary thrown back on tottering legs and suddenly SHE IS DOWN! Mary on her butt looking up glassy-eyed at Kendall who trots to the neutral corner. The referee moves in to count and Mary’s head clear sufficiently to realize her danger. She rises slowly, beating the count at “…NINE!” Fight resumes, but Mary is all covered up and Kendall’s unable to do more than punch her challenger in the flanks. Still, the knockdown assures Kendall Jenner that she’s won this round wide.
R7: If Kendall Jenner thought she had Mary Elizabeth Winstead ready to go after that knockdown, she is quickly disabused of the notion. Mary has been worked on by the Foxfire corner crew and she comes out fighting. Kendall finds herself under pressure as Mary seems determined to fight this out in close. Once more we have an exciting body punching battle at point-blank range. Mary knocks Kendall back a step. Kendall comes back and knocks Mary back a step. The battle goes back and forth as belly, breast and ribs get thoroughly pounded on both fighters. Then Mary is able some good swats to the side of the head to stagger Kendall and slow up her counters. Mary then digs down and belly punches Kendall back a few steps, but then times runs out. Mary awarded a close-fought round, but her body seems to be quivering from all the punching it has absorbed. Kendall looking shaken, but makes a point of marching firmly to her corner. Mary can barely avoid looking wobbly as she returns to her corner.
R8: Mary was slumped on her stool during the break and rises with effort to resume the fight at the bell. Kendall looked tired on her stool, but she has enough left to rise with energy and go after the sluggish Mary. Kendall goes first to the body, but Mary appears to have lost her taste for close-in fighting. She scoots back and uses the jab to try to keep Kendall back. Kendall is patient, studying her opponent while sending plenty of probing punches at Mary. Then Kendall makes a feint to the head, which draws up Mary’s guard and exposes her ribs and stomach;. Kendall then launched a furious series of punches into Mary’s poorly defended midsection. Mary doubling up and groaning, wrapping her arms around her ravaged belly. This is just what Kendall wanted and she now sends left hook/right cross combos into Mary’s chin. Mary starts to teeter as she tries to back up and then Kendall strikes with the right uppie to the chin. Mary stood up on her toes as her head snaps back and then she topples backwards ;like a felled try. Mary hits the canvas so hard that it makes the ring shake! Mary’s legs and arms are flailing uselessly as the referee counts while Kendall watches from the neutral corner. Mary just can’t get her arms and legs to cooperate. She is still struggle as the count passes her by:”
“TEN…YER OUT!”
THE WINNER AND STILL FCBA LIGHWEIGHT CHAMPION: KENDALL JENNER.
After: Kendall Jenner jubilant as she successfully defends her Lightweight title. She waits eagerly for Mary Elizabeth Winstead to be revived and pronounced fit for post-fight activities. Kendall puts an arm around the still somewhat wobbly Mary and then gives a signal. Fake snow starts raining down from the rafters.
“This is my ‘Winter Wonderland Walk of Shame’ for you, Mary, I hope you appreciate it,” Kendall says as they set off through the “snowflakes.”
“Gotta admit I never thought of this,” Mary mutters but she looks pretty downcast at losing her latest chance at a title.
“Thank you, it’ll look so great on social media,” Kendall said happily as she guides Mary on a circuit of the ring before returning her to her Foxfire trainers.
Exciting back and forth action. Kendall Jenner just seemed to have more energy late and this allowed her to win the bout. Disappointing outing for Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the title belt elude her once again and in her favorite type of “gimmick match”. Fans can now start to speculate who Kendall will select as her next opponent. They can also look to see if Mary can bounce back from this heartbreaking loss. And, of course, all can savor a very special Christmas themed bout.
