4. Co-Main: Alyssa Lynch vs Bridgit Mendler (Bantamweight)

Before: Much has transpired since Alyssa Lynch’s first loss in the ring back in 2016 to arch-rival Alexis Ren. The brunette today, however is looking as confident as ever, like a shot of adrenaline and energy delivered into her system with that knockout comeback in February of this year of Ren lying pooled at her feet. Now, Alyssa’s on cloud-nine and taking on all challengers.
Bridgit Mendler the next such ‘victim’ to face this new, revived Lynch, and the blonde is *not* impressed. “She beat a skinny, lanky blonde. I think that hardly qualifies as an achievement,” Bridgit commenting to reporters ringside. “Her confidence today is overrated. I’m about to bring it down a notch.”

Round 1: Here we go: Bridgit comes into the match hard and fast, pelting Alyssa’s head and guard with frequent punches. Alyssa looking all of a sudden defensive, throwing occasional jab-jab in return but her follow-up right hook doesn’t land. Bridgit showing some agility for her size, able to weave away from Alyssa’s big punches. Instead, the blonde shows she’s gonna be hard to reckon throughout this match with with a late round pounding straight to Alyssa’s nose, throbbing her face backwards once, twice, thrice! Round soon ends and at least Alyssa’s not bleeding, but her overconfidence that Bridgit mentioned before looks like it’s gonna cost her the round, and if she’s not careful, the entire match.
Round 2: Bell starts the second and hear they both come at each other again. Bridgit smiling to herself all of a sudden, perhaps she thinks this will end well for her after that first round. They dance around each other trading jabs, but then in the third minute, suddenly, blonde gets WHACKED across the face by a beautiful left hook from Alyssa that came out of nowhere. Brunette continues the abuse on the shuddering actress, stepping in and just smacking left hands straight into Bridgit’s face. Nasty comeback - Mendler looking lost all of a sudden, anticipating Alyssa’s right hook but not paying any attention to her left hand costing her dearly. Bridgit being walked back to the ropes, guard not doing her any good with Alyssa’s precision thwack thak BLAM attack on her face. Referee has to save Mendler at the bell by pulling Lynch off her. What a comeback round for the Ren-Slayer (that’s what they’re calling Alyssa on Twitter, anyhow) as she takes the round via dominant shutout.
Round 3: Bridgit having learnt her lesson from the previous round, now runs about the ring to avoid Alyssa at all costs. Strategy seems to work - Alyssa left hanging or punching air as the blonde simply creates distance and then pops her opponent in the face with stinging jab-jab-jab each time Alyssa gets too close. Not the most exciting strategy, no doubt, but one cannot deny its effectiveness. Result is Bridgit once again takes the round by close margin, but she’s clearly tiring herself out by using her legs so frequently. Didn’t help much either when Alyssa has had enough in the last 30 seconds, rushes in full steam and jams her fists straight up the blonde’s midsection boom booom BLAM, catching and stunning Bridgit on the spot and forcing her to cover up her body as best she can. Referee once again has to step in physically to separate both girls at the bell, if not Alyssa would have gladly helped herself to more pounding on skin and even pray tell scored a knockdown with that dominant round in the bag.
Round 4: Both sides getting tired, both sides still want to fight: Bridgit comes straight for Alyssa, not caring about strategy and simply wanting to brawl. Big mistake, in my opinion. Bridgit not used to Alyssa’s power shots in close quarters, result is Alyssa hammering the blonde on both sides with hook after hook. Mendler taking it, to her credit, jamming her right hand back into Alyssa’s body repeatedly thud thud thud. The Vixen grimaces in pain, but then out-works Mendler by cramming her fists upwards into Bridgit’s chin within the clinch! The blonde goes guuuhh hgggnhh GUUH as uppercuts snap her head back. There she goes stumbling! Bridgit back to ropes, and here comes Alyssa Lynch, chopping lefts and rights to her body in wicked payback. AAAND the bell rings! Alyssa cursing in frustration at this repeated interruption. Another thirty seconds and she would have had the blonde down on the floor. Instead, Bridgit mewing slightly, body sagging down by her own accord, landing on her butt. She takes her time crawling back to her corner, but not so for Alyssa, strutting around acknowledging the crowd with another big round for her.
Round 5: Here we go again with the fifth. All eyes on Bridgit as she attempts to maintain the little momentum she has, but honestly folks she already looks like she’s a dead woman walking. Alyssa sees this as well, and of course the brunette charges like it’s the end of the world - left under-hook to Bridgit’s side shudders the blonde, then another right delivered to the kidney tosses her to one side. First minute has Alyssa simply pounding gloves on the body and flanks, hoping to do some permanent damage. But the brunette underestimates her foe - Bridgit’s fists are still up and about. Mendler, out of desperation, targets the only targets she has: Alyssa’s chest and chin. Squealing from Lynch now as her jugs pounded on left and right, Bridgit getting more and more daring with each punch, deciding to snap uppercuts into Alyssa’s chin whilst she’s at it. Alyssa dazed all of a sudden, stepping backwards, and it looks like Bridgit might just have that chance to strike her down - NO - the bell rings, spoiling the action once again. Both girls scoring some good hits in that round - definitely hard to score either way.
Round 6: Perhaps everyone surprised by Bridgit’s resilience and resourcefulness so far. All signs pointed to her early downfall, and here she is, firing jab after jab into Alyssa’s face, then battering her chest while she’s at it, drawing loud groans from the Vixen, who can’t seem to get in close to punish. Second minute goes by - Alyssa stops in a corner, pauses, drawing deep breaths, and Bridgit is on her in seconds with a left-left jab to the guard followed by a right cross straight to the chest - ONLY IT’S BLOCKED BY ALYSSA, who’s ready with a counter-hook that SWIVELS the blonde’s head with her signature right! My gosh - what an impact! Bridgit staggered to her right as her head moves faster than her legs… from that one blow, she collapses down onto her side with a THUD. IT’S A KNOCKDOWN FOR ALYSSA LYNCH.
3...4… Alyssa just sagging back into her own corner, not making an effort to get to her own. Bridgit much worse: on all fours, also breathing heavily, but not making any other signs of recovery.
5...6… Bridgit clamoring slowly towards the ropes, thinking they’re gonna help her. Her gloves pawing at the bottom rope whilst Alyssa watches with tiredness from corner.
7...8… There’s no doubt which side the crowd is on tonight. The bright surgery-white spotlights ensure that the fighters are the focus - you can’t see the crowd’s faces if you’re in the ring from the intensity - but you can certainly hear that they’re loudly chanting “SLAYER. SLAYER. SLAYER!!”
Final count of 9...10!! Bridgit is still hanging onto the top rope, only making it to one knee! It’s over folks! A smile breaks over Alyssa’s face as she raises her fist high to the crowds.

After: Alyssa about to take her victory-walk around the ring… but wait a minute - some blurred movement at the other corner-- Oh my go-- HERE COMES ALEXIS REN! Blonde slides under the ropes and charges straight for the turned back of Alyssa. The crowd gasps as well as they realize what’s coming next. Lynch turns around at last minute, only to get speared in half by the charging blonde, sending her body banging back HARD against the turnbuckle, pinned there by the lanky blonde.
Alyssa lets out a painful grunt as her body is impacted by the double whammy. Disoriented with her eyes screwed shut, she can still feel the hot, excited breaths of the blonde breathing down on the top of her head. Alexis licking her lips, taking two generous handfuls of Alyssa’s hair and pulling her nemesis’ broken body up to face her.
“What the f*ck was that, ASS-lyssa?” she coos, before jamming a fist into her belly to silence her groans. “Why’d you go and face someone like Brigit when you can get your ass kicked by yours truly?” Alexis hisses into the trapped brunette’s ear, all the while pelting her foe in the tummy with her bare fist.
Alyssa too spent to resist - all she does is tug at Alexis’ hair with one hand, the other trying to find some purchase on skin to punch back, but moans even more loudly when Alexis tugs upwards sharply on her black bikini briefs.
“Remember, ASS-hat,” Alexis continues, pulling Alyssa’s body upright whilst looping an arm around the back of her neck. “What goes up, must come down eventually.”
With a final huff, Alexis lifts Alyssa’s body vertically up into the air, then sends her foe crashing back down on her back, in a wicked Full Body Suplex. Alyssa’s body bounces hard on the canvas a few times, then she lies there lifeless, arms and legs spreadeagled and sprawled, chest rising and falling steadily and eyes squeezed shut. Alexis Ren does what she does best - positions one long leg on either side of fallen foe and poses with her butt sticking out one end, her tongue the other.
VIX officials finally rush in to check on both competitors, chasing away Ren, who can’t stop grinning as she strides back to the locker room, her shirt in tatters from the wild brawl but otherwise unscathed. Interestingly, Bridgit been observing the wild melee from one corner of the ring, decides to actually crawl over to the fallen Alyssa to check on her and make sure she’s okay. Perhaps now Mendler understands the trauma that Alyssa has to go through on a daily basis. Medical staff put Alyssa on a stretcher and wheel her backstage, Bridgit stumbling along but following every step of the way.
